@@meekmill1090 I don't think its cost of production is more than $200 as I've done lots of cost audit ( not of sneakers co. ) of clothing fashion brand & you would be surprised to know how little it costs to manufacture them. Advertisement & other marketing expenses are significantly more than its cost of production. So it's all about creating hype among sneaker heads. In economics term , & as per consumer theory , superior or luxury goods must possess two characteristics : (1) it must be scarce & along with it , it must be priced high. The scarcity of the good can be natural or artificial; however, the general population (i.e., consumers) must recognize the good as distinguishably better ( which actually happens with Jordan X Dior ). Possession of such a good usually signifies "superiority" in resources, and usually is accompanied by prestige. So they are called Veblen goods which consumer relates with their prestige & reducing their price surprisingly reduce their demand too.
