We are not exaggerating our words when we claim that rhododendrons are probably one of the most hated plants in this country - but this is for valid reasons.
Rododendron ponticum was introduced to British gardens and has since escaped and colonised numerous parts of the country, specifically with acidic soil. It has been a real problem in places like Scotland, and Richmond Park.
It is really pretty, but don’t worry only one species is invasive in the UK: the Rododendron ponticum, and you are safe to grow other varieties.
