Yes, so many other ways to socialize! Granted, I did have a positive social experience when I was in school between group projects, recess, lunch, and the school bus. So school is one way to socialize kids, but by no means the *only* way. So thankful for all the options we have in this day and age for that! I definitely wasn't sure if I was capable of homeschooling when I first started, but I have realized I am more capable than I thought I was...just like so many other parents out there. It has been such a journey of growth and confidence boosting for myself too! I'm so inspired to hear about homeschooled kids like your niece going to medical school! We will not by any means pressure our kids to go to college, but the things they want to do will probably require it. So it's inspiring to know we can make that happen and prep them for college at home. Thanks so much for this video! ❤️

YES!!!! Educational freedom is such a tremendous gift and blessing! I *still* doubt if I can do this at times 😂

Spot on! I can't even tell you how many people ask me about one of these myths every month. Especially the socialization question. It always makes my blood pressure rise. However my oldest is starting "5th grade" (based on age) and we tend to make the homeschool decision year by year, but the idea of homeschooling high school freaks me out. We have a few years yet but the idea of transcripts, chemistry, and calculus gives me anxiety.

You are not alone! It makes me freak out a little too, but I know plenty do it & we can too!

@@ourunrulynest9568 I know, that is what my husband says. He was initially against homeschooling but we just started year 3 and he is a complete convert now. He agrees its a year by year decision, particularly in light of my work schedule and I do all of the teaching, but he's my biggest supporter and tells me all the time I can do it. I think having that family support (our parents are also very supportive) keeps me going and makes our homeschooling journey work.

Love this video! We have been homeschooling for a few years now and we also full time RV, the outdoors on the picnic table is our favorite spot for doing school work. Over the years we have done so many different variations of homeschooling, some years it was more unschooling, some more rigid and we have loved trying it all. Now we do a combination of both, on travel days it’s more life learning and visiting places we have read about. I agree with everything you have said in the video 😊👍

Love this video ❤. I wish this video existed before I started my homeschooling journey as it would have eased a lot of my fears going into it. Your myth about having the patients of a saint 🤣 I literally laughed out loud for that one. I am definitely not a patient person and like you said, it is a skill I have had to develop. Same with setting boundaries and allowing time to myself. I had to learn to tell my children that I needed time to myself and not feel guilty about it.

I'm homeschooling my disabled child. People will ask what about socialization?! Some of these same people are then the same ones who fight against the inclusion of disabled kids\kids with IEPs in gen ed classrooms because they feel kids like mine will detract from their child's education. Even more classes like art and PE. So honestly I think these questions about socialization are simply IRL concern trolling. They don't actually care if or how my child is socialized. On the flip side of that, they only want their kids to be around other children like them. Sure that's great for class management but your child will interact with many different kinds of people out in the real world and being in close proximity to 20 or so other kids near your age every day isn't the end all of socializing.
