We know the government already uses legal torture

In my opinion "legal torture", that is, torturing criminals as a way of punishment for torturing others, would essentially make the justice system just as disgusting and depraved as the criminals. I'm for the death penalty because I think there are crimes so horrific that a criminal has effectively forfeited their life for committing such heinous crimes. But the death penalty shouldn't be cruel and unusual. Of course, our current ways of the death penalty is a debate in of itself but the point is, "legal torture" would bring us down to their level. On the other hand I completely understand where you're coming from. Admittedly, part of me wants that, too.

@@CardsharpGaming You're right, it's so hard because everyone has a different sense of justice. I feel like I'd agree at first with legal torture, but to bring myself to actually do it, thats where I'm conflicted. I'd have to be pushed past my limit.

Exactly but at the same time to do legal torture it would require our society to change their morality level and that’s kinda dangerous, at least I think. I wouldn’t want our society to be like those people during the Middle Ages viewing hanging as a fun activity to watch. I think it could maybe work I mean the country that I live in (US) has used torture to extract information from prisoners during the war against terrorism and I think the techniques used aren’t messy like other torture methods. But what would be the end goal? I think for torture with no goal other than to punish would be too morally wrong. I, personally, have a solution for what we should do with these type of sadistic criminals but I don’t think most people are ever gonna get on board with it.
