Nice. I like that the big bike makers realize that throttle only puts these bikes in a whole different class which prevents them from riding on bike trails. So many of the cheap ones don’t do that. Well thought out.

It's because the big guys are sold in multiple countries and must comply with all their regulations. Many are European which has the highest standards.

Wish I could. Most of the time the bikes I review are sold and or not available for long periods of time. I ride every model of bike but not necessarily every level of that model

Here is a good show of the capability of these 20" e-bikes; load it up as going on a long distance bike tour: 50-55lbs of gear, rider weighing over 200lbs, and attached to it a pet trailer and show how far in a single full charge the bike is able or at least capable of traveling.

I have seen a couple small electrical issues , but the thing is it has a two year warranty on electrical … so basically you can use the robust specialized authorized dealer network to get whatever quirk happened squared away. There are no known mechanical or water tight integrity issues

If you buy one of these, plan to upgrade the brakes $$$. When the Tektros fail you will not want to wait weeks/months for warranty replacement.
@doziershaw9765
@doziershaw9765 Год назад
I’ve never had disc brakes fail on regular bikes , hydraulics should be adequate since they are 4 piston brakes
@user-ud1jo9vh1k
@user-ud1jo9vh1k Год назад
@@doziershaw9765 I purchased my Haul ST on 4/16, it has been in the shop for right lever replacement by Tektro since 5/4, today is 6/2, and I am still waiting on my bike to be ready. I read in a post by a bike shop worker, that Tektro warranty replacements outnumber the other name brand brakes. I like the bike or I would have returned it. If I had been told it would take a month (or more) to have it repaired under warranty, I probably would’ve made a brake upgrade to a more reliable brand. The Specialized warranty only covers “Specialized” parts/components.

Not sure that this is really even competitive with other recent cargo ebikes, much less innovative or a game changer. For example, the Lectric XPedition is a superior cargo bike in several respects - dual battery, 150 mile range, and $1100 cheaper. You're paying an extra $1100 for the "S" sticker on the head tube, a nicer shifter and rear derailleur and 90 miles less range.
@emmcey

called a center stand , kickstand is the kind you kick down and lean-to. Center stands are commonly found on motorcycles. Very durable and good for maintenance ops

:) Specialized doesn't have it in Europe. I guess, hard to compete on saturated cargo bikes market with nothing special. Where are mid-engine cargo bikes close to this one in price.

No, it's a way to be more compliant in different municipalities. Several states have considerations where class 2 electric bikes are not allowed on typical bike trails. Just as a few states and cities do not allow class 3 bikes. This way it allows you to customize the bike both to what you want as well as what's legal. Remember, just because Amazon will sell you, it does not mean it's legal in your area. Lots of people are riding stuff that are straight up not okay, but because there's not enforcement, there's never going to be trouble till someone gets hurt.
@difflocktwo
@difflocktwo Год назад
@@JamesthebikeguyLike you said, there is zero enforcement so why bother? The whole class thing is arbitrary and broken. Just build the best possible LEV. Adjusting to the unenforceable regulations is just resulting in expensive toys. If you want to see LEVs done right where the common man needs mobility look at China and the sorts of LEVs they use to transport people and cargo.
