The Open Championship started here at Prestwick Golf Club - where Old Tom Morris laid out the original 12 holes and cared for the course. He lived nearby, in what is now a Boots Pharmacy.

The most famous 19th hole in golf also lives in the town of Prestwick: The Red Lion. It's the actual birthplace of The Open Championship - where the idea of finding the best golfer in all the land first came to mind. After a short walk down to the golf club, it was decided.
