To answer your question about the underwater wreck, that is where a big naval battle took place, specifically the US navy bombing of Truk Lagoon also known as Operation Hailstone back then it was called that in 1944 in World War 2 and I bet that is a Japanese ship wreck I believe since the US and Japan were at war at that time.
