Damnit Man I had this bad boy when it was brand new, for my first quad I'd bought myself way back in 1988! I absolutely loved that bike, everything about it worked, The last two years I had it was when TSL actually made Mini Swampers For the rear, and I had them on 10' wide aluminum wheels, with headlocks. Two inches rubber, flat across! Killed everything I hit, Ripped Hill's, Ripped Verts like they were nothing, all the traction you could ask, with speed of that two stroke, and the power band made it the most fun bike I've ever had. That thing is freaking mint! Chemical to the first day I had it Red plastic, Red frame, on aluminum Wheels Badass!
The Banshees will never handle like the 250R does but you would have to spend a chunk of change to get the R to run like a healthy stock motor banshee with just a good set of pipes and carbs. I’ve got a banshee and it’s a nice bike with a lot of bolt on performance parts but if I found the right 250R I’d probably trade
I have 88 original but my plastic isn't in that great shape like that one!! It's faded some but it was cleanest one I seen till I came across this video. Super nice 250r...thanks for sharing
I sold my 89 when I was a yung man and to this day regret it. When I sold it their was a bidding war and I sold it more then what I payed for it. I fou d out later Honda was going to discontinue it. I guess the 2 bidders new that. What an amazing machine!
My dad has one sitting in a barn that’s bone stock. Hasn’t seen daylight in 15-20 years. Going to sell it soon. How much is one like in the video worth?
I have a 88 r that's 90% original fenders included. It's nothing like this one though. This is beautiful. How much you get to restore a trx like this? I don't need it perfect because i will be riding it.
I'm gonna ride it. I really just need the engine rebuilt. It had a Wiesco crank when I got it and a piece of the crank peeled off and jammed up in the bottom of the piston.
How often do you come across completely grenades 250Rs? I was trying to find an 88 or 89 with a blown motor as long as the cases aren’t busted and the frame isn’t cracked. I’m trying to build one for XC racing
if i own a 88 250r like that i wouldn't drive it . maybe few times a month round my yard but that it . my cousin had a 1986 4trax 250r his dad buy it from him in 1986 brand new i think it cost little over $2000
@@darestorations oh that's not bad I'm just finishing up a full restoration on one of these & I have that much into it, I'd pay $15,000 for that one easy
A bike that nice would actually be a burden to own, you could never go out and truley enjoy it and ride it like you stole it, it's best to let the collectors and hoaders keep these bikes and look for an ok shape rider quality one to use. I would be too scared to scratch it up or even get it dirty, you would spend 10 times longer cleaning it and detailing it than you would riding it.
it's probably the ocd in me, but watching you drag your finger across that dusty plastic was cringey. taking the plastic off and on could have been done in a more careful fashion too. lol
