That’s why you gotta port through items/walls to force their path finding to take them on a roundabout way. Or teleport across the river back and fourth to put a gap between large packs to keep them from catching up,
@@sixmillionsilencedaccounts3517extra fast is not just attack speed for the leader, the unique and the whole pack of minions also get increased movement speed, when zach said they "legit keep up with you" he means movement speed
@@xMetaLloydx the single reason I've been avoiding Meph runs until I can reliably teleport. Without enigma or something these bastards are especially nightmarish. I'll almost reroll my run if I see lots of them on the floor.
What was broken about it? Any character have attacks to count it. It's just people don't want to use them. I use to clear the place easily on my Barb. Use regular leap to get to them. Zerk them down one at a time. It wasn't hard. People made it hard. Was it slower sure. But trying to kill them before you get cursed was a great way to die. You are swinging a bam the cures and you're dead.
I agree with your rankings, but let's be honest here - without these random dangers, our 90+ characters with good gear would trample Hell x8 and all of us would have stopped playing long ago.
You're not wrong there, regularly having monsters that are more dangerous than act bosses appearing any time, anywhere, without warning. You can't get better suspense than that.
im actually pretty sure llama is not complaining at all he is just "stating" things no? apart for that yes the things is that in a lot of game ur end game character is just unkillable (there is a game called D3 for exemple :p :p ) in D2 whatever character u are playing u know it can be finish in a couple of second . and surely makes it absolutely terrifying and incredible at the same time ... no place of underestimation . when i see high level 95+ HC player on D2 i find it absolutely stunning how they can achieve that ...
Hey MrLlama, thanks for this video, as a new player it's really helpful! I've seen these attributes on mobs before and I know I could have just looked up what they were, but it's really useful to hear your take on them to learn way more than I would have!
Just did a countess run, she was slightly outside the room with holy fire enchant, and I ported into the room and there was another unique pack in the room with fanaticism, and another pack at the other door with conviction, pretty much dealt with the whole list multiplied all at once.
Lama this is from google Fire damage will be added to the monster's attack, amounting to 66-100% of the physical damage. So some creatures fire damage is physical damage that’s why your first resistance didn’t work just letting you know
A separate list for bonuses that murder mercenaries would be cool. For that list I'd put things like multishot way up top. My dude gets wrecked by those shotgun blasts.
The Stygian Dolls in Durance of Hate are the most terrifying.. Don't know what they have they always caught me off-guard died too many times with them...
Something to add onto Llama's comment about holy freeze aura Holy Freeze's cold is the effect named "Chilled". This means it's a different effect from "Frozen", so "cannot be frozen" items can't help you against it. There is no item in the game with a "Cannot be Chilled" affix on it. This is why bosses like Duriel are so devastating in early-game.
No. Holy Freeze's freeze is a separate slow effect (similar to Golem's one), not chilled. Chilled is always 50% slow and it's applied every time you get succesfully hit by any cold damage. All of these effects stack: -HolyFreeze slow, %depends on HF level -Slow effect from items and Golem (which is the same effect) up to 90%, 50% cap on bosses/players/merc -Decrepify 50% -Chilled 50% Maxium total slow you can apply to any monster total is 85% so Decrip+Golem35% or HF aura (35%+) is enough for max slow.
When I played Summon Necro sometime some years ago, I had Thresh Socket who spawned with Cursed, Fanaticism, Extra Strong, Extra Fast and Physical Immune. All my skeletons and revives were one shotted and I had to restart game. Then when I went to the see Thresh Socket the next time, he was easier to kill but in the crystalline passage had a possessed wraith which was also one shotting my skeletons and even amplify damage or decrepify didn't work. I didn't play Diablo 2 for a month after that.
Love the video. For me it's 1: extra fast 2: cursed 3: extra strong Extra fast combined with so many things and mobs are just instant death. Aura enchanted is lower for me cause about half of them are just weaker elemental enchanted monsters (the other half is pretty deathly though 😋)
Lvl 77 sorcerous. Hell difficulty. Players 1. 700-800 hp. Sometimes an arrow from a mob will barely scratch me. Other times one arrow will kill me. Named mobs are even more dangerous. Highest rune to drop so far is Fal. NM difficulty.
The fire enchant and mana burn are perfect examples of why Blizz must fix these bugs. I cant believe and find it completely absurd that they release a remaster of a 20y old game and still didnt care about fixing these!
He must have forgotten Iron Maiden, its definitely top 5, will kill any melee character who isnt aware. Oh they removed that in 1.11. Back then they were hands down the most dangerous mob in the game for melee.
28:53 So you mean basically any hell travincal run? :P Also, yeah I ran into a fire enchanted conviction aura beetleburst group in nightmare the other day. I just skipped it
Cursed is so nasty. I did learn recently that Fade reduces curse duration though, so that's something! (Treachery OP). But it also reduces shrine buff length.
do multi-shot lightning enchanted mobs exist in d2r? i havent encountered one yet...I remember the MASSIVE rolling charged bolts from it back in the day though
I was under the impression that they patched the game at some point so Multi-Shot and Lightning Enchanted couldn't spawn on the same enemy, on account of it being too deadly an enemy even for characters with high lightning resist.
That's why Lawbringer or Reaper's Toll is your friend. Decrepify destroys them. It literally reduces dps to 1/4. 50% slower attack speed and damage reduced by 50%.
My HC sorc died to wave 3 boss in throne of destruction. He had teleportation and fire enhanced. As he was about to die he teleported next to me and exploded. I'll tell you I didn't see that coming.
@@noslee2667 this particular incident was years ago. It just always sticks out in my mind with how unexpected it was. All my d2r HC are alive, 87 barb/81 sorc/79 assa
Cypher says to Neo of the Matrix, "Now I know you can dodge bullets mate. But a little piece of advice, you see a fire enchanted mob in nightmare difficulty, you do what we do, run! you run your ass off!"
Your content is just so great. no dumb 10 lists or "cool moments" just every video is a different topic about the same game. Also you speedruns are hot as f d:
I totally agree, he does great content including this video. But it's also a bit funny because you posted it here.... this is literally a "my top ten blabla"-list video... :D :D :D witch for me is totally fine, love Llamas content =)
I agree, I just strongly dislike his twitch chat. It's not everyone, but it's like the same 10-20 constantly doing donation to throw in super burnt out jokes. Both in his playthroughs and streams, it get so so annoying that most of the time I end up watching something else lol. But this sort of videos here in YT are top notch, which also explains why his YT following has surpased his Twitch following I guess :P
Wasn't there also a bug with lightning enchanted where if there are too many charged bolts some of them would become invisible? And then with the fire enchanted plus light enchanted combo you can get killed by an invisible bolt :D?
Cursed monsters removing your experience shrine 2 seconds after getting it share the number 1 spot with extra fast extra strong, lightning enchanted, mana burn dolls! 😭
@@Entertainment_Station_ES It's just a regular trinity with three aspects, the line below describes what the line above does. I guess reading thoroughly before replying with a snarky comment is unfashionable in your universe?
Favorite: Extra strong, extra fast cursed boss group in the vicinity of another - Might or Fanaticism enchanted - boss groups, the first preferably being Moon Lords. At least, the Frenzy is irrelevant as by then, you already are dead.
Hello Mr. Llama as a player returning to D2 after a 10 year break. I sometimes have proble.s remembering what each aura and curse looks like. Do you think u could do a visual guide to auras and curses at some point. To help out new and returning players?
that would be a nice video. However, the arreat summit is a goldmine for d2 information. Go to skills and look under the necromancer curses and paladin def/off auras tabs. It shows a picture and details of each one.
@@HyperNovington he is right, just go to Arreat Summit, you don't really need no vid...literally everything is explained there even for most braindead people.
@@pRiMeAndRhyme you could go to arreat summit for 90% of what mrllama talks about yes. The reason he is so popular is because some people do not like to compile information from a website. They like tips fr someone who has the information already. I.e why we watched this video and also why we like the idea of a video on the worst auras. Idk why this is a back and forth
Thank goodness they took Iron Maiden out of the curse rolls. That used to be the worst. Well, that and the multi-shot lightning enchanted. That was insta-death too.
With high resist and absorb those where actually fun. I had a javazon that took out the throne room council gang in open games. While the other players hid.
It's amazing how common it is to just walk into a room with 3 uniques and a group of champions and only when the loot starts dropping notice why it took you so long. Or that's just my Summoner/Necro. It's probably just my summoner/necro. (Good lord can skeletons last)
Absolutely agree! However some of the affixes affect different character classes differently so for instance mana burn + extra fast can mean DEATH for a sorceress and enchants are worse for melee characters, etc...
@MrLlamaSC I feel that all is missing from this type of review (Or "I actually would like to hear")... What's your advice/ best approach to overcome or avoid the high damage and/ or death? I honestly look at you as one of the most experienced D2 player and streamer so I'd like to know what's your method/ approach. No mater if you choose to add or not what I just wrote, Thanks! for the elaborate content you put out here for us! :)
Vitality dump outside gear requirements value hp/resists (mostly lightning and fire) on gear more hit a reasonable hit recovery breakpoint Know your damage and how fast you can move safely Hover over enemies and recognize monster affixes Cannot be frozen gear
Just lost my lvl 91 HC sorc by teleporting right in the middle of a pit lord boss pack with conviction aura. Lost 1500 health in 0.1 seconds from their fire breath
This is why Lord De Seis is the most dangerous superunique boss in the game. Always extra strong with fanaticism, then he almost always amps you. I also love tping into a extra fast extra strong doom ape pack in LK super chest huts. That’s an Insta death right there.
When making a port of an old game, there is always a tough choice to be made between fixing things and balancing it better, or trying to exactly replicate behavior that players are used to. So far, Resurrected seems to lean in the direction of trying to replicate old game behavior exactly - the advantage, of course, is it's obvious what the developers are trying to achieve, and they don't have to make potentially controversial choices (is something a bug or a feature? Would changing it be improving game balance, or nerfing the difficulty?)
@@alexeyvlasenko6622 A bug is a bug, they're described as bugs by players and devs and aren't intended to be in the game, therefore not a feature. Yes players are used to certain bugs, but that doesn't mean it's OK, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be removed. Certain bugs causing mobs to do 256x damage than they are meant to? I can't see anyone complaining if that bug gets fixed for sure.
During my many runs on PlugY months ago when I did my Mephisto runs every once in a while the fire ghouls elite pack that spawns behind him in his chamber area would be aura enchanted….usually Might aura. He one shot my super geared merc and if not careful would make quick work out of you….so yes Aura Enchanted should be 2 or even 1. Fanaticism archers in the Pits say hello…
I have a screenshot on my PC, a relic of the past. The file says it was made in 2008 Upper right corner says Maggot Lair Level 3 v 1.12 Difficulity: Hell; Expansion I'm standing as an Assassin in front of Warp Lust The Unholy (A Beetle boss) It's standing in the way in the middle of a narrow tunnel. Magic Resistant Mana Burn Stone Skin Immune to Physical, Immune to Lightning And yes. I was stubborn enough to sit there for hours to hit it down. "There's no way I'm save quitting on hell maggot lair lvl3" - thought 2008 me The screenshot was taken with it's HP halfway through. "If I only knew about the existance of the teleport staff back then." - thinks 2021 me.
How about Gloams with triple cold/fire/light enchanted (which all gets added to their lighting strike) + Dolls with extra fast, conviction, amplify? ;D
Every time after you give your personal explanation of why that affix is deadly... all I can hear in my head is the already famous quote: "NOW THATS A LOT DAMAGE".
The Dev’s turned everything to 11 for Hell difficulty. Inmunes... everywhere. I tend to play SSF, but really, the game was designed for 8 players. With that many players as a group, you’re basically a Beholder from D&D or a Lernian Hydra from. Greek Mythology. Paladin brings conviction, Necro brings lower resist and Corpse Explosion, Sorc Static Field, and it’s pretty much over.
In hell act 2 now and so far the only thing that scared the shit out of me was the undead little rat men / flayers, in act 3 nightmare right before mephisto ,they come out Of the dark full speed and instakill you!!
So happy to see Cursed at the top of the list. I was wondering where it'd pop up, but it's for sure the bane of my D2 existence more often than any of the others.
I think what's killed me most is either conviction aura on souls or pit lords, or extra strong + extra fast on death lords. Cursed archer packs as well something to be careful of.
And I have to ask, are you sure Lightning enchant has a bug on it? because it carries every double effect on it, not just other elemental enchant. like, a mana brun lightning enchant will burn your mana from the bolts. multishot effect is also added to L.E. or Cursed can Amp on you if the bolts hit. Maybe it's not a bug but they wanted that way. But because fire enchant and mana burn are broken, it breaks the game
Recently telied into a pack of Thorned Hulks with cursed, might aura, and extra strong. I swear to god they could probably one shot any character I've ever made in 20 years of d2.
I mean, I've been a casual player for years and this whole list gave me horrible flashbacks of deaths. I can't imagine how many high stakes deaths Llama's had in so many circumstances. That's like war PTSD stuff...
It would be nice if console was updated to match how the affix is displayed on monsters on pc. The small emblem and color can be hard to distinguish, especially when sitting across the room or hand held on the switch. Love your content
If that bothers you, try using a controller on PC compared to console. On PC when you use controller, a literal health bar pops up ABOVE the monsters head, NOT the top of the players screen. It's life altering and doesn't happen in the console version. PC version got all the good stuff...
@@madezra64 I play on ps5 and switch and I believe it shows up at both places, top center screen and above the monster you are targeting. Maybe its a setting? Not sure. At work. Can't check
@@madezra64 I'm on PS4, and that has the above-head health bars AND the tiny, unreadable immunity indicators. Truly the worst of both worlds, and I really hope we get a fix for it
You rated lightning enchanted way too low. Even with 95% resist, lightning enchanted easily 1 or 2 shots almost any character cuz of the lightning damage glitch.
There is so much they could do with the game with minimal effort. Imagine giving hell bosses small chance for 4-5 affixes and allowing multiple auras on 1 boss. ;D
Extra fast demons with this weird wind aura that deals damage... I got surrounded before I realized I'm in danger. Then I got basically stun locked to death.
I really, really hope they do away with d3 style affixes in d4. Mortars and laser beams make the game feel so cheap and makes all the monsters feel the same
This is also what annoyed me about boss fights in d3: you are not fighting a super tough demon, you are fighting the game with scripted events. Breaks the immersion and makes the game feel cheap. The worst was Belial.
With my summoner Necro, I faced the Ancients in Nightmare. With 24 in both Raise Skeleton and Skeleton Mastery. A single point in Skeleton Mage yielded 3 or 4 Skeleton Mages. I use SM for cold : the slow. By the time I was down to one Ancient, the Mages were gone. But all 10 regular skeletons survived to this point. To a physical immune Ancient. Stubborn, I wanted to see could I still persevere? I switched my Clay Golem to Fire Golem. My attack to Teeth. My curse to Decrepify. The skelliebros, all 10, survived 41 minutes of fight. All my mana potions were used. Teeth, at a few damage per hit did way more damage than the Fire Golem which made me wonder if the Fire Golem’s damage is actually set at the right amount. As I recall, the skill description had the Golem damage of fire and magic types to be 10x what Teeth did. But Teeth was the star of the show. But all 10 skellie a survived, and a Fire Golem can out-heal an Ancient’s damage the is slowed by Decrepify. At least in Nightmare.
I agree with that list for the most part. Here is my list 0. Fire + Lightening Enchanted 1. Aura Enchanted 2. Extra Fast 3. Cursed 4. Extra Strong 5. Fire Enchanted 6. Mana Burn 7. Multi Shot 8. Cold Enchanted 9. Lightening Enchanted 10. Spectral Hit 11. Magic Resistant 12. Stone Skin 13. Teleportation
Cursed is not nearly as bad as Conviction aura, unless it's combined with Holy Fire/Shock, which allows it to apply the curse without hitting you. Pure physical hits won't normally kill you due to their low base damage (150 or so at most), but elemental damage will, especially lightning, since it can sometimes roll 1000+ base damage. Also, a lot of enemies in Nightmare and Hell have elemental damage added to their normal attacks.
