I have never ever done weed once, even coming from a country where it wouldnt affect your record. Its really hard to find someone that didnt do weed ever apparently.
Back in my day 1986 on parris island they asked for all the criminals that believe they need a waiver there was 10 of us that raised our hand ,mine I was not going to be able to pass a uranalist test for drugs . A time of amnesty talked to a captain who made a phone call and got me Waved ,I told the captain that I smoked two tokes on December 31 st, New years eve the only time that I tried it ,obvious like but no problems 3 months later a Marine ooh raah
I had 64 recruits in my platoon. The 3rd day after black friday, we dropped a recruit due to "suicidal thoughts". He really just wanted to get out. We dropped another one who fractured part of his leg during phase 2 hikes, and another recruit right before the Crucible to more "suicidal thoughts". You can get through boot camp. it's really not that hard. Just take care of yourself, and don't do anything stupid that will end up with you breaking something.
BetterNerfJeff I told my recruiter (back in 2011) that I smoked a little in the past. he said "so you've never smoked weed before?" I said yep. the recruiter will do almost anything he can to get you in plus they have waivers for almost anything imaginable, don't sweat it.
TheLegend27 as long as ur not pissing green urine at meps your cool don't mention it if your not smoking and if you are quit wait 90 days to be safe then speak to a recruiter
I know a guy who was admitted to one of our military academies (I won't say which one) and after he was there he admitted that he had smoked pot as a teenager. That caused all kinds of shit to come down on his head and he was going to be kicked out of the academy but his father was a retired high-ranking officer from that service and he was able to pull some strings and got his son a "waiver". The moral of this story is that if you don't have high-level connections you'd be better off keeping your big mouth shut because no good deed goes unpunished.
Yep, just as long as it's not in your system when you arrive or when you're on duty/work. You have to be competent for duty or they will/can take you to medical/base hospital and draw your blood and get a blood alcohol level. If it's too high and I'm not talking the limit to drive (0.08-0.10) but like 0.02 you can be punished.....Office hours, captain's mast, Article 15 hearing, or even a Courts Martial depending on what your MOS is or what you're doing at the time. Different services call their non-judicial punishment (NJP) different things.
The worst is if you think everything's fine and then after a little shakedown via physical activity a problem pops up. I imagine it feels like a self betrayal.
its still federally illegal. The states do not have the right to say its legal. If a federal officer seen you smoking weed in a state that allows it you can still go to jail
Although it may be legal in certain states, it's still technically a federal law that smoking weed is illegal. Doesn't matter where you were when you did it, you still could be disqualified.
This happen at a poolie meet, except it wasn't for the most part, it wasn't documented but 10 kids stand out, their recruiters almost kill them (rip their contracts apart) afterwards
I just came back San Diego got dropped from bootcamp I’m 26 I’m disappointed, but I decided on t7 was my last day there , caught a case before I left I just knew it was the right thing to do , since I knew sooner or later they would find out about it , why waste my time there just to not finish bootcamp. Or even worse get more in trouble after completing training . I refuse it on t7 got arrested , just made it home 3 nights ago , but I will try again . At least I know I’m prepared to what to come
I always wondered why I got interrogated so often in boot camp about drugs, thanks for explaining. Do they really send you home if you say yes? Seems extreme.
DanielNL still illegal federally, so even though it's legal in like say California it's still illegal for you to smoke weed for the military, also Midshipmen and Cadets (people in ROTC) aren't allowed to either
DanielNL It's legal in some states, like in my state of CO, but federally it's super illegal. It's a schedule 1 drug, listed next to crack, so people get locked up/in big trouble over it all the time. It's pretty crazy. Medical marijuana is legal in 28 states though, so there's that good news.
Not in the Marine Corps. That's all that matters. I've heard of Marines trying to justify that it was legal in the state and still had differentiating penalties. Most paid some form of fine. Just don't do it, or don't join. Or just do it after you EAS.
Bloodmane1987 change weed to alcohol and you could say the same thing.the 2 are not treated equal. Probably the biggest reason is that smoking weed opens up your mind to other ideas and it makes it harder to be indoctrinated and controlled. You're not going to get blind obedience with people who smoke marijuana.
It doesn't make sense that you would have less MOS job opportunities from telling your recruiter or seargent that you smoked weed before, that is what the ASVAB is for.
Well I am thinking of joining the marines. I am not nervous or scared at all but I was wondering what are some things that i could do now to help me in the future?
I contemplated enlisting in the army for infantry my whole senior year but didn't quite do it out of being nervous. I started college and can tell it's not for me. I've started thinking military again but I'm still uncertain. Do you think I should go for it? Most of my family and friends say they think i'd thrive in that atmosphere.
Military P.T. has fallen off with standards that are a joke since I served back in the 80s. 82nd Airborne 504th Infantry Devils in Baggy Pants! 11 Bravo Charlie Two PAPA!
Lars Van Den Broek you can. But the military doesn't see it that way. I'm an Airborne Infantry vet. I smoked weed every day in hs. I even had to take a couple piss test before i left for meps. But my recruiter was cool as fuck.
Lars Van Den Broek You can't smoke weed and join for the same reason you can't use tobacco in the military, drugs make you dependent on them while hurting you. The military is looking for capable people, not junkies.
Prior drug history isn't as demonized by the military as people think. You can even have prior drug charges and still get in as long as it wasn't a felony and most importantly frowned upon are violent crimes. Violent crimes are a no go no matter what for obvious reasons. As far as drugs there are waivers and your background check will be more scrutinized and even include a visit and interview with a special investigator who will basically determine whether this past history could be used against you for blackmail ect. What I'm getting at is it doesn't hurt to try and it's taken on a case by case basis. Be honest and you might be as surprised as I was when I was still able to enlist and have the opportunity to try to get things turned around and right with my life. They told me the military is about 2nd chances and maybe that was a line of bullshit to get me the rest of the way through the door lol but I'd like to think it's true. Try it's all you can do it worked out for me maybe it wouldn't for some like I said it's a case by case basis and though I wasn't Pablo Escobar I wasn't a choir boy either with my record. As a gauge for others I had a possession of weed and paraphernalia charge from several years prior to joining. If you do get accepted under a waiver don't piss it away it's not worth it go to school and use it to better your life it'll take you to some cool places and you'll do some things you never thought possible of yourself.
been seeing this video in my recommendation, I was to nervous to watch it thinking "ohh fuck, thats gonna be me" but after watching, now I know I ain't gotta worry about that. I hate weed.
So, by weeding out the people who tell the truth, you are essentially guaranteeing the more dishonest recruits make it into the service. Is that the goal? They should reward the troops that stoop up with a chance to try again. Instant disqualification for being honest sounds a lot like incentive to lie for the others, I'm sure.
thanks for the tips.. I been training before I try for the USMC... just one question; do they care how many push ups you can do along with other exercises?
Nope. Push ups are daily routine and positive punishment. For tests in the Corps is as many sit ups in 2 mins. Pull ups without dropping from bar in same time frame. And 3 mile run.
Important question. I've already told my recruiter and doctors at meps that I've smoked and all is good. When I go to basic and the recruiter does the moment of truth do I just stay seated?
Your right they want you to pass just because you can’t climb a rope or swim good don’t mean your fucked. Not everyone is gonna be strong enough to complete everything if they wanted to get the best of the best they’d be hiring body builders.
My son got a hernia just like I did and they fixed it for him just like they did me. He also got his blood stripe in just over 2 years, and he thought that he was going to be a terminal lance ( like me).---------------------I'm one proud dad!
I'm from California and I'm also a medical patient for weed and still to this day I smoke weed. I want to join the military. since weed is legal in California I'm I still eligible to join the military?
So lers say u told them u have smoked weed to ur recruiter...and then u r put on that spot if you smoked weed or whatever and u said yes...will you get in trouble even if u told them already and u clean?
Question If I failed the background investigation for a law enforcement agency, will the military automatically have acces to the PHS and related materials? The Dept didn't inform me of the reason.
xAngelxxxOfxxxDeathx maybe i got to choose the job i wanted at meps. Just ask no point in wondering. Also if its been a year since you smoked then just make sure you meet weight or tape out
I went into the Corps in '68 and nobody bothered to ask. War on and Corps up to 300,000 men. Got Top Secret Clearance a year in...again, nobody asked...though two investigators went around to my references including my High School Cross Country coach. Home on leave and he said... "Ah, don't worry lad... I told 'em how you used to giggle in the showers..." Uh...thanks Coach... :#( YP
Basically, yes. tbh the US military and any military or any organization relies on a baseline of corruption. "If you don't cheat, you're not trying and if you get caught, you're trying to hard." and so on.
What also gets you kicked out super quick, is if you're a crier. I'm not talking about that EGA ceremony, where some limited emotion is allowed. I'm referring to the occasional marine recruit who breaks down emotionally, and either gets homesick or can't take the stress anymore. I've seen both happen, and these dudes were just taken away and gone as if they never existed. I also had the displeasure of witnessing a fellow recruit in 2nd phase, have a nervous/mental breakdown in the squad bay. He just started screaming & dropped down and flailed about like being possessed by a demon. It took 3 DIs to hold him down, before the MPs & ambulance arrived... Just keep your marbles intact, and you'll make it!
When I went through the Hart Hat DI came the second night in Receiving Barracks and acted real nice, let us ask questions while sitting on the deck. He also asked for a show of hands for who was home sick, etc. Those guys were gone by Training Day 9
@@andrewvalentino1120 That sucks man but better there and we get you out than you go to Afghanistan and do the same thing but now there is a guy shot and the person who is supposed to help is having a panic attack. It what it is, good luck out there
Chris J me to my recruiter said when I told him that he was like " RIGHT good say you never smoked that's good" I was like nah really I never smoked weed again he was like "RIGHT" hahahaha Man
i told my recruiter I had smoked weed and he said as long as I wasn't still doing it I could sign up, and even then they tried to recruit me pretty heavily.
Wait 6 months from your last consommation. Everyone had been a child influencing once. You must to never take drug... again. But the best drugs are the environment adrenaline(danger zone), muscles/cardio challenges and also a bit of studying in subject you like to watch. Must of children(teenagers) can not find a stimulating environment(free space with funny/safe risks). They dont feel accepted in sports or not playing but only bullying others or being bullying and finally mentally nothing attract their brain/mind. They can not find any personal passion. So the drugs are giving them adrenaline, feel accepted by a special group and passion from drugs effects/addiction. You can be the best of yourself and got pay for it. But you must control your mind now. **You can not control the armies but only yourself. This is also true everywhere else. I'm glad you take this personaly!
M Krump I was actually being serious. My buddy was asked how many times he smoked weed and took a second to answer so they said I warn you now, you can only have smoked weed 9 times. So my friend said well what would you know I've smoked weed exactly 9 times.
Charnt Sabre ... It confirms what the video says! Your friend told something to the recruiter and the instructor ask him the same question ((months later)) and received the same answer from the recruit. Tell the true. But it's not a particular number that counts it's your statement to the recruiter must be valided in training phase of the course which they call the moment of true. I mean the number does not count but it is if you are lying or not.
I wasn't impressed by Basic (army 1990). I wasn't homesick because my home life was crap. And the PT was cake because it was easier than the average wrestling practice by a mile. And a DS yelling at you when you know he can't even hit you is a LOT less stressful than an alcoholic dad doing it. No shame on people who found it hard, but I didn't. The only hard thing about the whole 8 weeks was staying awake.
Your experience with bc is a simular to my experience. My youth was hell, at 21 I started driving truck otr, did that for 2.5 yrs. then in 1994 decided to join usmc 0311, was 24 boot camp was a breeze. Use to being beaten verbally. I remember younger18, 19 20yr old guys early on crying in their racks ... me at 24. I was home.
Can't join law enforcement if you have an arrest for marijuana, can't join the military...How do the courts expect you to contribute back to society? By being broke and a bum? The system is all sorts of messed up.
Man Falls It's called a revolving door, that's why alot of criminals go back to prison instead of shaping up. They'd rather break the law then have no money
your video is not bad but it is confusing and i believe contradicting. because you said that you do not want to admit to something like smoking weed at the moment of truth but then you want to be honest and tell the truth. I really think you should clearify this.
thank you first off for the reply and secondly for willing to clearify the topic. i will subscribe to you and turn on the notifications because i am interested in this topic.
i felt it was fine it was obvious he said stay sitted in boot camp but be honest with your recruiter before boot camp cause being honest after going to boot camp will cause more harm than good
"The Moment of Truth".......absolutely goddam right! Wow! You are spot-on, young man! I went thru MCRD San Diego in 1982 and YES! we lost a shit load of privates that day! Semper Fi and thanks for sharing.
My #1 tip for not failing boot camp/basic/ect: Speak up if you're injured! I spent an entire year in Army Infantry basic because I injured my right foot and didn't say anything. Instead of speaking up when I realized I hurt myself, I did what I thought would be the 'tough' thing and pushed through what would end up being an enormous amount of pain. Once I realized my right foot was fucked I began favoring the left foot. I did this for about 4 weeks. This ended up with me having multiple broken bones in both feet and two fractured heels. My drill sergeant spotted my swollen ass feet as I was walking to the shower one night and flipped shit on me. I then got the gift of two walking casts and being put on a severely limited training profile and was told that there was no way I would graduate that cycle due to my injuries. I then spent the rest of that cycle as opfor/ammo detail. I went on to about 8 months of physical therapy and graduated a year after I started. So, moral of the story is: speak up if you truly think you're injured. A couple days/weeks on a medical profile or even a recycle is far better than really fucking yourself up and prolonging what should have been a small injury. And yes, I did go on to serve for 7 years as an infantryman and had only a few more foot problems. I still get the "Holy fuck, you spent a YEAR in basic?" comments. If I can do it for a year, anyone can do it for 14 weeks.
DaGreatWatahMelone Also, if you have a combat arms job in the Marine Corps or Army you will probably look back on basic/bootcamp as kind of a joke. All of the truly hard shit comes after basic. Nothing I went through in basic compared to things I did on deployment or in preparation for. If you can look back at your career and say that basic/boot was the hardest part, then you had a very easy career.
ok guys, they wont kick you out if you smoked weed. they will kick you out if you have a fraudulent enlistment. so, tell your recruiter everything. simple as that.
@Matheus Rosa I don't take any type of Prescription or ever smoked or did any sort of drug..No Injuries Alhamdulillah. No Criminal records..I am all about healthy herbals lol...Chew garlic, spoon of pure honey every morning, chia seeds, Tamarind juice that I make myself, Flex seeds etc....I think I am good to go
So this bring me to a question I need answering to. My recruiter keeps pushing me to lie about my asthma. What should I do? I know there are consequences for lying and all but my asthma isn't that bad honestly, had it when I was a kid but I'm probably gonna go to my doctor to get it rechecked to see if I grew out of it. I honestly just need some advice my recruiter even got pissed and threatened me for not going to meps because I told him if I was going to join I was going to tell the truth about my medical history. I asked him about waivers but he keeps saying I should just lie, he won't even try to help me get a waiver. Everytime I ask him he pushses away from it. He asked me why I'm scared to lie I said because fraudulent enlistment and he said replied with some bs like it's not real, its fake, never happens etc..
@@JannahismyGoal Anytime you lie and enlist under false pretense. Just be honest in your recruiters office. Sometimes if you've done something there are waiver available, but if you lie and they find out later, for instance if you need a security clearance later on, then yes during your background check and interviews they can and do find people that have lied and once that happens you are proper screwed.
Yes the moment of truth is real and a lot of people fold up. The military isn't going to look into into your past. I partied like a rockstar in high school and went through my four years enlisted without any issues. I was even promoted to Sgt at the beginning of my third year.
You mentioned that you knew someone who was sent home because of a hernia. From experience they won't send you home if you want to stay. agree to either be recycled or continue training. DS's are people too and can be reasoned with behind closed doors. If you exemplify "Never accept defeat" mentality then they'll 9/10 go to bat for you.
^^Yes! Great point. The dude I mentioned was told it'd be a few months before they could correct his hernia. He decided that being on the island for 2-3 more months wasn't worth it, so he bailed. Can't blame him though
ClaytonFilpo no I can't haha. For me though I sold all my shit and joined so I needed that free surgery. Oddly enough I was at NTC 3 yrs later I stumbled upon a newly promoted chief she recognized me first and said "how's the hernia?" lol I was so confused til I realized who it was. She's out now but we stay in touch. Small fucking world though.
True, I had a stress fracture and couldn't run. Told my DS and he let slip out on a 5 mile run. He knew I wasn't bull shitin and needed his help. Thanks DS Suarez!
Both of my son's both enlisted right out of high school and we were talking about this. There are four years apart in age and I was not worried about the youngest as much as I was my oldest. I explained to him that if he stand up and confesses to something he doesn't have to worry about me he needs to worry about being charged for lying on government forms. They both told me stories about the people who stood up during that time to never be seen again.
Yup and you never know what their life ends up being, to this day I always wonder what life would have turned out to be like if I stood up and snitched on myself, it's a crazy thought I think about from time to time. Glad I didn't and ended up deploying as a Marine, still crazy that one simple moment can steal that away/
I'm army, did 19K M1 Armor OSUT at Harmony Church Fort Benning. I was of those unlucky few to spend 16 months instead of 15 weeks, all because of injuries. There were times I wanted to quit but I didn't, how I kept with it was all because of the drills I had, one in particular who fought for me to stay in and motivated me to keep going. It's all mental really, the ability to keep going with it. All you gotta do is keep the goal of becoming a soldier or marine vice gripped to your heart. When you want to quit, you need to think about what life will be on the outside, yeah your parents will be happy to see you but they're gonna get tired of you being around plus you need to boost your ass in finding a job. Good thing for me is I overcame my injuries and was able to pass basic. The moral of this is if keep chasing that dream or goal and not give up...you'll get through it. Honestly there should be no reason for anybody to quit because it's not that hard, I can't say anything about usmc boot camp but for army it's only hard if you make it hard
bentheconservative you've watched to much marihuana propaganda. Marijuana is not completely safe but it was nowhere near as dangerous as alcohol. About 30,000 people a year die from alcohol, 0 ever died from marijuana ever. Alcohol is physically addictive marijuana is not. Alcohol negatively affects your coordination and motor skills, marijuana does not. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions makes you more likely to make bad decisions, marijuana does the opposite as it's very introspective. The say the two are just as dangerous as indicative of severe, willful ignorance
***** there can be some dangerous effects from marijuana, but they are far and few between, and nothing when compared to alcohol. For example people with a certain genetic marker are more susceptible to schizophrenia after smoking marijuana. Of course, that is a very rare occurrence. Data also suggest that exposure to marijuana before your prefrontal cortex has completely developed can inhibit the development of your brain and cognitive abilities such as memory. Its obviously no where near as dangerous as alcohol though
when I enlisted in 2002 for the Canadian Forces they asked I said yes when I was younger they said don't do it again and a few months later I was shipped to basic lol
My friend joined the marines and is back from boot camp, and he still posts pics of himself smoking weed lmao. Its all a scare tactic guys, they could honestly give a fuck if you smoked weed.
He might had to follow medical tests and they will find out if he's just posting cool(17 years old badass) or been under drugs influences. I have no clue of what marines do with these guys... One sure thing is they will always fine a nice story to tell.
M Krump he's 18 and he smokes, a lot, I can vouch for that since I smoked with him a lot, so either the marines really don't give a fuck or he's making someone piss for him lmao
Military service used to be mandatory in my country, but they canceled that when I was in college. Playing soldier for 6 months might have been fun. (I'm Eastern European, our communist leaders made it mandatory during the Cold War.)
I failed the moment of truth because I got scared. Now I live with that shame and guilt everyday. Believe it or not, my recruiter never told us about it. Thank you for making this for the next generation of future marines, they need it.
Tell them you smoke weed, and then confess to lying to your drill instructor (because smoking weed was a lie). They will get a good laugh out of it, and furthermore, will appreciate your honesty and ability to lighten the mood in a stressful situation ! If they misinterprit what you said just say "it's just a prank bro" and they'll likely be good sports about it :)
I have a few videos that sort of hit on it. Basically, just bring your small address book, maybe a few stamps, and your wallet and whatnot. Your recruiter will remind you of all this over and over, not to worry! good question
