Another great video getting me pumped for more work on the green stuff this weekend. Question: why dont you cut the perimeters in first, especially the turning ends where we end up fighting the bush or over hanging trees? I have to cut the ends in first otherwise the grass flattens where I have to turn and jiggle the mower to get a straight line. Question: I am working to get a half decent lawn but currently I have to work with a patchy lawn with areas of weak grass. My line definition isnt as so strong as on perfect lawns. Add in some low evening sun and you cant see the line definition so really easy to wander off track. Is there a way of 'burning in' some lines that would help?

I’m in a dilemma.. I’ve got a reverse sloped lawn (sloping towards the patio). It’s got all sorts of dips in it. If I’m wanting kill the current lawn with a view to level and reseed, should I be using 70:30 or rootzone? When would I use one over the other? Thanks for all the knowledge Dan. Never been bothered about lawns in my life but I’m now obsessed..

I used to be the king of banana’s but I’m getting a little better 😂❤ you’re right though,it’s “easier” to make a banana, takes patience and a little discipline and skill to make straight lines

Love the care you put in. How do you do the edging? The communal gardener we have scalps the edges lower than the hieght of cut with a strimmer. e.g. on kerbs edges, the sides of manholes covers etc. There is no reason to do that. It looks terrible as its brown and then will die off. before they started we were mowing it ourselves and the edges looked good without any strimming. Now it looks hacked to bits.

I’ve a Hayter Hawk, quite an old one I bought second hand.. it cuts really well but the stripes disappear overnight, sometimes within hours, AND I’ve set it quite high, around 5 🤷🏻‍♂️

My problem isn’t banana lines it’s that some lines are thicker than others. I do double stripes but I struggle with getting them consistent.

I’m just an absolute amateur but what I’ve learned is to look at a point at the end of the lane I’m cutting (instead of trying to align with lane I’ve just cut). But, after watching this video, I’ll pay more attention to lining up my mower before starting a new lane. Thanks! 🙏

Ive always thought it a gimmick that you can get mowers with a laser pointer on them. Surely the pointer only goes straight from the mower, so if your mower is off then your line will be too!

@@iSn0rlax-kv2neI still wouldn't use a string line that's just ridiculous. Surely the edge of the pitch is a straight edge? I'd edge that with a strimmer first so it's square then follow that with the ride on...they don't use walk behinds on football pitch do they?
