I believe that the Orion is an SKB. I have an Ithaca/SKB and a Turkey made target SKB. Both are very reliable.

Once again, an excellent introductory presentation of the mechanics of the over and under shotgun. Keep up the great work. Btw, I did pick up the CZ drake in 12ga, along with the Stevens 301 in 20ga. Thank you for all your help.

When Miroku took over the Superposed for Browning, in end-70s and early 80s, they produced an O/U for a few years that was not known as a Citori. Those guns were made in the fashion of Belgian Fabrique Nationale, with lots of manual labor. With the Citori, a lot more of machined work was introduced, and the individual touch was diminished by the industrial process. This is why the Superposed classes of O/U (Midas, Diana, etc) are today seen as a better class of shotgun than the Citori. However, those O/U that were made in the initial years of the Miroku takeover are very good shotguns, in the Fabrique Nationale tradition. Miroku wanted to prove beyond doubt that they could do as well as Fabrique Nationale as artisans of top-range guns. But the problem of price of labor that affected FN soon reached Miroku. The introduction of Citori addressed the problem of labor price by increasing industrial machinerie processes. Those guns produced by Miroku soon after having taken FN's Browning contract are a batch of great quality. They rival FN's best. They are not Citori Browning. They are Miroku-Brownings. Look them up.

@Me. Me I had 12x12 with a rifle shotgun combo second set. My brother still has a 12x12, the sliding breech is a beauty to watch in action....pun intended. Let's see if I can post a pic of the breech on a message later today. They are great guns no question.

If you check out an English RU-vid , TGS , they are showing a 1970’s Miroku ORE that has shot over 5 million rounds . These are fantastic guns .

The 577 snider round he mentioned is much bigger than a 22LR. Looking to fire one at a range next week!!

Note: The safety also acts as the barrel selector, O (Over) or U (Under). Moving the selector to the unfired barrel cocks the hammer and allows immediate firing.

Thanks Jean : ) The Citori owners that write me seem to be wing shooters hoping for two shots for birds on the fly. Very good to know if there is time to make the switch and still get the second shot off on a bird. Anyway, the first shot usually works these days - shells are so reliable.

@Art Anson Prior to the "Velvet Revolution" when Czech Republic and Slovakia split, many guns in Czechoslovakia were named after the city the factory or "armory"(zbrojovka) was located. Some were named after the inventor., Such as "Holek". The Holek Brothers were, basically, the "John Browning" of Czechoslovakia. Any gun you see with the "ZH" model designation is one of theirs. Vaclav Holek designed the ZB/ZH 26, which, when made at the factory in Enfield was better known as the "Bren" gun. This is how we get such "brand" names as "Praga" (Prague), "Brno", and "Opava". More recently, they have been more or less consolidated under the Ceska Zbrojovka name (CZ). Brno is now part of CZ. I do not know if guns are still being made under the "Opava" name. I do not think they were ever imported to the USA. Possibly some were prior to WW2. The only ones I have seen were "bring backs" from US servicemen or visitors. The one I have was made after WW2, probably in the 1950s. Opava is in Northeast Czech Republic on the Opava River and the border with Poland. I was in law enforcement for 37 years and 19 years as a US Federal Agent. I was assigned to work in eastern Europe for two assignments, a total of 7 years. My main office was in Warsaw, most of my work was in Poland, Ukraine and also Czech Republic and Slovakia. When I had holidays I loved to travel around Europe, and CZ Republic was my favorite! Czech Republic has some of the most lenient gun laws in Europe, they issue concealed carry permits to virtually any law abiding citizen on a "shall issue" basis. Shooting and hunting are popular sports. Oddly enough, the 16 ga. is the most common shotgun gauge. 12 ga is probably 2nd. Many of the better stocked gun dealers have import contacts in the USA and will ship firearms for you to an importer (an FFL with a class 8 license). They welcome US citizen tourists! They will then send it to your chosen local dealer. Yes, there are some fees, but the prices at that time were so low that even after paying import duty and fees the price was far below what those guns would sell for in the USA.

@vettelover2009 I just purchased a CZ 527 over the Ruger American in 7.62 x 39 because it is just so much nicer all steel everything worth the extra to me all day so I appreciate your comment will look into the CZ line I do not like aluminum on guns it is ok for trigger guards but prefer steel to any alloy I am old school that way.

Hi Mike - I asked the Remington dealer and the 3200 was made at the Remington factory in the US. These are fantastic shotguns and had to be discontinued quickly to make room for inferior products. I'll make a video : )

Remington sold the rights to remington 32, krieghoff then improved it and it became a krieghoff design

@@darthmusturd9526 Easier? It seems to me that the mechanical advantage of levering load/eject with the loop-lever system is near perfect for repeating arms. Have you had trouble manipulating a break action ANYTHING with the small release catch?

Hi Isaac - the barrel profile and length is the main difference. The FW has a sharp drop off right in front of the receiver to a slimmer barrel contour - reducing weight; and the stock design in the modern models is lighter for the FW as well.

They say our strongest sense is smell. When I was a kid I lived by the ocean - and then I was away from it for many years - and then I returned. I can't express how meaningful the smell of the ocean was on that return. Burning powder is like that. : )

The inertia system itself is great design, if first shell fails to fire you can engage secind barrel by simply safety back switch barrel and forward. Any good shot can do that action half a second easily

Sure, but that is drawback of any semi-automatic or automatic weapon as well. Yet revolvers are now history for law enforcers and soldiers. And de-facto single action pistols have become very common design partly based also on reasoning that if round fails the 2nd attempt by trigger-pull is not likely to work. How often modern ammunition fails to fire. So yes, that flaw is there but in real world most likely not important. Otherwise semiautomatic shotguns could not be popular at all as they share this trait

@@mungo7136 I've never had a semiauto shotgun but I get the idea that their main appeal is recoil reduction, more so than the ability to get rapid followup shots.

@@R32R38 Depending on country when used for hunting they advertise capacity (here comes country - somewhere it is limited for hunting purposes i.e. 2-3 rounds max.) and also shooting speed. I am quite interested whether the recoil is significantly reduced in case of semiauto shotguns. Anyway - of course when someone want absolute reliability than 2 singles merged into double SxS or O/U shotguns with separate locks and maybe even triggers is way to go. But as I said before - from more general point of view, people (I mean shooters, shooters-journalists) claim that reliability of the weapons is already for years not depended on reliability of the modern ammunition. So far I have not seen something denying it - that ammunition made by reloading or by respected factories has significant failure rate. Maybe somebody knows which system Olympic shooters use - whether mechanical or recoil operated trigger switch. Because for some types, failure to be able to fire the 2nd shot can mean loose of the podium. Thus reliability is very important.

Yes - I had this happen with O/U and break open shotguns. Take off the forend - and with the wood forend off - move the thumb lever to the right - and try to tip the barrels off - if they don't fall off into your hand - keep holding the lever heavily to the right and tap the end of the barrel with a piece of wood or rubber mallet. Don't dent the barrels or the ventilated rib. If the barrels still don't fall off spray any release oil or WD40 into the front of the action - which will be open because the wood forend will be off. That should loosen the lock. If no luck - write me again. Best of luck!

I tried your advice it seemed to loosen up slightly but still a no go. I added more oil in hopes to try it again later on today. Other wise the firearm looks to be in amazing shape not sure of the age

The extreme goal is no civil guns, no civil shooting, no civil defense, no hunting; people just be quiet, easily to be ruled. Anyone got ruling power, always want to keep ruling power at all. Many people are depressed about buying & owning civil guns, they said it’s stricter than some communism countries. Moreover, there’re cameras in streets here & there, many people very like to use mobile phone or car camera or any kinds of cameras to take pictures of others, put those pictures to network or police stations; they don’t care about privacy; NO PRIVACY, ( BE CAREFULLY) ; also government encourages people to take pictures & lay bare something illegal and grant bonus, so there’re many people don’t do anything, they do laying bare something to be job, they got bonus may be more than normal wages than others. It’s a very strange thing in Taiwan 🇹🇼. Anyone who comes to Taiwan 🇹🇼, must be carefully, many “eyes” are looking at you, many “ears” are standing by; many Taiwan’s people are very like to detect others & lay bare others’ private things or secret. In Taiwan🇹🇼, around half century ago, the old government settled very strict restrictions on guns, cartridges & knife, might be the strictest restricted in the world. The old government official said don’t touch knives & guns, just singing, singing is good; so many KTV those singing places were opened, those places might include something sexual; but unfortunately, some people got there to sing & drink, or did something sexual, they were drunk or conflicted with others, or due to women then got fighting; so many accidents happened, including killing or something illegal. Now, the new government still prohibited guns, cartridges, knives & hunting as same way, but promoting sightseeing & delicious foods, thus Taiwan’s🇹🇼 people are easily to get foods and eating too much, many people got fatter & illness; some people are very fat, others would tease them and call them “fat pigs”.
