I'm gonna have to disagree with that. Sakura at the start of the show was hated with a passion by fans. Because she was seen as a crybaby fangirl who didn't really do anything for the team and was more often then not seen as dead weight. In addition she was an asshole to Naruto at first too, which soured people's opinions of her. The change in opinion towards her happened when she cut her hair and seemed to have a genuine desire to change for the better. Of course, Kishimoto dropped the ball with her, and I'd argue every character outside Naruto, Sasuke, and MAYBE Kakashi and Shikamaru, but fans didn't know that at first. In any case I think the reason she kept her popularity for so long was more a testament to Naruto and it's popularity and her being the main female character rather than Sakura herself actually being considered 'waifu' material by most people.

@@astyutechick7980 Alright since you asked for what’s different in the Manga let’s start with OG. In the Zabuza Arc Sakura saved Naruto from a Shuriken. In the Anime however they removed that Scene and made Naruto save himself. In the Manga, when Sakura “made fun of Naruto for being an orphan”, Sakura didn’t even mention that he has no parents, just that he doesn’t behave. It was Sasuke who told her he has none. Then , after Sasuke talked to sakura and left, Sakura, with a gentle smile, told herself to be nicer to Naruto she even blushed slightly. In the Anime however, Sakura didn’t have a gentle smile but looked rather pissed and basically forced herself to say she will be nicer to Naruto. The whole punching Naruto thing also isn’t in the Manga as there, she punched him around 12 times in total and that was when he was being a perv. 12 times in 700+ Chapters is nothing. The several SasuSaku scenes that got changed. Sasuke blushed so many times around Sakura, that all got removed from the Anime tho. When Sasuke wanted to kill Yamato, Sakura was just standing there in the Anime while in the Manga she wasn’t there. When Neji got injured and Naruto called for a Medic, they showed Sakura in the Anime even tho Sakura WASNT there in the Manga. Now, you say she had no moments? I tell you she had several. In the Chunin Exams she protected the two unconscious Naruto and Sasuke with her LIFE from the Sound Ninjas. That is the same thing Hinata did when fighting Pain yet everyone praises her but makes fun of Sakura. Sakura in the Chunin Exams was the only one who could get all the answers right without having to cheat. As pointed out she saved Naruto from the Shuriken. In that very same arc she gave a little kid food because it had none. Her courage to train with Tsunade is very important as well because Tsunade and her trained EXTREMELY hard. It’s said that Tsunade would train with her until her bones would break, then just heal them and then they’d continue to train. Sakura is extremely hardworking. In the Pain Arc, Sakura is often called useless when actually she was running the whole hospital by herself at only 16. As u pointed out her fight with sasori was amazing but there’s another thing that is sasori related: Her making an antidote against Sasoris poison, which took him years to make, in just a few hours. She literally saved Kankuros life because of that. In the War Arc, Sakura got her Byakugou at the age of just 17 and surpassed Tsunade. Sakura was able to summon Katsuyu which takes HELLA lot of Chakra. Without Sakura, they couldn’t have gotten Sasuke back from the other dimension. If Sakura hadn’t punched Kaguya, she wouldn’t have been distracted and Naruto’s and sasukes attack wouldn’t have worked. These aren’t even all moments just of what I could think of rn. People are forgetting that Sakura comes from no Clan and wasn’t born with any special abilities. Everything she earned, she earned with hard work. I’d like to point out that the novels probably have the best moments so I recommend them

Kishimoto’s intention with her was to make her realistic. She went from a boy crazy brat to a mature strong woman. She’s developed. She was ready to kill Sasuke after all. Furthermore, her goal never was to be with sasuke but to get strong and fight alongside her Team. I think it would’ve been better if she had ended up with Naruto but this us just because of Kishimoto’s sexist views. He said that if Sakura’s feelings for Sasuke would change it would’ve made her a terrible woman, explains why the woman in Naruto genuinely are terribly written. But all in all the Sakura hate isn’t justified because the reasons are just dumb and easily debunkable

She was also written wayyy better than 90% of women I've seen in shonen, she has her own goals too.. at the start. Oh i should mention I'm currently watching sao.. about halfway there so my points are limited upto that point. Anyway... The thing she's missing however.. completely missing is.. an "agency" which is simply a form of independency. I'll give you an example ig... Bishamonten from Noragami (manga) .. incredibly strong, like Asuna. What makes Bisha a great character tho? Her art of decision making, her having her own goals, her being super consistent throughout, her compassion not being annoying but beautiful. she was given complete "agency" as opposed to Asuna. After their marriage i can't help but feel... There has been zero development in her as a character. Again not surprising.. this is the case with 99% of the women .. their existence and charms fade away slowly.. this is my reason for hating her as a "character"

@@aynain1810 she had plenty of agency in Aincrad and she got strong due to her own flaws. Initially she was cold, but wanted to save everyone from Aincrad just as much as Kirito did. She went from isolation to compassionate due to the amount of time Kirito and Asuna spent solving the mystery and fighting on the frontlines until they established an unbreakable bond. You’ll see more agency from Asuna in the later seasons too, especially Alicization

Well, for me it's one of those shows that got hyped over and over again only to be slightly above average at the end. So even if it's a good anime, it's not even close to the amount of hype and was underwhelming at the end.
