Hunt for a bargain within the bric-a-brac at bustling Brick Lane Market, a market bursting full of antiques, stunning fabrics and kitsch collectables.
Brick Lane is in the heart of the East End and is one of London's most iconic streets. Historically it's been home to French Huguenot and Jewish immigrants, and now it's a centre for the Bangladeshi community.
Along with its heritage, Brick Lane is known for its food. The famous selection of curry restaurants and 24 hour beigel shops are London landmarks. In line with the vibrancy of the area, you can find cuisine from all over the world. Turkish, Japanese and Argentinian to list a few.
Once you’ve found your treasure at this market, refuel at one of the numerous food stalls in the area or head into a Brick Lane restaurant.
Alongside fruits and vegetable stalls, you’ll find plenty of street food vendors lining Brick Lane on Sundays. Try The Rib Man for some of the best ribs in London.
For street food throughout the week, head to Ely’s Yard at the Old Truman Brewery where food trucks offer tasty dishes to tempt your tastebuds.
The area is famed for its brilliant curry houses and Indian restaurants, such as Aladin Brick Lane, which serves excellent Balti and tandoori dishes. There are also several Jewish bagel shops including the popular Brick Lane Beigel Bake, which is open 24/7.

Why is it famous??? It looks a bit of a dump to me. Graffiti everywhere, coffee shop, leather shop, book shop, the usual restaurants and thats about it. Let the tourists take their photo's because I sure won't be in it.

Steven Hull You've got a point. I haven't been in London for many years, but I remember Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market from years ago, when it was just starting to get trendy. It was still undeveloped then, but it was much nicer. There was definitely no graffiti at that time. It was still a bit bohemian and appreciated for its amazingly well preserved Georgian houses etc. It attracted artists and the Truman Brewery had modern art shows and an 🎨 art supply shop with everything a painter needed. Yes, it does look like a dump now tbh. It had a delicate balance of restaurants and artistic types which has gone. There is little point in going there now, I think.

Brick Lane has changed a lot in 50 years. I used to go there on Sunday mornings for the market. I hardly recognise it now
