Hey all! Since I see various comments that ask "where are X or Y, they had many hits!", I feel I gotta clarify: I DID NOT pick these songs, I simply set and checked all the Eurochart Hot 100 charts between 1990 til the end of 1999 and built this video based on the success of each dance song that charted there. It took me 2 months to build this list. The Eurochart Hot 100 by Music & Media magazine calculated the charts of 16 European countries, including the 3 biggest markets: UK, Germany & France. The video is just reflecting what was the most successful dance song of each month according to the European charts.
I'm really surprise Ice MC and E-Type had never been n°1. And I thought Scooter had more n°1 too ^^ it's quite a miracle they still produce, like SASH!, respectively 30 and almost 27 years later.
Then you guys know that Spice Girls ruled 1996 to 2003. Wannabe not being in 1996 makes 0 sense. 1997 not having Spice up your life again makes no sense. We all know they are the female Beatles power wise for the women in music. This list was definitely some choices chosen. Definitely.
Definitely! The music was so interesting cause the musicians were very artistic, most wanted to invent the next new sound instead of copying it from others.
Это да. Не то, что нынешняя какофония, попробуй сейчас найти годную песню, особенно российскую! Вот советские и из 90-х и начала 2000-х (поновее их мало) шедевр.
O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!! I´m born 1979 and this was like a 10 minutes goosebump-ride and a chill all over my body. I really miss these days. I´m glad I found this list, so many songs I forgot about but is now on my Spotify 🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰
Watching this made me realize how much of an impact dance music from this decade had on pop culture and music in general. A lot of these song are still being sampled amd interpreted today!
Definitely! The dance genre was so revolutionary in the 90s So many different sounds and styles. The mainstream media never gave it the respect it deserved.
I could trace where I was and what I was doing at the time these tracks became hits. Music in the 90's was an experience unto itself and I consider myself blessed to be a teenager growing up during that era!
Soundtrack of my generation! I graduated high school in 1991, studied at university 92-94, then entered the workforce in 95...joined the rave scene in 96, then moved abroad in 2000. All of these songs were right in the zeitgeist of those formative clubbing years of mine. I remember almost all of them. The funny thing is, I still hear some of these tracks played in the clubs even to this day (yes I'm 50 now but still visit a nightclub every now and then). It's wild knowing that tracks like Pump Up The Jam, What Is Love, Boom Boom Boom and Rhythm Of The Night are still burning up dancefloors around the world 30 years later and younger generations love them just as much as we did the 1st time around.
I was born 1988 and grew up in the 90s. Fortunately I experienced the eurodance era even though I was very young. Nevertheless I have a really really strong nostalgia which goes back to the years 1994-1996 which is in my opinion the peak of eurodance. I couldn't really enjoy the music back then, I thought music is always like that. Wrong haha. Nowadays I listen almost only to eurodance and italodance songs. It makes me sad when I watch such compilations because I feel the energy and the colors and the spirit of freedom etc. which has disappeared nowadays....90s decade is in my opinion the best of the best in human history. Totally underrated. 80s as well but I prefer the 90s. Also the 90s movies were in my opinion much better.
We didn't exactly "miss out". We still got the cream of the crop. KLF, Corona's "Rhythm of the Night", Cher's "Believe", Snap, Haddaway, Faithless, etc etc. Euro disco was big in dance clubs here in L.A. but the records rarely crossed over to the pop chart, Cher's track and "Blue" being notable exceptions. I was very much into Faithless in particular.
This is clearly the European Dance hits of these months. I was a U.S. club DJ from 1996 through 1999 and I remember buying a lot of these as imports. I'm surprised I didn't see "Big Love" by Pete Heller on this chart as well as Paul Johnson "Get Get Down" or "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust. Great list, nonetheless.
You're correct, it reflects the success in Europe I might do a video that will reflect the success in the US, but I guess I'll have to focus on the dance and club charts cause most of them never cracked the Billboard Top-100 main chart. .as for the hits you mentioned: 'Big Love' was a hit in the UK (peaking at No'12), but wasn't a hit across Europe Paul Johnson's hit peaked at No'13 on the Eurochart Top-100 and Stardust peaked at No'5 in the month that Faithless 'God Is A DJ' was dominating the charts.
Awesome! I thought those songs were much bigger in Europe for some reason. I didn't know God Is A DJ was such a massive hit over there! It would be cool to see the U.S. equivalent of the Dance Charts from the 90s! Thanks for replying!
@@notsorandumusernameit was also in rotation in the asian music channels in 99. but radio wise it wasn't a hit in my country. and most people here were so poor at that time that they didn't have cable
Thank you for bringing smiles to my face as I reminisced about the discotheque days! Wonderful memories. "Just" 24 years removed since the decade ended. It seems like a lifetime ago.
All these songs take me back. I was 12 in 91 so I grew up to all these songs and the Detroit radio DJs would play this dance music late at night. ❤❤❤ I loved all of it and you forgot Ace of Base..
First of all: Thank you so much for watching it. As for Ace Of Base: I considered them as a pop band, so they will be featured on the future video of 'The Most Successful Song Of Each Month: 1990-1999'
Ace of Base, “It’s a Beautiful Life, All that She Wants, “ etc definately more of a Euro Dance group first with a POP-popular music vibe & popularity which followed their success. They are like Euro Dance version of ABBA lol. 😂

From the video i take this as my favourites: - Infinity, by Guru Josh - What is Love, by Haddaway - Children, by Robert Miles - Insomnia, by Faithless - Freed from desire, by Gala (Aspas is on fire!!! 🔥🔥🩵🩵) All of them are great, but these ones have a special space on my mind and my heart.
I just saw the best time of my life coming by in a flash, gosh I miss the nineties. But as a lot of my memories are linked to music I can definitely tell that some songs are not from the correct year and a lot of great other hits are missing
