Most HEATED Moments From Bill Nye Debate with Ken Ham 

My favorite part of this debate is when can ham says to Bill Nye "you too can be saved" and Bill Nye just stares at him and instead of rejecting him he just says thank you and moves on and that was just a real human moment.

Anyone else notice that Bill seems to cringe anytime God is mentioned?

I appreciate that when talking to the public they each gave eachother a chance to talk without the other interrupting

There was obvious tension and disagreement and even contempt for each other’s beliefs, but there were no raised voices, and everyone was allowed to talk.

Ken literally talked about his legacy and leaving something for his kids in one part and then consistently asks Bill why anything matters if you just die and then your done.

Debating against Ken is literally like talking to a Ham.

It hurts my heart to listen to people with hard hearts and closed minds. Pearls to swine.

I've found, that when people tell you they are something specific, (like being open-minded) that they are often not what they claim.

One thing I learned in Christ is not to argue with stubbornness, let God treat with him.

I watched this debate live as an early teenager with my family. I liked reading Creation magazine as a kid, (I was even featured in one of their cartoons once after my mother contacted them telling them that all I would read was their magazines. I believe it was a picture of me -- a generic teenage looking boy, sitting in a beanbag with headphones on, reading creation magazine, and I was saying something like, "Hey mum! Creation Magazine is the most educational thing you've ever invested in!") because it was full of interesting science, albeit with an agenda appended. Having never heard science be presented by anyone other than people affiliated with Answers in Genisis, I was struck with how open-minded and factual Bill Nye was. It is no coincidence that now, years later, I have left the church behind me, and am studying to be a physicist. Thank you Bill Nye, I'm sure I'm not the only one whose mind was changed that day.

Ken is saying If there’s no proof it’s has to be God. Bill is saying we don’t know, that’s why it’s important to find a way to discover that.

My evidence-based belief is: People who promote a religion often benefit from it financially.

Nye - if we can’t explain something we work at it until we can. Hamm - if I don’t know something, therefore god. Nye is logical. Hamm is hopeful. Nye attacks ideas/hypotheses until it is shaped into something you can’t disprove. Hamm is trying to confirm his ideas with the end result in mind.

As a Christian I’m embarrassed by Ken’s performance. Argumentative and pressing. He’s focused on winning an argument and has lost the plot.

there are eye witness testimonies of people seeing and feeling Jesus Christ after he was crucified, not as a ghost but a living breathing person and were willing to die for that. That's really really big claims that point to Jesus is reliable and spoke the truth.

When my nephew was 4, he had no idea who Jesus was. He says to me "uncle, I have a message for you.", I said"from who?"... he pointed up and said "Jesus loves you and wants you to stop fighting him.". It knocked me of my feet and threw me back. I quit drugs right there and went back to God. I am now a Good fearing man and try to do everything his way because my way of life was terrible and miserable.

I see all these comments about how Ken Ham answered Bill's questions with questions. My dad was working with Answers in Genesis before the Creation Museum, I volunteered for this ministry a lot in middle school and high school while they were building it so I got to see a lot of the exhibits and material before the general public, trust me, I had questions and doubts too, and that's as a CHRISTIAN! I met Ken Ham and several of the speakers on many occasions and they did the same thing when I asked questions, it's not evading the answer, it's getting you to think about your belief and your evidence, answer the question yourself based on your belief. This is also a tactic I use with my kids lol. Yes, I have an answer, I am most likely right, but I want to see how they come to their conclusions and their facts, sometimes they have a point and it opens the topic for discussion and reasoning. This is all Ken Ham is doing, opening a discussion. Science and creationism need each other to come to facts. As a parent and wife and overall human being, I am flawed, make mistakes, come to wrong conclusions...but so does my husband, so do my kids. This debate isn't about right and wrong, it's about 2 worldviews and 2 beliefs. It's no secret that Bill Nye is an Atheist and Ken Ham is a Christian. OF COURSE they aren't going to agree on how the earth came to be. But if I have learned anything from the years I spent around a creationist point of view and secular point of view is to ask questions and do my own research. Ken Ham teaches worldview and how important that is in what you believe. I wish Bill didn't cut him off when he was explaining it because it would explain to a lot of people on here why we believe what we believe and why Bill believes what he believes. We all look at the world through glasses and it alters our perception on everything. As Bill said himself, science and facts are always changing. He believes in just the changing science, and I believe in God AND the science. You can say you got the corn from the store, but if you don't know the farmer who planted it, how will you really know where that corn came from or how it came to be? Obviously you plant it...but where did the seed come from? You pick it....ok, who picked it? In the analogy, God is the farmer, He has the answers. That's why as Christians, we have a steadfast belief. God gave us the answer thousands of years ago in His Word. Creation began with Him.

We are here that's how I know we were created by natural processes. We are standing in a building so it must have been created by natural processes.

Use your own eyes. No country has ever built an all wood ship the size of the Ark. What you can see is a poured concrete foundation, beam on post framing, bolted and articulated steel gussets, etc. The structure was built like a barn/building and decorated to look like a ship.

Ham asks a question, Nye answers. Nye asks a question, Ham avoids/ignores the question and asks his own question to redirect/misdirect the conversation. Bill Nye was so patient in his responses and tolerant of Ham constantly interrupting him. Think about it guys, what reason would someone have in avoiding simple, logical, practical questions? Because that person doesn't have a reasonable answer. Plain and simple.

That lady with kid recording in the beginning cracks me up. Recorded them on her phone watching them thru her phone and then once she was done recording she didn't look at them once with her own eyes. Only thru a screen. Do people actually live in the moment anymore?

I think Bill is a bit overqualified for this debate. Any person off the street with a bit or common sense can argue these cases. In addition Han isn’t very good at arguing his case and there are those again off the street who could make a better case for him.

Poor Bill. This is a good experience for him. He hasn’t allowed himself much internal dialog with God. He is outside his comfort zone and he is finally having a dialog in his heart and mind about why he doesnt believe and how that in itself is based on belief. 2:57. BILL - Yes, but the explanation that “you” provide is completely unreasonable to me. - Thats it in a nutshell. Like all us sinners before finding God forgiveness and knowing his mercy. Just rebellion. This is good training for his soul. God helps us become more conscientious, strong, and aware. Baby steps. Endurance building. Whenever the loser in any debate realizes he is losing or can't adequately counter his opponent, anger and even name calling is to be expected. It's all they have left. Whenever I see anyone just lose it in a debate where one side is very calm, well spoken, not overly emotional that's always a big L.

01:38 I can answer that with a bit more clarity, being a chemistry guy myself. The "information process" that he's talking about is essentially bonds and valence, which is dictated by the number of protons and electrons within a specific element itself. Because each element has it's own mass and 'pull' each of these elements desires completion. Carbon, for example, is a very flexible element as it can maintain a tetrahedral arrangement of bonds or very specific 'strained' bonds. This natural requirement for completion or stability is what led to these elements reacting with one another. The rest turns into a situation of 'how' things can bond and considering the primordial crucible that was the universe as it started, plenty of reactions occurred. Later, more complex elements gained better form and function based on those previous connections and also became more complex. Properties like this can easily be seen when you have something like oil and water. That same oil and water interaction is how the first lipid membranes ultimately became cellular organisms.
