Not only did she outsell every single female in the 2000s in pure sales as a solo female artist, but she dominated pop culture, pop music and the media for over a decade. She remained successful entering the 2010s decade scoring #1 singles and albums, outsold her previous world tours, then became the highest paid judge ever at the time for a music talent show on Television for a season, to then go on to gross over $130M with her first Vegas residency that would ultimately change the face of Las Vegas entertainment, as well as influence artists from her generation and the next to follow her to Vegas. It is only since wrapping up that residency that she has been more relevant within the media than in music, due to boycotting her career in an attempt to be free of her conservatorship, which ultimately worked. I truly believe that if Britney wouldn't of been stripped of her civil rights and was actually allowed to continue her career on her own terms like before, Britney would of continued dominating the way she did for much longer. Its definitely admirable to know that Britney chose to not continue because her freedom as a woman and mother meant so much more than her career, success and legacy.

Ok Britney definitely have way more longevity than what people give her credits for. In 2011 alone, Britney Spears produced 4 top 10 hits, 2 no 1 hits. In 2012 she hit a no 3 singles on Billboard with Scream & Shout featuring Will I Am. Britney was a hit maker for over a decade.

Most if not all of these Google searches are due to publicity stunts/controversies, ala Janet's halftime show, Britney's head-shaving, Rihanna getting beaten up by CB, etc.... it's not necessarily about music releases.
The big spikes are controversy. But the consistent oned are definitely music related. Britney was number 1 in thr 2000s even before her head shaving, divorce, etc. Rihanna stayed top 3 long after the domestic violence. But remember she was putting out yearly albums with multiple number 1 songs. Thr music is what keeps some consistently high. Otherwise theyd look like those who died - a sudden jump with the news and then dropping off the chart.

If there is controversy surrounding that artist during a specific timeframe, his/her searches will go ballistic.
