GreenValleyVans is excited to list this brand new 4x4 diesel sprinter. It hosts every option available for a true off the grid boondock camper, all while maintaining a sleek open floor plan. All materials and finishes have the highest durability available from the 11 ply u/v furniture grade panels that are water and solvent proof to the Corian counter top that is stable in any climate. This van boasts 3" of poly iso in the ceiling, 2" of poly iso in the floor and between 3-6" of Havelock wool in the side walls. To complete the exterior we utilized Artic Tern double pane awning windows with built in shade/screen. In the rear entry of the van there is floor to ceiling built in bug screen and privacy/projector screen. In the entry way there is a large 32x32" shower with an easy to use magnetic curtain. This layout was possible by use of a queen size Murphy bed that is spring counter weighted to make for a easy to open and close bed. Mounted in the bed panel is a 32" 1080p i.p.s monitor that provides the highest viewing angle of any monitor on the market. Climate control is provided by a combination of a high efficiency rooftop ac/heat pump and for the coldest climates a Webasto d2 diesel heater. This van also manages to fit one of the largest battery banks available on the market. To provide power for days at a time we installed a 10,240 watt 48v battery bank fed into a complete Victron power management system. To make sure this massive battery bank can be charged in an adequate time we opted out of solar and utilized a 48v alternator controlled by a wakespeed 500 which allows it to be charged in under two hours from empty.
Now for the quick spec list.

I met Paul and Hunter in early 2022 and was very impressed with their creativity, skill, and craftsmanship. Back then, they were installing fixed shower bathrooms in the back of the van. We chatted about a hidden shower. I was impressed with Hunter’s planning and executing of this hidden shower, with the two drains, magnets at the top and bottom of the two shower curtains, and how the curtains can provide privacy for the toilet, if necessary. The hidden shower and Murphy bed really make the shorter vans more practical. For me, this is the perfect van, expertly crafted.

Nice work! I made a similar shower tray about 4 years ago as seen here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EMv3YK-qQ8A.html A couple of things about it though: You need to be able to put the shower curtains through the washing machine regularly, so went for hooks instead of magnets. Otherwise it won't go through the wash. I planned to shower on the wooden tray, but now remove it before showering, so after showering I can put it back in for a dry floor. You don't want a wet floor after showering :)
@jaytabac6525
@jaytabac6525 8 месяцев назад
great points. good example of how the 'wow effect' of seeing a cool design can clash with the realism and practicality. the truth is that the shower curtain needs to air out and dry or else you are looking at problems with smells and mould. so . . . if you are a boondocks, you will need to think about how to hand it out regularly. still a cool design.

Very nicely built. These videos are so useful for getting inspiration. Pre-pandemic, I did a self-build conversion (with basic skills and tools) on the road outside my house. I had a lifting bed - just using sail ropes and block and tackle to help lift up, which worked very well. When stowed, it was about 1.5m (5ft) height underneath, so I had the seating under there. It was at the front of the van, and when stowed you could slide it about 18" above the cab to reduce the low height section. The rest of the van was full height with a normal domestic under counter compressor fridge (converted to 12v, but next time I'll just use standard 240v AC from the inverter), LPG gas hob and oven, a sink with a retractable shower tap and a recessed shower tray as this guy's done (but my effort was nothing like as professional looking!), a swing table made out of a bit of oak, and more storage than was necessary. All the electrics was from solar (no alternator from the engine or shore supply). In three years I used the shower about four times (the rest of the time I used service stations, campsites, lakes, or just had a flannel wash). Every other van person I've met says that the shower was a priority when they built/bought the van, but then never use it. So a system like this I think it's a good compromise - it doesn't take up space. The retractable tap means you can use it outside of the van to wash stuff (or shower). Next build will have a similar layout, the bed worked very well (although I'm tempted but the Murphy) but probably no shower tray, and I'll cut down on the storage, and hopefully build it so it's more professional looking. As it was an old van that I bought for £4k ($5k), and I did everything myself, the whole cost was about £8,000. As well as cost, my priorities were as low tech as possible as I planned to go to West Africa in it and didn't want it to be too reliant on tech that would be affected by dust and difficult to fix, and although it was a 2wd van I had BFG AT tyres that gave a 1-2" lift and was very effecting on gravel pistes in Morocco. Sadly the standard Mercedes rust took over and I had to scrap the van. Next time I'll use a Fiat Ducato.

Great narration, the hippy sounded like a pro announcer! Kidding..., but no uhs and ems, he talked good. On a more serious note, just because it's a 48 VDC system, is no reason to not have solar, two 60 cell modules, wired in series, will produce their best power at about 30-32 volts. Run that 60-62 volts thru a quality MPPT charge controller, set to a 48 VDC battery, simple.
@paullehto2294
@paullehto2294 Год назад
Solar makes sense if you stay in one spot for at least 3 days. Most people that buy small 4x4 vans are Exploring daily and have alternator keeping them fully charged. You can easily add solar but I don’t think it would be needed. Save $4000

Man I don't want to be a hater but I gotta point out that it doesn't look like you can make use of the bed and the tv at the same time and most of the storage space is filled with overkill electrical. I mean you really don't need all that electric right? There's not many places to put in larger appliances. Kinda feels like you're driving a big battery

I think this is the best van I've ever seen. Only two things I would change. First, it would be nice to have the capability for solar production. I'm not sure if they make 48 volt panels, but they might. My house has 220 volt panels (never heard of them before they installed). The other minor thing would be to have the tank monitor up where you can check it easily, instead of near the floor in the cabinet. Anyhow, great van design!!

Whoa! Another top-of-the-line creation. And mega-storage possibilities. I like it a lot! Not sure I completely understood the the power structure (without solar) - does it charge from the engine in a super-efficient manner? How long would you be able to go without turning the engine on (let's say if you didn't use the induction cooktop & did not use the microwave)? Thanks for another great video, Patrick!
@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures
@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures Год назад
Glad you like it Darlene. You can go a full day without starting the engine. The DC to DC charger will charge the battery much faster than solar
@GVV860
@GVV860 Год назад
Thanks Darlene 😊 With such a large battery bank charging from solar, it would take roughly 5 days of sustained sun with 400 watts of solar . So, to make sure it has the most efficient charge rate, we used a 48v battery bank coupled with a secondary 4,800 watt 48v alternator. At cruising speed, it will completely charge the battery bank in two hours. While exterior temperatures can fluctuate its power consumption with the air conditioner, you could expect the battery bank to last 2-4 days if running the a/c (average 8 hours a night) and using the induction cooktop (.5-1hour).

where do you put your clothes? the narrow drawers in the kitchen area might hold pots, pans, cups and plates, but all of the bottom cabinets have equipment in them - even when there is additional room in them, I'd hate to be putting anything in front of the inverter, etc. Every time I thought "there's the storage" nope, it's a wayer heayer or other rqjipment. The only eqjipment I didn't see that I'd need was a heater. 5+" of insulation is nice but I'd still want a heater. This van would not be for me.

I'd be very curious if I see a feature I haven't seen before. A murphy bed that can come down in two parts, split down length wise. For Instance say someone wants to sit at the long couch but another person still sleep. The murphy bed could come down where only 1/3rd or 40% of it pulls down length wise so one person has the bed to lay at and the other person can still use the long couch and have room for some type of lagoon table in the middle. The idea is, the murphy bed could come down as 1 & 2 options 1: full bed pull down and 2) one side of the bed pull down thus there may be a latch which connects both side of the bed lengthwise you you have both options (full bed pull down, or 2) detach latch connecting both sides of murphy bed so only one side can come down. Yes I am aware there are other van home set ups that allow one person to lay in a usually full sized bed and another person sit in a smaller seat with a desk, or, like I think Sarah & James channel where the entire back of the van can be U shapes so one person may lie on one side of the seating area while the other person still works and sits at the other side, but this is not what I am talking about. I'm referring me to a murphy bed that can split so only one half length wise can come down. I also mentioned about 40% of the bed coming down to still make it easier for the middle walkway to have a bit more room than if 50% of the bed came down.

With a full tank of water and me in the driver's seat it weighs 7,300 lbs, which leaves 1,750 untill is max gvrw
@christopherbrown6697
@christopherbrown6697 Год назад
Wondering myself what it adds to the base van weight. A lot of materials shown: 80-20, door struts, lots of plywood, are not the lightest options and they can really add up.
@GVV860
@GVV860 Год назад
@christopher brown the curb weight with me included (155lbs), full 28 gallon tank of fresh water and full fuel tank is 7,300lbs. With the max gvwr of this van being 9,050lbs, it leaves an allowance of 1,750 lbs. The build out weighs roughly 1,800 lbs. There was a lot of attention paid in the overall weight when constructed. There's always a compromise in material when weight is a consideration. Given the amount of potential for wear and tear in a smaller space, I preferred to use a higher grade 11 ply maple. Although there are many options available for composite core veneers, I've yet to see a good solution in the overall rigidity of cabinetry when used. I do prefer the upper cabinet face frame to be 10 series 80/20 for its strength and securement to the ceiling. With is liner weight at .54lbs per foot, it is double that of poplar wood and around the same as oak. Given that there are only around 40 linear feet in the cabinetry, its overall weight is fairly insignificant at 21lbs.

MISSING INFO FROM VID ON THIS AWESOME VAN -What wheelbase is this? -More explanation re: how electric needs met/produced w/out solar - how does the addl equipment do that? Does the build-out company measure or reduce VOC off gassing in this very tiny, enclosed space from the iso insulation, memory foam mattress, cushions, fabric wall coverings and likely the UV protective coating on all woods. Health/safety BEFORE beauty. Thank you

Hey Clare, also to clarify the battery bank recharging . With such a large bank, it's unrealistic to keep it charged with solar. So with this van, we used a 4,800-watt nation's alternator controlled by a wake speed charge controller. This alternator can fully charge the bank in two hours, while 400 watts of solar would take roughly 26 hours of direct sunlight to achieve the same. We are also very conscious of off gassing and v.o.c in confined spaces. The poly iso we use in the floor and ceiling is r max, which is hcfc and cfc free . In the walls, we use Havelock wool. The wall materials are sunbrella acrylic fabrics that have zero voc or off gassing. All adhesive used is 3m fastbond, which is a water-based latex contact adhesive. The plywood is columbia Forest Products uv coated maple which has an ultra violet cured water-based coating that is impervious to solvents or water-based cleaners. It is also formaldehyde free and zero v.o.c. For the mattress and couch, the memory foam is CertiPur-US approved and one of the lowest available. They also have a fiberglass free cotton and polyester fire sock internally.

Game changer!! Very impressive build. The magnetic curtain is brilliant- the silly little hooks on all the other shower curtains look like a pain to set up. The magnet system makes the curtains so much more useful- you can hang them anywhere to use or dry them. My only suggestion is to have a spray nozzle next to or on the sink faucet in order to better clean out the shower pan when needed. And big THANK YOU for making the most info packed video under ten minutes! I can't stand the ones that drag out for half an hour. Thank you for your efficiency Hunter! 😄

Good to see a Murphy bed in use, it seems so obvious for a camper, but so few have them?!?! It does appear, however, that this particular camper seems to be a bit of 'overkill' with every single adaptation on the market! Where's the idea of 'roughing it' out in the wild?!?! I'm stealing the Murphy bed idea, but you can keep your gadgets! I prefer the basic approach, plus it's gonna save me £££££££'s! 😃
