It is amazing that we see the shift in many people's minds from 'I just want to lift and possibly ever more' to 'I want to put my muscles under stress in the most effective and ergonomic way'.
The Elon Musk of powerlifting and weightlifting. I own the Transformer squat bar and Cadillac bar and they are worth EVERY CENT. Duffin builds equipment based on human physiology and his weightlifting experience. I have no association with Kabuki just a very happy customer!
1:50 - Kabuki improved the Transformer Bar since this video was recorded. It is now waaay more user-friendly (bye-bye 'settings cheatsheet') and you can even change the bar's settings (using a pin) while the bar is racked AND with plates still on it! It is now bright zinc plated and the padding is more robust, too. Oh yeah, and it's a little cheaper now, too!
I was training at the kabuki strength lab once, I fucked up unloading the bar and unloaded one side too quick. I didn’t know who Chris duffin was at the time, but after he helped me undo my fuck up, he introduced himself and asked about me and that was pretty cool
Jake Guenthardt the awkward part is I didn’t flip it quite yet I hung on to one side so I kinda sat there awkwardly and Chris probably noticed I might’ve been panicking a little before he came over and asked if I needed help
Never seen the triad before. What an awesome implement. Again 2020 ST has been pushing out awesome content! Lol the trapbar that is ez to load is fucking genius man!
The kadillac bar does away with the swing affect he's talking about with most multi grip bars that also occurs with low handle trap bars. It's why I've found it better that if you want to do that lift, it's better to use the high handles and stand on plates or whatever so that it's not unstable and you're getting that same full range of motion.
I always wonder how someone like duffin had done if had chose a combat sport like MMA instead of powerlifting. Not so much because of his strength but because the mentality of putting a thousand pounds on your back is same kind of mentality you need to want to fight people
The Kadillac is pure fucking genius and I need it! Ive seen people struggling with unstable football bars so often and it just seems like the best solution ever
I like that triad. Got me thinking of all its potential, especially in a home gym were you could effective 'change the weight' of the movement without having small increment of Db's.
That trap bar is a thing of fucking beauty!!!! I'd be at the gym a few years back and hate the bars they had, always something that's just frustrating af.
The trap bar is magnificent, got it a couple weeks back and I’ve been having a great time. The jack especially makes it a joy to use. I’m probably going to buy the kadillac bar from Kabuki next.
These dumbbells look great, I d get them over normal ones. But I'm really exited about the crazy racks Chris is developing, maybe there will be some powerlifting type federations centered around specialty bars
Ooooo shiny toys Also, is there any downsides if one were to train with a specific bar for about 2 months, for example the transformer bar instead of the straight bar?
Only if you have a very bad program that dont take advantages of these variations. And by training, you see that very diferent exercises go up together, like a bench press and a military press... And there is the aspect of protecting and stabilizing...
OK Chris I was showing this to my wife and she wondered if the Kadillac bar is just designed for men since she is more petite and thinks the angles you use would be off for her. Have you thought of a design that focuses on a smaller frame, female or male?
The first one struck me as odd. I'd think that the loading of weight below the contact point with the body would mean that it's less likely to roll off your shoulders. But if you need to have a special bar to be able to squat because of shoulder pain... fix your shoulders first. I understand that Eddie Hall can not grab a normal bar because he's huge, but if you are a gym-goer and not competing, then make sure you have mobility in your shoulders instead of reaching for a specialty bar. And if you are competing...make sure you have mobility in your shoulders.
I have to ask, are these available for retail purchase? I'm someone who wants to get back into the lifting game but have suffered many injuries in my lines of work. That chest press bar, and the transformer bar, hell, -all- of what you showed there in this video would benefit me like no tomorrow. Send me a message if you'd like to talk! I'm seriously interested! :D
Rogue is a trendy name, good equipment but overpriced. Unless you have years of training it's a waste of money, nubies, intermediates don't need top equipment, especially since chances are you won't stick with it. Bells of steel or strongarm are better options for vast majority.
Sounds out of breath from just talking -_- I've been lifting for 10 years. And I realize the importance of cardiovascular training in addition to strength.
