General Omar Bradley once referred to this man's actions on D-Day as the most heroic he had ever seen in combat. This is the story of General Theodore Roosevelt Jr., the only general, and the oldest man on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

It occurred to me during this (excellent) narration of Teddy Jr’s actions on Omaha Beach that he must have made himself the most obvious target to enemy fire while directing the landing craft. It was a predetermined suicide mission for him. That had to been disheartening for any of the enemy who witnessed this
