theyre good. not the easiest to slide around. but were sim racers - closest thing to a masochist. Will do another 30 laps of suzuka east before i just admit i cannot drive XD
@@teknastyk The other night I was doing some actual racing and after getting pitted the 5th race in a row I thought "why do I do this to myself?" Definitely on to something with the masochism.
@@JankyDrift well, the idea comes from an local now old gamer magazine, but i can definitely relate. I mean even if you tried finishing acc career mode in short mode a 3hrs race vs ai is nothing short but self torture
That's a question for the Assetto community. This list is an aggregate of what I've seen mentioned on Facebook and Reddit when people ask for the best or most realistic car packs. I dont think they're realistic, but you absolutely can learn fundamentals from driving them.
The channel goal is to be a throwback to a more simple time when you didn't have to sit through a minute of sponsor BS and 10 minutes of fluff for people to max their ad revenue.
I find the wdts is the most fun to whip around but the n-style pack/aidens cars have amazing sounds and drive pretty nice also. 1 thing is I'm pretty sure tando buddies was made for controller players or just people who want to tandem really easily, the physics are similar to a car you'd find in a mobile game; very not good.
Was reading something the other day saying Tando was made by real-life drifters who were trying to make the transition to sim. Definitely more arcade-ish though.
When I'm running some lower horsepower tracks, I love the Gravy Garage pack. But when I join a big tandem server where we're running FD layouts, Vdc is my go-to. Great video man. It took me a long time to enjoy the low horsepower car packs mainly because the car i learned to drift on Assetto Corsa was 1100hp, so I kinda developed that mindset of "it has to be high horsepower or I cant drive it". Really glad I got away from that, sometimes simple seat-time is better than hold on for dear life and be prepared to lose it at any second lmao
On the flip side I can't drive comp cars if my life depended on it. But I figure probably never going to own one in real life so I try to stick with lower HP for that reason.
I might be wrong because I have so many mod packs by now but I think I've just been drifting the VDC Chaser all day yesterday. I don't drift in real life - I don't even drive in real life - so my judgement on which packs are most realistic probably isn't vey accurate. But I can judge which car packs are most difficult, and they are definitely the grippier high power cars. The really snappy ones. And VDC's cars are pretty snappy. You have to be really responsive with your steering input when transitioning and when holding a drift, but when you're not even steering anymore on Tsuchisaka, just letting the back end flick out and catching it with the throttle time after time, it's thrilling. On a side note, I've still not found a single Toyota Chaser drift car that I haven't enjoyed. Something about that car's proportions seems to make it a joy to handle.
I didn't expect Gravy Garage to be on the list, I think they are too easy to handle? Or maybe I can do pretty good in real life If I can drive Gravy Garage well?
I feel like that's true with a lot of packs. Unless youve got a ton of torque you really need to be carrying a bunch of speed/momentum in 3rd to not have the car fall on its face. Not too many tracks where I hit 3rd at the moment.
I feel its best to not stick to one pack or one car drive all the packs and the individual drift cars that the modders make, It all depends on the tires and the map, You can change tires in ac so try different combinations, And most of all there's so many more drift car's in ac like i literally have downloaded well over 10k car's, Enjoy and have fun main thing 👍💯
As one of the creators of the Tando buddies I will tell you a fun story. They were made at the time when only SDC and DTP cars were your options. the DTP missile came out and felt the best so we used that as a base and made private cars for our private group of friends ALL real drifters and currently now some Even Pro drivers. We made them the same minus wheel base to level the playing field for our private fun comps, and at the time they felt the best with our crappy rigs like old Logitechs etc. Of course slowly people gave them out and eventually it was pointless to keep them private. not soon after we added better tires "tovey tires" and added some boost but never updated the pack because the Sim drifting community is literally 90% know it all children and we got bad tastes in our mouths and said FK em. funny thing is they still hold up today with the mods but there is definitely better feeling packs!!. Also just going to throw in my two cents, You cannot rank something that is based off of the human brains perception. It is impossible!! and WAY to many variables with gear/setup etc. but the most important is the brain!!! you could get in my rig and drive a car I perceive feels exsactly like my real drift car, then go really drive my drift car and it could feel NOTHING like my sim setup to you. This needs to be more understood as it's giving those "bad habits"
It's funny I've had a few mod creators comment on this video now, it's always interesting to hear the context. When I originally put this video together I was trying to be more sensitive to folks who might like Tando and similar packs. So the message wasn't "they suck" or anything along those lines, just that they're not entirely realistic and there are better packs if you're looking for realism. And I think that's fair to say for Tando especially with all the packs that have come out in recent years. To your point, some folks get overly-passionate about this and as a result there have been a few comments I've had to delete.. Like with anything else in life this comparison is more shades of gray instead of black and white, but some folks don't entirely grasp that concept lol. You can learn real life driving skills from pretty much all cars packs out there, some better than others.
@JankyDrift oh believe me I've seen the passion lol it really turned us off as a whole when we were modding like crazy the funny thing is if the community wasn't so negative we probably would of kept modding and gave out and made more realistic mods. I think about that from time to time what we would of ended up making. currently I still make tracks for the fun of it and mainly for myself and group of friends. But I'm definitely an advocate for pushing the understanding of how different everything is for sim drifting. I have several IRL drivers that will say a tando car drives exsactly how their car really does and its wild to me as I think they are super ice skates now but if they perceive it that way then technically that's their best option for practice. personally I have never found any mod to feel real yet, but I'm looking for something we won't have for awhile if at all with this old outdated game engine all the mods just slide all the time like none of them drive like real cars where you could just grip race them as well. part of me wants to start messing around again but another part of me wants to try other game engines that are not SO old and based on old physics engines lolol keep shredding duder, also just a FYI when I type I loose all emotion and can read blunt and negative that is not my intention!! just wanted to tell you the story as you seem like someone that would be entertained by it and understand.
Totally forgot to respond to this... Yeah I'd love to see the next generation engine and what people can do with that. Sounds like Assetto Corsa 2 might be coming 2024-ish. None the less, appreciate you sharing.
@@SMILEdeathNETWORK The AC community is why I stopped playing the game for years. The general attitude of know-it-all sim idiots that have never driven any real car turned me off the community as a whole. I can't believe these people will argue with real world champion drivers about how realistic iRacing is. Then you get the rabid AC fanboys back in the day attacking anyone claiming AC isn't perfection with it's constant tire model revisions, and now everyone agrees it's not that good.
I find the Tsujigiri packs, DWG and WDTS cars are all I use now. GG feel no different from the ADC cars to me, not a fan of the car feeling like it drives itself. Great video and nice to hear your take on it!
@@pauliusdrusys9866 99% of us drifting will never drive a proper dialed in drift car. most people just take what they drive on the street to the skidpad/track, so the most realistic cars are the ones with the lowest power and least modifications. like you cant just practice with 1100hp vdc cars and expect that to transfer over to your g35 with an intake irl
This is a pretty good list, although I would personally change a few things and add a few different packs. I'm glad to see DWG getting some love. I agree about putting DWG at the top, but it's a bit car-specific. The newer DWG cars like the S13s are absolutely fantastic, but some of their older cars are quite bad. Tando buddies, on the other hand, is the absolute worst drift pack I've ever used. I wouldn't even put it on this list lol. *My list would look like this:* 1) DWG (Just as good as Excite, but with slightly different handling characteristics) 2) Excite (Very flickable and realistic imo, but I wish they were a bit more planted at times) 3) Gravy Garage (Good physics, but they feel a bit floaty and arcadey. Also have too much steering lock) 4) WDTS (Way too forgiving and uninvolving, but great for beginners. Very consistent physics, which makes them great for tandems) 5) Drift Workshop (One of my old personal favorites. I feel bad putting it in 5th place, as the physics are really good, but they are old cars now) 6) Fumi (Great handling cars, but they have way too much steering lock and the physics can be funky) *Honorable mention:* Aiden's S13 (Absolutely fantastic car. The physics are almost up there with DWG, but it's not part of a pack) *As for packs I don't recommend:* DTP (horrible cars. these were the tando buddies cars of 2017/2018 lol, although tando buddies is still somehow worse) Tando Buddies (🤢) Arch cars (broken since CSP 1.74) VDC Some of the old DWG cars Tsujigiri (Mainly because of the understeering characteristics you mentioned. They are a lot like Tando in that sense, and it's quite unenjoyable for me) Edit - I should mention that I drift with a direct drive wheelbase, so I can really feel the differences in physics and handling (especially Tando 🤢 lol)
Your list is a lot more comprehensive than mine lol. As far as packs I chose, I basically searched for the "most realistic" or "best" car packs on Facebook/Reddit and these seemed to be the most frequently mentioned. Definitely saw excite and a few others but they seemed to be more fringe recommendations. I'll have to give some of those a shot. If I'm honest I primarily drift that DWG 350z as it's been a great tool to learning my actual drift car. Wish there were more active DWG lobbies as I've recently been focusing more on practicing tandem, and WDTS/Gravy seem to be the forced choice since they're the easiest to find populated servers. Funny you mention Gravy Steering angle, I said that in the initial edit of the video but couldn't tell if it was just a visual thing (the front wheels look like they're hitting 90 degrees) so I cut from the final. And yes Tando is garbage to me but people like them and I was trying to be nice lol. Appreciate the detailed reply!
@@JankyDrift Yeah definitely worth giving excite a shot, they are really good. Drift workshop is nice as well, and they have less steering angle so are more of a challenge
arch cars are fixed in 1.80 extended physics were actually broken in drift conditions since 1.74, not the arch cars themselves. they are the only ones actually using the extended physics afaik
I never really drifted my 350z when I had it but I literally thought the same thing about the DWG Z. The steering felt almost identical to my real life Z. Probably the car I drive the best on this game.
Baker Workshop Raijin S15, paid mod, but this is by far my all time favourite car to drift with after nearly 4 years of sim drifting, feels amazing on my Simucube 2 and the grip level and transition speed translates good to my irl S13. Most realistic, and best drift car/pack is all subjective preference though, and no matter how good a car will feel to you and your setup, there will always be someone that will disagree with you and think a different pack or whatever is better. And to me, from this list, there's only some of the DWG cars that I like, rest of the cars feels like drifting cruise ships or 18 wheelers on ice, not very enjoyable. :)
Here's the only link I could find offhand, was posted in the server cars part of their discord: www.mediafire.com/file/r2ppf6fl2jodbok/DEATH_WISH_GARAGE_V2.0.zip
So i recently got this game cause i wanted to play it after seeing it but firstly i didnt know there was a ton of dlc you had to also get to experience the whole game and i also dont know where or how to get a reasonably priced wheel controller because the cheapest i can find is like 200$ and idont have that type of money 😂 as someone whos never played a racing sim outside of gran turismo sport on shut down servers and need for speed on the ps2 what would you recommend for a noobie to the game?
A few people have mentioned, I've heard good things too but haven't had a chance to give them a shot yet. Hoping to do a follow up video soon with some of the other packs people have mentioned in the comments.
As someone whose only real life drifting experience is sliding an open diff 318is around a few roundabouts before putting it through a telephone pole, I had the same list minus the gravy garage cars because I've never tried them. Although I always feel like there's no way a proper drift car car could handle like any cars in assetto because it's so easy. Maybe I'm wrong.
Should be able to get it here. The physics are the same as the one in the video, I just customized the exterior for mine (custom mod) www.mediafire.com/file/r2ppf6fl2jodbok/DEATH_WISH_GARAGE_V2.0.zip/file
Imo a better title would be “best assetto corsa drift packs and realistic drift packs” as you have included tando buddies and adc, this would video also appeal to more casual players that are not necessarily looking for “best realistic drifting”. I think this is also a great guide to drift packs in assetto corsa giving new players a rough understanding of the more mainstream packs in assetto corsa; could be titled as “drift pack guide assetto corsa”. Just me thinking how you could squeeze all the views from this video and get the recognition it deserves. Great video btw nicely done.
Ha, I appreciate the marketing advice. I'm planning to do a second video bringing on some more cars people have recommended in the comments so maybe I'll name that one a little more broad. Basically do a running list top gear style.
HOW DARE YOU PUT MY FAVOURITE CAR PACK IN 4TH PLACE, ILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT IT WAS GOD HIMSELF THAT BROUGHT THAT DOWN TO US AS A SHOW OF FORGIVENESS! DESPITE THIS YOU DISHONOR IT!?!? (i havent even played assetto corsa yet, nor have i drifted. also i forget which one was in 4th place ill have to check.. i mean i wont, but if i cared to refresh my memory i would have to in fact check. have a good day and good luck drifting)
Geeze how does adc 420 keep getting put on "realistic" list, as a adc dev i can tell you adc 420 cars were a copy paste from tando cars just with modified inertia and tyres, our realistiv cars are actually the 300v2 cars or our proam cars we are still working on. But the reason people keep saying 420 is good is because they are cars you can just easily get on and get doors with without breaking a sweat
Essentially for this video I searched across Facebook, Reddit, and RU-vid for the most realistic car packs, and these 5 are the ones I saw mentioned most often. Given how much I've seen random folks in the community say ADC 420 was realistic I was actually surprised when I drove them. Makes sense knowing the Tando context, appreciate you posting that up. And to clarify, I'm not by any means saying they're bad cars.
Is the JZx90 beater from gravy garage too Arcady? I drive the DWG 350z and it feels more realistic (will spin out on you more if not careful) whereas the gravy garage JZx90 seems too easy too drift. Am I crazy?
The Gravy Jzx cars are definitely the easiest car to drive in that pack, mostly because they don't have any lag in the powerband where the turbo cars do. I wouldn't necessarily call them arcadey but the gravy cars in general have a ton of angle which let's you save yourself where you'd spin in other cars. That said, a lot of the IRL guys I know like gravy so there's something to that.
@@JankyDrift yeah my drift instructor loves and prefers gravy the most for some odd reason so I guess that explains it. I just thing DWG feels the “closest”
imo most packs are too "noob" friendly. Fun sure, but not realistic. Need custom made mods for specific cars. Most of these mods never make it to the public though. I got a few i can share if you want to give them a try let me know.
Interested in seeing what kind of cars you're referring to. Honestly I've heard lots of folks say drifting in real life is easier than a lot of the cars in the game, but about the same as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah the FFB did feel a little softer on some of the DWG cars. Needed to turn them up via the in-race menu, then they felt great. Gravy almost feels a little too much.
We try to incorporate settings for everyone’s wheel, what feels good on our wheels won’t feel good on some. So easy adjustable ffb damper can be found in the car tuning menu.
Anyone who watched the actual video would see that I said it wasn't realistic. And yeah all my in-car real life content on the channel is faked like the moon landing, did it in same studio too.
I think AC in general is just a lot more forgiving then real life, even the low power cars with minimal steering lock you can easily drive out of slides that would cause you to rotate irl.
I've heard a lot of people say the opposite too (sim being harder than real life). Assetto definitely isn't a perfect simulation, but it's a good place to start and build that muscle memory. Have definitely learned a lot more since starting to drift in real life.
@@JankyDrift It's harder to tell what the car is doing because you lack the seat of the pants feel but once you have learned how to drive around not having that it becomes easier, also I've noticed people struggle a lot less going from real life to Live for speed because of how they do FFB. Both sims have flaws but you can learn a lot from them even outside of muscle memory.
You talking the non-drift cars that come with Assetto? I think those are all ridiculous because they're on super-grippy tires (R-Compound or whatever).
@@JankyDrift Pretty much anything that can drift, I find it really hard to over rotate anything, you can do massive backwards entries and easily drift out of it without the car spinning, even in the stock GT86 you can do it.
I updated the model myself to make it look more stock (like my car). I haven't shared publicly yet but the handling is a direct copy from the regular DWG 350z. Actually working on a completely different model now.
Excellent video. Although prepare yourself for toxicity - this subject inspires so many arguments, because no-one wants to believe that the cars they've spent months trying to tame are the dumbed down baby's-first-steps cars for beginners. I only drift the high power ones, IDK why, so for me the most realistic(by which I mean 'trickiest', because let's face it, none of us know how an 1100hp Formula Drift Dodge Viper handles irl) car packs in the 700-1200bhp range are VDC, DCGP, FDAC(a step more powerful and unforgiving than the previous two packs) and a few others whose names escape me. They are all pretty grippy, which means they slip out of drift easily, so you have to be precise and quick with your inputs, and they are all ridiculously powerful, which means you have to just send it and hang on, there's no way to drift any of them conservatively. The middle rung would be Doorbreaker'z, which have some tricky ones and some ridiculously easy ones(also has the best sounding drift car in any game, ever, the 1JZ from the Evo 3 pack), and maybe World Drift Tour, although maybe that should be in the lower rung. The lower rung would be ACDFR, which have a lot of floaty, un-snappy cars that give you lots of time to react(although their latest car pack feels improved, so maybe they took some of the criticism on board), and Disturbing Tha Peace, for similar reasons. I think DTP's R32 was the first car I ever drifted in on AC. I used to use it a lot, then started trying out harder and harder cars. And I recently went back to the R32 after a long time and it was sort of ridiculous. It was like drifting in bullet-time. Pretty boring tbh. Keep up the videos, thumbs up and a subcription from me.
"because let's face it, none of us know how an 1100hp Formula Drift Dodge Viper handles irl" - Honestly that's one of the most interesting things to me about the Assetto Drift community. It seems like the most of the "X cars are trash" type opinions tend to come from folks who have never drifted IRL. Every time I try pro-level cars I'm reminded of how garbage I am at driving them, feels like it's almost an entirely different skillset and coordination you have to build. None the less, appreciate the sub!
@@JankyDrift "It seems like the most of the "X cars are trash" type opinions tend to come from folks who have never drifted IRL." Whenever I ask these people how they know they always say 'my cousin is a pro-drifter' or 'my friend is a e-sports racer'. One guy's argument eventually came down to 'I once sat in my brother's Skyline'. The internet is a place where the people who know the least and shout the most dominate. And it should always be a bit suspect when so many people have an opinion on whether a 1000 hp Formula Drift car handles correctly given that there are only about two or three people in real life who've ever driven it. There's only a tiny number of people who've ever drifted ANY kind of car with that horsepower. I just watched a video of Nico Rosberg trying to drift his 2000hp Rimac and he spun out immediately. Honestly, most of the time when people say 'X cars are trash' what they mean is 'I'm trash at driving X cars'.
tando is a cheater car pack they are more something you use when you are new to the game and just want a car that you can rip straight off with little to no skill :)
DWG is not officially supporting it anymore, for whatever reason. You can find the only link I'm aware of here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oT5vqu6xjR9Q6KoXpUINWE9YfMbwhUak2qT3H8-VTbo/
Been there a handful of times but moved up to the northeast, so E-Town is now my main track. Love Midpond though, definitely wanting to take a trip back down.
2 questions: isnt gravy garage have a little to big angle of steering wheels, it look like cars form CarX , or like a broken wheel to me, in other hand WDT have more realistic look of wheel angle..idk...And why would i need a handbrake, if i must to hold the clutch every time i pull the handbrake, the clutch kick do the same thing no?
Gravy Garage does have a ton of angle, but supposedly it's realistic to some of the angle kits that are actually available for those cars (wisefab). Either way you can definitely learn a bunch on either pack. Handbrake isn't necessary but it's nice to have. Ideally you should be able to drift without the handbrake, I mostly use mine to help correct angle, especially when I'm at a high rpm and clutch kick will have less effect. Both techniques add angle, but I would say the main difference is that clutch kick causes an increase in speed while handbrake slows you down. With that in mind, handbrake is a lot more useful for fine adjustments during tandem where clutch kick might propel you too much towards the person you're following. Side note: How did you get your game fixed? If I'm remembering correctly.
@@JankyDrift ty for your answer, no i didnt fix AC, i was download those your top 3 drift car packs , so i only found out that some packs have different acceleration feel, however i know CarX is arcade but there is a option wich control the throttle imput lag, to make it more responsive, now CarX have bad grip for my taste but thats another story, all in all i like AC little more and still missing the acceleration curve in settings....I know some AC fans wont like words, but those cars have power, and am 100% sure they are not respond (full throtle) that slow like it implemented...
I did an updated video where I included Lenny and 1:1. They've both decent, and I really like VDC 3.0 but since those are pro cars I don't include them in these reviews.
@@JankyDrift I watched it a couple days ago! 👍 My favorite now are DWG 3.0 & VDC, although VDC feels like cheating compared to DWG, as it does in real life I’m sure (comp cars).
think I pretty much agree with this list, learned on TandoBuddies cuz I just didn't know any better and all the servers ran them. then it was WDTS only for the longest time until I found GravyGarage. also remember really liking DWG but I haven't drove them much since not a lot of servers run them. another one I remember liking was the clutch gang car pack (IIRC) but I haven't drove those in ages
Tsujigiri cars are heavily based off of IRL Japanese suspension setups. DWG is more based off of western drifting styles. They are both the most realistic grassroots cars in all of AC, just very different driving styles. *DEFINITELY* a ton more realistic than WDTS, and more realistic than GG, although I have no real problems with GG. They are just really grippy and have a shit ton of angle for their power. Anyone claiming that Arch, or the packs that heavily take inspiration from him, has good physics has never driven a real car.
Guess I'd have to drive a japanese-style car, maybe if the channel gets big enough I'll take a trip to Japan and find out first hand. Wishful thinking lol. I don't ever go back and drive WDTS at this point, but I primarily learned to drift on those before hitting my first event so they get points for that in my book.
Hey man, you never know. You could be on a flight sometime in the near future. :) Yeah, WDTS isn't bad for a starting point. The tyres just don't have any real resemblance to grip. Decent starter pack though.
Just drove an arch car for the first time and have to say I'm not a fan. In fairness my Z is set up pretty well at this point, but drifting in real life is significantly easier than that. Feels a little bit like one of those video game elitist things where people just want to be able to flex and say they drive the most difficult cars in the game (i.e. "I beat the game on max difficulty"). That said, I'll give it a few more tries.
Check out my updated video expanding on this list including Arch, Excite V2, and a bunch of others - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--mFIgj6HPPg.html - Does DWG keep the crown?
I’m going to try real life drifting soon, thanks for a useful info, I’m running death wish garage and 1:1 simulation squad cars now to get properly prepared 😉
Really intresting video, i always tought that wdts was the most realistic but nice to know that my other favourites are good too, plus the wdts cars are kinda boring in my opinion
Yeah I think they're going to move a bit further down the list in my next video. WDTS had their time, but there are so many packs out there now that do things better.
@@JankyDrift thank you great video I used to drift on tando buddies but they really helped me get stuff like transitions and how to control and keep the drift now I am finding myself drifting on cars like dog without mistakes
its weird, i feel the exact opposite about tando buddies and ADC 420, they seem to spin out incredibly easily, almost too easily. granted i last used them like 6 months ago but they've always been super trash imo. And WDT street has always been my go to, i seem to never be able to spin those cars no matter how hard i try.
Ik this is an older video, so this comment might not be seen, but I was wondering if you can make a small review video/short on the "Excite!" 80s/90s drift car pack. I started to learn how to drift on Assetto Corsa using the 90's Golden Drift Spot Project tracks. So far what I've gathered comparing the WDT Street pack, the Excite pack seems a bit trickier to drift, but even more fun, though I don't know how realistic the pack is. Thank you. Cheers!
My channel is far too small not to see basically every comment that comes through lol. I'm planning to do a follow up video adding some more car packs like excite, not 100% sure when that one is coming since putting all that footage together takes some time. Excite isn't my favorite, but it's a decent pack. To me it felt like there was a lot of snap oversteer, which could maybe be because they don't have as much steering angle as I'm used to, but overall I'd call them realistic.
To me. Wdts cars feel like straight ass. It's just not enough grip at all. Gravy garage and BDC street cars are thee best in my opinion. I like n style cars but it seems like you gotta do much more clutching to keep the rear spun out
I don't disagree on WDTS, pushed them further down the list on the updated version of this video. So many people say those cars feel like their actual drift car, but I don't personally get it. Maybe if you're driving exclusively on scrubs. I'm not a huge fan of BDC personally, but everyone's got their own taste.
@@TeamDrif-Tastik If you've got 9 minutes and 52 seconds to burn this is the updated video where I talk about them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--mFIgj6HPPg.html TLDR: They feel a little floaty to me and the power is instant-on.
Hey bro, I noticed your computer background is at Lanier and some of your driving footage is from midpond. I’m from Chattanooga so I’m fairly local to those tracks. I’ll come say hey if I see you at an event!
Hey - I actually just moved up to the northeast over the winter 😬 ha. But I am planning to come do a few events down south over the summer so def come say hi if you see me.
I drift with the gravy garage cars almost daily, and I agree they are fantastic! My favorite is the regular jzx90, when I was first getting started this was the pack that got me good at drifting.
if youre serious dont even both with the ADC and tando buddies, gravy is the best out of that list tsujigiri is also alright just abit slow on transitions WDTS is good practice for wet drifting as they slide like its raining (speak from sim to irl experience)
Yeah i more or less say that in the video too. If you're looking for BS fun cars they're fine but if you're trying to get good on either sim or real life I don't recommend Tando or ADC. I need to try excite and a few others, planning to do a follow up video where I continue adding to the list top gear style.
Some are better than others, with the E92 drift car probably being my favorite out of them. If you’re on console they're fine to learn with, but if you're on PC I wouldnt bother with them as a majority of the mods out there are significantly more realistic feeling.
Great video, I will try out the DWG cars never used them but will try. Question what VR goggles do you have? Do you play 3rd person or in car while VR?
My headset is the Reverb G2, but they require a pretty beefy PC to really take advantage of their resolution. The Oculus folks seem to have a lot less problems. I run cockpit view when I'm actually driving, just screen record the replays later in different views when I'm trying to use for a video.
@@JankyDrift How do you record the separate views? do you literally just rewind it and record it from the start or is there a simpler way to get more POV's without manually doing it for each POV?
If you're trying to get different views of the same drift in-game yeah you basically have to just screen record the multiple angles separately. For the real life pedal and steering wheel views I had separate go pros mounted to record them at the same time.
I actually got into drifting via....Forza Horizon :) . I saw everyone doing it whenever I went online, and I'd tried it a few times and failed and was a bit intimidated, so I just sat down and practised drifting a Hoonicorn around the roundabout halfway up the motorway in FH4. From that point onwards the way I played the game completely changed. I just started drifting everywhere. The way I looked at the map changed. And two years later I bought a gaming PC and a wheel and pedal setup specifically for Assetto and its drifting scene. I don't think it matters how you get into drifting, and Horizon's drifting physics are so well judged that I've been able to transfer a surprising amount of it into AC.
I originally started drifting on Gran Turismo 5 back in the day with a logitech G27, and even then I picked up some skills that helped in real life (mostly general car control). Wasn't until I picked up Assetto that the skills started to feel like they more directly translated. Haven't tried Forza/Horizon with a wheel to have an opinion on that platform specifically.
Hit or miss, I'd probably put some of them over tando but mod cars in general are a lot better. If you're playing on console the Kunos cars are good enough to help you learn.
Honestly, the term *realistic* is subjective due to the numerous ways you can set your IRL car. Many factors such as tyres, angle kit, HP, road conditions, or whether it's stock can make a huge difference in terms of how a car feels. Alan Hynes who's a professional drifter in IRL and the former VDC champion claims his VDC car is 1:1 to his real life car. Then you have Miyamato who's one of the best lead and chase drivers for Assetto Corsa Street cars claimed WDTS felt like the car he drifted in real life. Or one of my friend who drifts an S14 claims arch physics was the closest. So "Realism" is hard to define in most qualitative terms. But what most people would agree is realistic is the math and physics underneath the car, and as far as any Assetto Corsa mods out there. Arch cars and SimSquad are the only are the only carpacks out there that uses the telemetry and real data from real life cars.
No disagreement on opinions being subjective, there are a lot of them out there on RU-vid, and this is just mine. My IRL car setup is probably the most generic grassroots build you could imagine, and the packs I'm focusing on testing are all mostly aimed at being the same. So I think my experience is a decent benchmark for testing that style of car. As far as Arch, I gave Lenny's 180SX a shot (with CSP rolled back) and I'm sure the math is on point but I wasn't a fan. I've owned a handful of RWD cars in my lifetime and none of them (aside from the S197 Mustang... lol) were that touchy.
@@JankyDrift In all fairness your wheelbase can just about produce enough torque just for the *friction* in a powersteered rack and the wheel spins about 1/3 (if even) of the speed of a real one. Driving a real car with that would be very difficult. A Japanese drifting champion (Not going to mention any names as he does not officially endorse me) liked my 180 and reckoned it's the best sim model he's tried. A lot of people hate them. Going to depend on a lot of factors, mainly gear.
@@ArchOfficial In fairness this wheelbase effectively allowed me to go from a folding chair in my living room to linking full drift tracks. I'd also be willing to bet a larger percentage of the folks watching my videos are not running DD gear, which means they're going to have a similar experience to mine (a good portion seem to be on logitech). I mention in the video that gear will effect how the car packs feel to you, and make a disclaimer that these are my opinions based on my experiences as a grassroots drifter. Really don't know how much more I can caveat in that regard. I'm sure your physics are great, but thus far I'm personally not a fan. Apologies.
@@JankyDrift I just provided an explanation for your experience. Most users use G or TM wheels and most content is geared towards that. You don't really need to do it for typical cars, but driving very peaky cars on track or drifting just about any car will require much higher demands from the gear. The real solution would be to invest in good gear (and even then you would be missing hydraulic power steering simulation so the FFB will differ greatly) but not everyone has 3000 dollars laying around.
@@ArchOfficial I get what you're saying, Appreciate the clarification and all that. Hope it's evident that I am in no way trying to diminish or attack anyone's work, just sharing my experiences. Honestly the whole goal of my channel and inspiration for the "Janky" name is to make IRL drifting feel more accessible. Part of that is sharing that you can put a more budget friendly sim setup together like mine (T300 is minimum I recommend) and still build driving skills that translate almost 1:1 to real life.
