There is a lot going on in today’s video, we are decluttering and organizing the dining room. I am on a journey to minimalism and determined to make my entire home as minimal as possible! It's going AMAZING, minimalism has been such an incredible experience, now that my home is more minimal, I don't think I could ever go back to how it used to be! Lots of decluttering and organizing motivation in today’s video, you also get to see a real life break up… okay it’s a very dramatized break up and I’m breaking up with shopping LOL, it's interesting… well it’s weird and odd, but then again, so am I LOL. I also take you down memory lane a little bit, I also do something different in the dining room, it’s not done, which is a good thing, because there's a community post with a poll and this poll will determine if I finish it or not, be sure to check that poll out! We also discuss shopping in today’s video and of course you can always expect a very long and chatty video and of course you can always expect the hot mess that is I. This is video #6, the living room and dining room are one large area so technically this is pt2 of Video #5, but because the dining room is solely what we worked on in today’s video and I am just showing the living room completed (as well as the dining room, dining room before and after footage is at the end of today’s video) I am titling it as video #6, but the dining room and living room is just one large area. Hey there, your doing a great job with the decluttering and becoming minimal. I'm not sure if your house is a rental or yours, but I had a suggestion for you. On the hutch cabinet, it looks great empty!! In order to not refill it, maybe take it down and open up your dining space a bit. Just a suggestion. I can't wait to see what else you do in your journey. Keep up the great job!!!!

Too funny you mentioned that, so ever since we moved in here, Ian and i have always talked about removing the hutch! I would LOVE LOVE to do that! We own, so most likely we will, hopefully sooner then later, I would like to redo the kitchen when we decide to do that! We're saving up, may take a bit but hopefully we'll get there!? Can I just tell you how much I love your chatty videos? I feel like I'm sitting on your couch watching you declutter. I seriously have these same conversations in my head regarding my stuff. Loved hearing your thoughts of shopping and consumerism. We live in a capitalist and consumer-diver society, a fact that is so pervasive, it's just a neutral statement. Basically, we must work to buy what we need to live, and are marketed to for every scrap of what we earn, and if we spend more than what we have, even better for those trying to earn their own money. So I try to be very mindful of making consumerism work for *me* vs the other way around. It starts with buying LESS and less often!

I agree with everyone on removing the upper cabinets, but until you do, try playing around with decor or dishes that you have. Maybe placing 3 or 5 pieces in various cabinets. I staged my glass door kitchen cabinets that way when selling my house and it really looked good.

Agree 💯 it's so true!!! I would like to knock out my entire hutch, I feel like that would solve a really big problem 🤣 I actually have to go through my hutch again because it's turned in to one entire junk hutch, I noticed that happening a lot and I think it's just because there is so many cabinets and drawers that it's just easy to do that. I have just one suggestion, the stand in the corner holding the pompous grass, I think it needs to go but that’s just me. You did a great job on the living room and dining room. Love your videos and your personality 😃 You said that room feels dark all the time, so I definitely would not put the dark wallpaper on that wall. What I would put on that wall is large mirrors, opposite the windows, so they reflect the light and add depth to this room. Alternatively choose a reflective or glittery white or white-ish wallpaper or silver, that would also reflect a bit of light. But sorry that wallpaper is a no from me. Not sure where your poll is btw.

Just curious, have you stopped shopping at places like Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree? I'm so happy that you found minimalism at a young age. I started a few years ago but as an older person I don't have the kind of energy of drive that you have. Plus I have decades, not years, of excess stuff. Thanks for all the great inspiration.

As of right now, I only shop things that I actually need, will use and/or have a purpose for, it also has be something I will use right now, not a week or month or year from now. I havent shopped at Hobby Lobby since my last Hobby Lobby video, which was before the series, as far as Dollar Tree or any other store, its only getting the things that I need and will use, anything and everything I buy now i'm being very selective on what I am purchasing. But as far as the mindless shopping, the retail therapy, the shopping just to shop, thats all over with. No more of that LOL. The breakup is already done, shopping took it pretty hard but I think it'll be okay 😂 I also plan on doing the one in one out rule, which I am going to talk about in furture videos. Great question!!! Thank you for watching and being here with me XO PS I am SO HAPPY I found minimalism, it has been such a positive and incredible change, I dont think I could EVER go back to how it was.

I mean its hard, no matter what I am decluttering and purging, it is hard, but with the brand new items, I kept thinking, "this would be really nice to give to the family center, I hope that whoever recieves this at the family center, really likes it!" That made it really worth it to me! Giving away brand new items felt like I was giving someone a gift! And I love giving gifts! XO

Those empty upper cabinets could hold any white serving stuff you have from the kitchen to open up room in there while also using it as decor for those shelves.

Goodness, I remember that moment when I first started decluttering/minimizing, I couldn't understand why I kept the weirdest random things. The bathroom cabinet was my wake-up moment when I first SAW the clutter.

It's incredible how mindless life can be. Before you know it years have slipped by. I feel like I've been living in fog for the last ten years. Kinda like the hand shooting up out of the ground scenario, I feel like I clawed myself up outta the mess that I was buried under and also left a bit stunned at the state my life had gotten to. I love how you laugh at yourself and yammer to yourself all the time. Very relatable and entertaining. ✌🇨🇦

I absolutely agree and like Danielle said about the advertising. You might to a quick google search and next you know you see an ad about that same topic you looked up. It’s frustrating and an unnecessary invasion all. The. Time.

Do you need 3lbs. of crayons? You organized, yes, but do you think you could have reduced the number of crayons? And that’s just one thing. Organizing and decluttering are two different things. De clutter first, minimalise first, then organize. Using crayons as an example, decluttering comes first. 2 of each color is plenty. I can see why this happens tho. They’re organized in a bin. They look great. Not scattered about everywhere. I’ve done this. But real minimalisation means reducing even further.

I think you should take down the cabinets. They make you want to put stuff in them. No I am not kidding.LOL told you we are best friends. I also must have a whipped cream break! See what I mean. I love shopping too. I forget what I order also. I must go back to check what I got. OMG🤔
