Most People Don't Know How Bad Inazuma's War Was (Genshin Impact) 

I hope mihoyo will add a story quest for kazuha on his rerun since he returned back his friend's vision on his grave.

That's why I felt empty after the archon quest. The development team did a great job showing the pain and suffering of a nation going through a civil war, but little consequences were shown at the end of it. Shogun's story quest was such a great opportunity for her to face the aftermath but we end up going on a shopping trip. I'm hoping that subsequent inazuma quests at least go as deep as they went with 2.0. Edit: Of course there are plenty of consequences of war shown all over inazuma. Thats because we are the players and we got to travel around. Of course I know Ei must be aware of what harm war can do, and awareness doesn't mean empathy. Like one of the comments said, she sees people of inazuma as just "lives" and thats fine for me. What didnt do for me is the disconnect in theme. It's the writing. We had two major updates on the war in inazuma. NPCs died from it. By the end of archon quest and shogun's story quest we challenged her idea of "eternity". But there are ways to do so that are more tied to the theme than bringing her to drink dango milk, read novels, take photos, and show up at a family power struggle. And it would be more meaningful to have those "lives" who were actively involved in the war to be the ones to challenge her in her story quest, not people in the city who were isolated from the active conflict like herself. While those in the city are affected by trade blocks, another group of inazumans died becoz of the conflict. It can help to close the civil war arc while dropping some hints of potential future conflict. I dont want Shogun to suddenly become Mother Teresa, but the writing on how she started to change her mind is lackluster. She started these extreme measures after her sister died. Surely she could learn a thing or two facing the people who have lost their love ones too. Want to show her child-like personality? Sure. Have that happen as part of something else instead of spending lines after lines about dango milk. I have Shogun. I've unlocked all her chapters. I like her character. The ineffective writing is just wasted opportunity that could have helped players understand and like her more.

Out of all the regions so far I personally like mondstat the best, there everyone gives you credit for what you've done and mostly everyone's friendly. I even remember most of the npcs names there. It feels like home

I feel like the archon quest ended a bit too fast. They didn't spread out the resistance plot point as much as I thought they would (for example, kokomi had almost no screentime when she was supposed to be one of the most important characters in the arc) and they didn't explicitly show the awful consequences the war had upon Inazuma's citizens and, ever worse, they didn't have Ei face the consequences of her own actions, they just told her sad backstory and that's it. I rly hope they make Ei see how much harm she has caused her nation in Act II of her story quest Edit: must I say that the reason to why she took such decisions was very well done imo but it was developed and told in the wrong way. However, the suffering she was put through is not an excuse for the harm she has caused her ppl by denying them of their visions

Once again, the traveler saved another nation but its good that Inazuma is back being neutral after the war, despite the damages they can fix it while some will stay broken if it is impossible

It's still irks me that the traveler can forgive Raiden so easily like nothing happened. Even gorou still hold some grudge to her coz she deserves it.

I find it so bullshit that Raiden is the one who gets the credit of stopping the eternal rain and thunder on Yashiori Island when it was Kaji (a regular citizen) and Traveler who had to clean up all the shit caused by the war thanks to Raiden starting the vision hunt decree

I'm really curious about what kind of things Childe has been up to. Despite how reckless he looks, he's actually quite a careful person. Promotional artwork and the music episode seems to hint that he had struck some kind of deal with Thoma.

What the... so all my hard work on sealing Tatarigami goes to the Raiden Shogun who is the one irresponsible ruler who couldn't even keep her people in check? I know the traveler would never get mad at others for hogging our credit, but I am furious...

I have raiden, love her gameplay, like her style and she’s almost always on my team. Her lore otherwise is poorly fleshed out, and received basically no backlash for the suffering her country faced because of her. She may have had a sad backstory but I don’t think that excuses the poor governance of her people and country in which she thought eternity was in best interest for Inazuma - instead her actions and negligence harmed many of her people. Genshin is capitlising on waifus, and perhaps wanted to make her look good and cute, despite having caused so much devastation inadvertently. It would have been much more interesting to see her acknowledge the consequences or seek redemption. I feel like Genshin will benefit greatly if they actually put effort in storylines for female story quests, rather than date simulations. It really takes from the quality of the game. Zhongli is extremely popular for his looks, just as Ei, but his story is extremely thought out, well executed and even touching. It is a pity it was not the same for her. Update since Ei’s new quest: Still stand by what I said, and glad that they’ve addressed these concerns albeit in the second story quest. The first story was poorly executed and could have been done better to lead into the next act. I am very happy with Ei’s development and story direction in the second quest. Although, Ei is not perfect and has caused her country to suffer, she is now moving forward. While it does not excuse her countries pain and sacrifice, it is good it has been addressed. But the amount of people willing to defend the tyrant she was (Even though it was through her puppet, she is the one who enforced the immovable rules regarding eternity and did nothing to intervene as it was her ideals), I’m starting to question whether people really care about the quality of the story… Even if you like the character, the writing can be criticised without being called a hater. I really like Ei so I am happy the second act did not disappoint. I still think the same about the ‘date’ situations, not only with Ei but with the other characters, I find it forced and quite random sometimes lol… e.g the recent implied date joke with Kokomi was out of nowhere lmao

I feel like Mihoyo tried to paint her out in a good light on purpose. It leaves us players to think about the issues with no one forgiving Ei (Gorou being the only character that shows resentment towards her, if I’m remembering correctly). I feel like it’s helping prove Travler’s sibling’s point about the truth behind Teyvat. That no matter how much Teyvat’s citizens will worship the Archons, the Archons themselves are not very innocent. Zhongli straight up just decided he didn’t wanna be a god anymore and faked his own death, leaving Liyue’s people to scramble and figure out what to do. Meanwhile, Ei caused a civil war and instead of apologizing to the Inazumans, she went back into her own head after canceling the Vision Hunt. (I honestly can’t think about anything Venti has done since he got his Gnosis snatched by Signora before he could do anything). In other words, the Archons aren’t as great as they’re painted out to be and I feel like Inazuma’s arc is trying very hard to point that out.

I remember being so furious at the Sangonomiya soldiers during Kokomi's story quest. They had the nerve to start the war again after all the effort us travelers went through to stop it? Oh hell nah.

Thank you for paying attention to and remembering NPCs so we don’t have to. I haven’t spoken to most Inazuman NPCs yet, so most of this flew right by me without notice in game. I really appreciate these small stories and bits of continuity Mihoyo includes in NPCs. It makes the world feel more fleshed out and gives the NPCs an amount of depth and development that isn’t a thing in many games. The one other game that comes to mind as having anything like this is Sonic Adventure, if you pay attention to NPCs

It makes me frustrated asf bc the traveler, out of anyone, should know what it’s like to have a family member taken away by a deity that they don’t stand a chance against. Yet the traveler is so trusting towards the shogun. The traveler was even on guard in the tartaglia story quest because he caused the things that happened in Liyue, or could have happened, but the traveler is completely trusting to the shogun?? It feels like mihoyo really tried everything to sell this character

Exactly why I don't forgive Ei and don't understand why we were so friendly to her in her quest.

All things aside, there’s a broken electro hypostasis in Inazuma. Like it’s sitting dormant. The caption when you check it says it’s in a deep slumber…not with all the chunks missing out of it. It’s literally broken, like as if someone or a group attacked it, beat it, let the prisms heal it, beat it again, and repeat until it lost hope in being alive. Inazuma is hella fuqed up if there’s literally a broken elemental entity sitting in the middle of a field, who sees no hope in attacking or even reacting. EVEN DOGS ARE DANGEROUS IN INAZUMA! It’s like the Australian Japan. Everything is up to no good over there

The last one tho. I actually discovered that location before I finished the archon quest. When I saw the cutscenes where Kazuha pay his friends' sword (idk if he was buried there or was turned into ashes) a visit, I immediately remembered that place and went there. It had me emotional when I saw his vision.

I like everytime he talks about Sheznaya or the fatui he shows Childe

idk why but Inazuma having a rather copout of a happy ending while sweeping the suffering of several people--including what happened in Yashiori Island--under the rug doesn't sit really well with me.

I don’t understand why the traveller was so comfortable being a tour guide and retail therapist for Ei without batting an eyelash, yet has no qualms expressing her dislike for childe.

Teyvat is changing around us as we continue our journey. I still remember the never ending rain in Yashiori Island, the corrupted Sacred Sakura tree and the fog of Tsurumi Island.

I love everything about inazuma but I can't help but feel... unsatisfied with the way the story ends? the vision hunt decree is abolished but the sakoku decree is still in place, both yashiori and kannazuka are basically empty of their populations, and from what I know ei is still in her domain expansion with the raiden shogun still in charge of inazuma. it's weird but with the other 2 nations so far, it feels a lot more finished by the end of the quests and stories there. I know it would be weird to have like whole villages and towns back in yashiori and kannazuka immediately after the archon quest, but I thought it would be a lot more 'fixed' than that, and we can leave for sumeru knowing inazuma is more or less restored. here's hoping for a second inazuma or story quest, possibly with the release of yae miko !!!

correction. none of the tenryou commissions actions were reversed. the only thing that was reversed was the visions. They still, have people sustained in their cells and are in charge of military policies and nation diplomacy. The head of the commission is retired and living his life relaxed and irked knowing his plans failed but failed to get any penalties. Hence all deaths that were brought by the commission were dismissed and forgotten due to the shogun's inability to even punish someone (that Kujo sara and Kokomi treaties were just full of bull. Who in their right minds would put their military power under the discipline of the Tenryou commission AFTER ALMOST CAUSING A WAR). BTW no they did not learn and still conspired with the fatui. we know this thanks to Kokomi's quest (which she herself failed as a tactician, along with Kujo sara) in which some of the tenryou commission still conspired with the fatui, making merchants hoard supplies from watatsumi and stash them in a place. Most likely to ambush and plan for the following days. The Kanjo commissioner will probably be pardoned. If the head of the tenryou commission is restricted to house arrest and nothing more, then this guy's actions are probably going to be pardon. Maybe replace him with someone else and have him as well house restricted until waiting for the shogun's punishment (which will probably going to end up the same way the head of the tenryou commission was. Man even Zhongli punished his people more swiftly and unmerciful when breaking contracts. And that guy also has issues). man to think this all happened because the shogun was a neet and couldn't be bothered to step outside and look at her people and instead opted to create a secluded nation (which many weren't happy about or appreciate it and some suffered in lack of materials and funds) and.....trust the fatui. But then again, what is a king to a god?

I'm pissed for Kaji and the traveler (aka us in that case) like... what ? WE were the ones getting through that crappy-ass weather, trying to fix the sh*t that RAIDEN SHOGUN and EI (to some extent) let happen, bc yes, they were aware of that, but they didn't cared, yet they're getting all the credit, you know what, let's forget about us, Kaji, that guy is true chad here, and he gets no recognition AT ALL ! It pisses me off like... for real. What makes me angry here is not the fact that we're not even mentionned despite having done the most important job here (well, a bit) what I can't stand is that it's HER that gets all the credit, I'm sorry, but she closed her eyes waaaay too much, she negleted her country, selfishly isolate herself for the sake of a goal that is supposed to come from a good intention but brings more problems than it actually fixes stuff. I remember her talking about wanting her people's well-being.... How about starting trying to get in touch with them ? What Inazuma needs right now isn't a ruler obsessed with a goal that no one asked for and is ready to sacrifice them for it's sake, what they need is a ruler that can fix the major problems ASAP, take their responsabilies, and work for a better Inazuma. I know it's easier said than done, but Ei doesn't even seems to try (well, there was a small progress but still...) she's just obsessed with Eternity.... I don't mean to disrespect her, neither hate on her, but what she has done is just not forgivable.... or perhaps it's better to say what she hasn't done. The situation was probably way better before all this mess, it will just leave a huge impact on the Inazuman history, and the people who witnessed it, imagine all the post-war trauma, the lives destroyed, the famillies that have been separated, the people who lost their lives, even their mind for those who got the Tatarigami etc..., nothing can excuse that, I know other Archons did "wrong stuff" as well, but in this case, we're here to witness how bad the situation was during and after the war

During this quest, I feel bad for the citizens, Kazuha’s friend and I like the part where we meet and join the resistance. And what do I get? Thousands of innocent lives suffering and deaths being swept under the carpet because the shogun wants to live in her mind with a sad backstory and let a robot govern the nation, has no repercussions for her actions because *waifu*

You know, I'm really getting tired of Fatui plots in the Archon Quests. I mean sure, it is interesting as heck since it gives more info about the Harbingers, but its getting kinda repetitive. I want the Abyss Order to be involved in as well. Like in Mondstadt Archon Quest, the Abyss had a hand in the plot. The fatui had too, but Abyss played a bigger role. I hope Sumeru will atleast have some plotline with the Abyss

Still cannot believe how Kokomi’s entire story line is completely destroyed... we received dry and boring story quest for her, in the main archon quest her screen appearance didn’t make any sense/never had any big impact. The new artifacts gives us a lot of lore on her and her sister and how they exchanged their clothes so they could swap the roles... it’s sounds more interesting than a dry peace talks in her story quest....

I sadly didn't like this chapter as much as mondatat and liyue's but im hoping future events can help inazuma

The biggest eyesore for me was how honestly rag tag and oddly incompetent the resistance was, And Ayaka never even had a major part besides constantly bringing up issues with the other commissions but not really showing herself in combat. But Kokomi just seemed really incredibly naive and not that flawless strategist and “general” she was shown to be, Most of the time it just felt like Gorou was doing the menial labor and trying to glue everything up Not mention they were pushed to incredibly far back into their territory before Baal even showed up. It’s funny cause they have the skills or titles like Flawless strategist or Forward onto victory but seemingly have been on losing streaks and barely standing a chance until help arrives. And not to mention that section of the chapter that made Kokomi look like a fool, The whole accepting mysterious resources from an unknown group. She honestly looked like a priestess that was just trying to playing general as opposed to a learning captain that was actively learning or being cautious. The last segments of Inazuma really just felt heavily rushed, or badly written, and/or just made no sense. I think even the scaramouche part about the whole the number meant the strength/ prestige of the Harbinger but Childe said something else back in Liyue (It was either or, can’t recall who said what) And it all just contradicted itself, but so far Inazuma had all its potential just rushed through and written in a rush.

Great video,very informative. Ik Inazuma archon quest had it rough with the pacing. But I still believe it has potential for future story telling. Especially since Ei has yet to find the answers to her quest for eternity.

Unfortunately the War plot was screwed over because Mihoyo had this strange shilling they wanted to do with Yae. Everything about the war just feels utterly irrelevant with how they handled it.

I honestly wish that the Shogun faced more consequences for her actions, sad backstory or no. She should've stepped down as the ruler of Inazuma, with a provisional government set up by the Yashiro Commission (headed by the Kamisato clan, naturally). Not only would it make sense, it'd be a lot more interesting. We'd get to see how Ayaka handles politics. Hell, this could have been her true intention all along; use the traveler and the resistance to overthrow the Shogun and elevate the Kamisato clan's power and prestige. It'd be fun to see a character with ulterior motives beyond "helping the common folk". Even if she is still good-hearted, I would've liked if she had a political agenda to accomplish; in her eyes, they could help more people if they were the ones in control. Damn, thinking about that makes me want to write a fanfic retelling of the entire archon quest. Introduce political intrigue, the horrors of war, ulterior motives, struggles of morality, character development and heart-wrenching deaths.

In all honesty, ei doesn't deserve to be the shogun of inazuma, so many people died during vision hunt decree, if she had looked over inazuma like a shogun does, fatui wouldn't have done so much in inazuma and tenryou commission's leader wouldn't have the guts to collude with fatui, ei was just powerful that's all, she's naive she's waifu but she doesn't deserve the shogun position👍

Ahh that’s why the Sangonomiya fort on Yashiori island is still there! I was confused to see the npcs there still talking as if the war hasn’t ended. But I love how even though the “major” war is over, there are still grudges and conflicts left to sort out. Just wish it was more properly handled in the actual story…

it drives me that all these people (the 2 heads of commissions and nathan) caused so much harm and all they got is prison/house arrest??

I think there's a misundestood of zhong li archon quest some people think that zhongli quit being a god but in reality he asked himself if his work was done because he saw how a man say to his employee his work was done , and if liyue failed to defeat osial he would have come back and defeat it again after all that's why he didn't gave his gnosis before. He was testing them and if someone is going to complain doing that without warning ,he protected liyue over 3700 years

i hope mihoyo in the future won't limit the archon quests in 2/3 acts only, so they can go in the detail in the plot and avoid rushing the story in one go

Inaba Kyuuzou's letter made me cry 😭

All of these and that is truly nice to see and to hear about the Inazuma Archon Quest, we can perceive it as witty, even romanticize it, and hide a bigger behind it all and it might be true... But it really doesn't settle the fact, without those factors alone, the story itself though good on its own, is the most rushed, quite bad for an Archon Story, and a bit of a failure to truly capture its supposed message in it, and with little to show consequences of it all, I mean sure you can only do so much in a game but still, it ain't a good reason to such a quite bad result, truly a miss on the story developers part and potential is almost wasted in it...

Teppei died and raiden shougun reading books in her story guest, its so unfair and the worst thing is that they didnt writing to show that unfairness its just "oh i gave visions back now everything turn into normal"

i feel like as a long time player now, genshin suffers alot from lack of story quests. a game with such an open world should have multiple different storyline quests except the only way we can access it is when a new character comes out. for the whole month of when a new a character is released you get one story story quest for them that lasts like 1 hour. theres just so much wasted potential so much wasted backstory that we could be getting. but with that said it would be harder on new players, idk i just feel like more could be done

This why I can't take people who try to shill Liyue archon quest seriously. Liyue has pretty much the same problem as Inazuma quest but they decide to turn a blind eye to. Except Liyue don't have the same aftermath effect as Inazuma has. People in Liyue go on with economic life as usual after their god " Die ". Sangonomiya force are still hunting down the fatui while despite Ninqquang empty promise to give the Fatui trouble for their terrorism, Childe in his quest still freely sending their troop into liyue

I dislike how the archon quest was limited to 3 acts, if only they allowed for more time to develop the narrative in detail, the delivery of it would’ve been more impactful. The way it was resolved without Baal atoning for her mistakes rubbed me the wrong way, especially since so many people were impacted by her decisions.

I feel like the Inazuma arc ending is similar to the some dystopian novels from what I’ve heard of them. It feels like it just boils down to “resistance good, defeat evil dictator, live happily ever after”

2 NPCs mention Tsurumi after the fog has been lifted, one is that dude in the back of Tenshukaku on the terrace thinking about sending people to investigate, the 2nd is an adventurer in inazuma city whining about not being allowed to explore it

To be honest, Raiden deserves to be hated or smth. This war is her and only her fault, just imagine how many people suffered and lost their siblings during this events...It's heartbrecking

I mean, I did enjoy the Archon quest, I honestly did and it's one of my favorites, but I can for certain agree it's definitely flawed and has pieces missing. What is more mind-boggling is the very same people who accuse Childe of being a "mass-murdering psychopath" (when he was not and actually did show remorse after his actions) are simping for Raiden because "booba sword". Don't get me wrong, I love Raiden's playstyle and design and I even have her, but damn, there is a massive flaw in her. Edit: May I also add something that many of us would agree on: The lore surrounding Inazuma are dark as hell, especially Tsurumi Island's.

Alright. I'm just gonna be completely honest with what I think about the Inazuma archon quest. It felt very rushed and incomplete. Not a lot of things have changed since the archon quest, it just felt like we went there, fixed their problems, made no progress in finding our sibling, and we don't even get any credit whatsoever. Don't get the wrong idea, Ei is a character that I'm planning to get in the future because she has an amazing gameplay, and can deal a good amount of damage. Seriously though, Ei didn't even try to help us, I don't fully blame her since obviously, she has to run an entire nation. It's also the fact that we never really got to know the characters like Signora properly. Her death was already foreshadowed a number of times before, and that last moment was literally her time to shine, and we missed that out. Ei's character was written quite poorly as well. I know that she wants to achieve eternity because she doesn't want her nation to die, but does she really not care about how many lives will be lost in the process? Her story quest literally involved us going on a whole shopping trip with a literal archon instead of being able to explore her personality and her fully understand her true intentions. Even the world quests of Inazuma (for example, the sakura cleansing ritual quest) explained what happened during the cataclysm which is ACTUALLY related to finding our sibling and Khaenri'ah.

After we get the omni ubiquity net, I'm going to capture Kazuha's dead friend's cat and provide new comfy home

My guess as to why they left Ei story more open is probably to link her to Albedo somehow, with him being a creation kinda like Raiden it's most likely they are gonna talk more about Scaramouche and how to defeat him in the future, since he's supposed to be one of Eis creations, modified by the Fatui. And it would be interesting to see more outside interaction in Inazuma, whenever Ei decides to open it up to the world again.

Inazuma is based on warring states or Japan and the shogunate Era, no wonder the conditions would be awful for those with little to no wealth or caught in between the factions.

It's impressive how people think the story for Inazuma is wrapped up already. There's still alot of loose ends that need to be tied up and alot of conflict to resolve. I know what I said was vague, but you can't tell me Inazuma's story is already wrapped up in just 3 Arcs. Mondstadt and Liyue still have alot to show for, we haven't even met certain characters that have already been hinted in dialogue or journals laying around places of interest, it's impressive people think Inazuma's lore and region building is ONLY amounted to the details mention in the Story Arcs, it's a real small brain thought process, truly tragic. Keep in mind we haven't even touched on Enkanomiya yet, The Deep Sea where Kokomi and the people of Watsumi originally were from, that Orobaxi(Watatsumi Omikami) saved from the Dragonheir of the Depths. And this is just one of the things to look out for. Keep your eyes and attention span open people. Pay attention to minor details for goodness sake, there's alot to look into.

It really hits me how far we're going. We started by saving the city of freedom from a corrupted dragon and helped bring the dragon himself back to the nation's side. We've already solved a war going on in Inazuma (like we even had to fight the Archon herself). Fontaine's part in the video implies we might be solving crime cases or whatsoever. We haven't even reached the nation of the Harbingers, not even the destroyed nation Khaenr'iah or Celestia. Really, how dark is the story going to go? Where will be our final destination?
