As the story goes, the wife died and the husband cut her up and placed a piece of her in each of the 12 tribes jurisdiction. You're mixing up the events Lot's wife became a pillar of salt because she looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah as they were being destroyed. The men of Sodom wanted to have sex with the two angels that Lot invited into his home, and Lot tried to reason with them (by offering his own daughters), but they insisted and were also going to rape him.
