Hey everyone! If you like this video...check out my most recent trip up in Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies. It's one of the most magnificent places on earth and we have it all to ourselves! Here is the link. Enjoy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hpU8F2BVlcU.htmlsi=48ZfiJWUv8vzH_dy
So beautiful Cat! Every time I see one of your hiking videos I’m so grateful you’re posting this scenery for everyone to enjoy. I’m also very grateful these wild areas were preserved for posterity by our forward thinking ancestors. No doubt you guys would be hiking past hotels and condos if that hadn’t happened. ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I loved all the lakes each one has its own beauty. Of course the mountain views are as you say stunning. Thank you you and your fellow hikers for taking us with you..
Gorgeous indeed! The only thing I would like is a fire but thankfully it didn’t rain. The scenery is just spectacular! Nothing like the fresh clean air in the mountains!!
Your good friend, Terry, is sad she missed it (Kim 😢). What a beautiful walk in the woods with beautiful people. But, glad I could at least get out to Yosemite then celebrate with you all, enjoying a burger, too. 😉
I think I said WOW! about 30 times this episode! 😯🌲🌲 Mind blowing beauty around every turn on the trail. Thank you Catherine! High Five! 🙌❤ Have a safe week! 🙏
Thanks so much for posting this beautiful video. I fell in love with the Sierra about 40 years ago at the age of 30. Took my son there a number of times. Taught him to fish there. Age and disease have taken their toll and I doubt if I could hike at all at that altitude. But what great memories your video kindled. It's my favorite place and you captured it beautifully.
I stumbled on this video and was completely floored by the beauty of the sierra. I’m now obsessed with hiking this trail! I’m going to do it. I’m going to make it happen. You did such an amazing job capturing the beauty of this trail. I can tell you spent a lot of time and effort filming and editing this video. You have truly inspired me, and I thank you.
Catherine another great video of hiking with your friends. Sorry your one friend didn’t get to make it because of not feeling well. Those were great spots where to camp where you were. You know it was cold when you found snow on your tents. Sad you couldn’t build a fire to keep you all warm. I loved the lakes and waterfalls. And just hearing the water it’s so refreshing. Thank you again Catherine for a great video. Stay safe and safe travels. See you soon!
I hiked the same area with 4 friends one month earlier, from August 20th to 25th 2022. Much warmer, I'm sure. Seeing your video, Cat, was a great recap of the trails for me, both the beauty and the sore hip flexors at the end of each day. We didn't through hike. We made a base camp at Garnet Lake and took long day hikes out and around 1000 Island Lake and scrambled cross country into the pristine high country above those lakes. All amazing. Recommend!
One of the few areas of the Sierra I have not gotten to, but always want to. Maybe next year! If you ever want a Geologist on one of your hikes, I'm your man. Thank you for the adventure!
i never forget the Milkyway i saw at Garnet Lake when i backpacked from the Agnew Meadows trailhead to Tuolumne Meadows back in 2019. it was my first time seeing it by accident. i got up in the middle of night to go to bathroom. I saw the infinite amount of stars right in front of my own eyes. Thousand lake is very beautiful. I love the "alpenglow" in your video.
Well.. I love that you say Exactly Where you at and where you plan on going! The date and weather conditions are a Plus. Hopeing a good start to Your Great Adventure and Many vids of ARIZONA!
Everywhere in the Eastern Sierra is beautiful. My fave place in CA. Have hiked most of the drainages from Olancha to Mammoth. Cant go wrong. So many amazing mtn. Lakes and streams and waterfalls. Sept. is best time.!
Hiked to Shadow Lake a while back. Magnificent. Was up in Bishop just a few days ago. Drove to Sabrina Lake - glorious color on the Aspens & had my coffee overlooking the Lake. #1 coffee spot in America LOL Eastern Sierra is still a bit of a secret to so many & Catherine, you have it right as to how precious it is !
Absolutely amazing. Feels like it was ages ago even though it was quite recent. Thank you for capturing an amazing trip and bringing us back to the Sierra this morning 😊. Absolutely loved the blooper at the end!
I recognized Ediza Lake from the thumbnail! I was there in August after a really heavy rain. Ediza to Shadow Lake looked like a milkshake. Beautiful scenery and video, as usual.
Once again, we're doing the same trips (almost) lol. I'm so jealous though, I was there last year for the third time. Best place in the sierras in my opinion. Mornings at Thousand Island are the best. And you picked the best camp spot also. I've camped there. Such a cool spot with all the rocks around you and great beaches. I did the Minarets loop past Iceberg lake this last time, just fantastic.
Waking up, IN a post card scene. Yes, Catherine shows us that it is indeed possible to get very close to experiencing mental bliss, when you learn where to go, how to get there. So very glad that these places remain as unspoiled as possible.
I love how your favorite spots in the Sierra are many of the places I ventured through in my younger years. Thank you for bringing them to me again. As until now, I have only seen them in my dreams. Please keep posting your trips into the eastern sierra! Thank you, Dan
Having grown up in WY and living in CO I think sometimes "why backpack elsewhere," but this summer we finally saw the Sierra Nevada. Wow! We did Rae lakes loop in Kings Canyon and explored the Yosemite wilderness. I'm definitely putting this trip that you filmed on my long list
My brothers and I made 3 trips from Agnew Meadows, 2 that ended in Yosemite Valley and one that looped back and ended at Mammoth. All 3 passed Thousand Islands lake and I especially remember the first time I reached the outlet of Thousand Islands Lake......the scenery was the most incredible I'd ever laid eyes on. Those memories are still fresh 50 years later.
I have wanted to do this hike for several years now. I have seen several versions on YT, but YOURS are my favorite. I appreciate the map-time showing what you did, but those stunning views really have to be seen first hand to be fully appreciated...your Camera does a pretty good job, though!! Until next time, Dear!
Camped here near June Lake this morning with morning cup of coffee in hand, the beautiful sunrise over my left shoulder and watching your latest video. I could not have been with better company. Thanks Cat
So sorry I missed seeing you all as I and my friend Grete we're there at 1000 island lake at the same time!!. Just past the first camp a bit up on the rocks. It was spectacular and cold and you said. Best hiking in to you. BB karen
Did you guys ever see anyone else? I loved seeing the duck truckin'. Wonder where it's mate was? They are so devoted to each other. I also loved that li'l pika {? never heard of it before!} and that beautiful bird! Awesome loop. Cheers.
I’m overlooking the area right now from the road into Devils Postpile. What a view! We’re cutting the trees for the road widening project. I was wondering what it looks like when you’re away from the road and tourists. Thanks as always for sharing! 👍
Just plain beautiful!! Words can not adequately describe the eastern Sierra. They are home for us too since we first visited in 1970. Thank you so much for taking us along on an epic backpacking trip. Something we can no longer do. Your video and audio work are truly professional. ❤
I hope you don't mind that I may repeat your hikes...this one was incredible. I'm new to backpacking...I recently did a section hike of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. I hope to have many more hikes using your inspirational videos.
This is a great one. First solo backpacking trip for me in 1969. Very different from Appalachia. You will notice the altitude. Not just because you breathe more but you will notice a big difference in temperature between sun and shade. It's wonderful!
Cat you are so amazing. You inspire me! Can you maybe do a video on good places for a beginner to do overnight hikes like this? You are truly living and its so admirable
I would love to see you do the high route in the Wind River range. I will go with you. Lol…I need to be with experienced people to do that one. Based on the pics I’ve seen and I’ve been in that mountain range before myself but that is the greatest stretch of hiking in the lower 48.
Easter Sierras are beautiful! The morning light backlighting on the surrounding hills/mountains is only surpassed by the super-reflective water of the lakes. Thanks Cat for your magnificent photographic summary of the trip, you are awesome! This is a wonderful welcome to the Fall season.😊
Thanks for sharing your trip! Looks amazing! Would you mind sharing your process for receiving the correct permits for backpacking in this area? Please and thank you!
I hate cold. No way would I be interested in doing this type of backpack camping. I can't think camping without a campfire would be fun either. It is beautiful for sure, but I'd have to go in much warmer weather. I would really enjoy seeing all the gear you take with you on the backpacking..like 5 minutes at the end of your actual video, just show what all you took :)
Panoramic Trail Yosemite. Go up 4 mile. Glacier Point. Panoramic. 14 miles. Gets you all the falls except Bridal. Big Pine Creek to Cloudripper with stop at Palisades Glacier. All 7 lakes big country. 3 days. Shepherd Pass to Tyndall. You can get Keith too. Kearsarge. Short 11 miles round trip. Parking lot is 9200. Mono from Tom's Place. Shorter. Gorgeous Creek. Personally I like Bristlecone and White Mountain. Long trip in out. 14 miles up and down White. But you park at 12000+ Cottonwood Lakes you park at 10000 plus and it is shorter hike out to lakes and minimal elevation gain. I liked Taboose Pass. Long hike. But it is a wide pass kinda unique. For the real out there experience go to Muir Hut wander around. Or go from Tyndall out Roads end. Or kearsarge. Banner Peak is out there area. The great middle. Florence Lake out Pine Creek through French Canyon or reverse is awesome. Traverse from White Mountain to Boundary Peak or reverse is great one.
