As a Hyatt receptionist what I can say is that when a reservation is booked through fhr (which is a third party) the system tells us not to honor the status perks. It is also quite usual for the status not to be linked when booking third party so they may have not be aware of your globalist status upon check in. Regardless your room should be ready by 3pm regardless and this was a bit weird on their part.
I have booked many Hyatts with FHR and have always gotten full Globalist benefits on top of the FHR benefits. Also at hotels with other brands. The booking shows up in my Hyatt account as an eligible stay and counts towards status. Note that this does NOT occur with THC (Hotel Collection) stays. If the hotel is THC and not FHR, then no status benefits and no elite stay credit.
Got military orders to Okinawa Japan and livin’ the life here! Stacking up AMEX points to book a flight to maldives within a year or so! Also, the base is recognized as USA territory so 7X on hilton for food purchases
🃏 Hyatt is the only place I've stayed at so far where the receptionist tried to upsell a better room when mine wasn't ready yet (at 4:30pm), and she tried making it sound like she was doing me a favor 😂
I use Hyatt for all other expenses, as it's basically a 2x card(3x on restaurants, local transit and gym) until $15,000. I get a cat 1-4 cert which is worth 12,000 to 18,000 points, and 6 elite nights, which helps me tremendously to the 30-night milestone, which gives me another cat 1-4 cert.
Congrats on finally getting that Omega Sebby! For me, finally got out of 5/24 on the 1st and immediately applied for CFU. Completing the chase trifecta and use my 120k pts for last hurrah with Hyatt at the EOY.
Congrats on the Silver Snoopy! I don't have that kind of patience. I did buy my Aqua Terra from a boutique and I find that the Omega boutiques tend to have staff who are more knowledgeable and fun to have conversations with than third party ADs.
🃏 Tulum this week, working on an Ink Premier SUB (taxes will finish that up, alongside an Amex Plat Biz retention offer), with a WoH card along for its (targeted) 5x on gas/grocery. Need to put together a trip like yours to leverage benefits from a bunch of Amex cards.
Always love to see the different meals that Sebby and Mandy get in the various places that they visit! I do not know how they are not 300 pounds though 😳 🤣🃏
I didn't travel this month, but I just today booked a trip to Munich in June with my gold card. Will probably also use it to book an FHR or two :) Very excited! I also have the Delta skymiles platinum but flights to Munich on Delta were a fat $600 more than flights on AA. That's $600 I can spend on an FHR!
🃏 Not this month, but in late February booked Conrad Midtown NYC using one FNC and the rest of the nights with Hilton Honors points (transferred from MR). We got upgraded to a two-queen room, which was perfect since we had an unexpected player three that joined us during the trip.
🃏 We were at the Resorts World and ran into you coming from the parking garage. We were spending some of our Hilton points from our Aspire and Surpass cards. Along with the Aspire $250 Hilton resort credit. 👍
I didn’t know that you could book at the MGM using Hyatt points, which I take it means that you could also book using UR points. If so, that’s pretty cool. Now I’m curious what other hotels in Vegas I can book using UR points.
awesome vid, thank you! even though i’m deep in the sauce on credit cards, wifey would say obsessed lol, these are amex plat features i didn’t know about. i have a friend who’s always getting late check out with her platinum card and know i damn know why hahahaha; couldn’t figure it out for the life of me. thank you again for posting this. i have the platinum but usually always use hotels cards. now i see the even greater value of the card and will make more use of it.
🃏 I love these type of videos always great too see all the value you can get when playing your cards right 👌 Just noticed your the only youtuber i watch that carries the vanilla platinum and not the schwab platinum 😅
I also went to Vegas to see Taylor Swift! I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria via a Hotwire deal (we were able to match up the images and confirm it was Waldorf prior to booking). The lobby is under construction so we had to walk a bit to get to reception. Room was amazing and it was just at $300 for the one Saturday night we stayed. I was able to add my Hilton Gold status to room but not get any perks as it was third party booking. The only snafu we had was we asked for late check out, was told 1 PM, and at 11:30 AM I received a text asking why our stuff was still in the room! We had to run back from breakfast to grab our things but nothing major. Taylor was great. Definitely want to check out the sushi place you recommended in Las Vegas!
traveled to Miami last week...first time using new Platinum for access to Delta Sky Clubs in Atlanta and Miami, both times around breakfast. Was a nice perk and my first lounge experience. I think I am hooked!
Also booked Crockfords for the Sunday night of that weekend. First time in Vegas but I can't imagine it's normally THAT busy without the NCAA and Taylor.
@@AskSebby The Waldorf was going for $800+ that Saturday as well. As for Crockford’s, your content previously had me excited to go and it didn’t dissapoint. Can’t wait to go back
🃏Hey Sebby! Really informative video, truly appreciate how detailed you are. I was curious when you mentioned “certificates” . I was wondering how you get those? Thank, and really enjoy your content!
I just used my first $200 Hotel Collection credit at Virgin Hotels in Vegas. Since we drive, I prefer off strip. We'll have our first FHR stay in Vancouver next month. 🃏
The 50th Anniversary Snoopy, damn!!!!!!!! If I had know I could get on the list at Bellagio, I definitely would have done so. I tried to get a discount on an Omega watch 2 years ago that is not in high demand there and the sales people would not budge. So, I never went back in there after multiple stays in the past two years.
🃏 - In March, trip with 7 other friends to AZ - Airbnb. Paid for restaurants using Amex Gold, got venmo'd back. Trip to San Diego, used up 2 IHG anniversary nights at Intercontinental and 1 Hyatt Chase anniversary night at Manchester Grand. All 3 nights were due to expire in April and needed to consume. Been spending on Chase Hyatt card to earn free night for 15k spend. No trips in April.
Hi Sebby. Question if you have time. Does the Amex Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Reserve both have access to the Centurion Lounges and Delta Sky Clubs? I feel like they have access to the same lounges because of their tier but I can be mistaken. Thanks.
Interesting that now the dining credit at Resort had changed. When I was there in December 2022, Resort World had changed the food and beverage credit to one restaurant, the one that had the half VW van. I issued a complaint. Now, I see RW has reverted back to allowing guests to use other restaurants.
Haven't taken any trips yet but I've got some coming up this Summer. Balancing the CSP $50 travel portal credit, Amex Platinum FHR $200 credit, Citi Premier $100 hotel credit, and a few different free nights. Honestly if I wasn't getting retention offers for the Platinum I'd have cancelled it by now. I can get near full value from the Digital Entertainment credit and mostly full value from the Uber credit, but everything else I can't justify counting it at face value. The FHR credit seems like a solid use if you are going to Vegas, but I checked in every city I'm traveling to this year and can't really find hotels under $400 a night after taxes/fees. Getting a bit frustrated with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless as well. With the dynamic awards chart, there's pretty much no where but airport hotels to use the free night.
@@ChristianMillerUS I was offered 20k point for $3k spend in 3 months. Seems like the conventional wisdom is Amex points are in the 2 cents / point neighborhood so after that I'm coming out somewhere in the neighborhood of $200-300 ahead.
🃏congrats on the snoopy. I love my omegas. I have learned quite a bit from you and really look forward to you videos… any advice on the best way to maximize or use points strategies toward Airbnb‘s. I am usually a hotel guy too but with a family Airbnb’s become necessary.
the Amex FHR credit was MASSIVELY DEVALUED this year. Many hotels that were part of the hotel collection or FHR are not there anymore. for upcoming Istanbul and Paris trips I have, I tried looking and many of the properties are insanely expensive, making the credit useless this year. Even looking within the U.S., it's not the same - several properties were taken out of the program. I had to work really hard to even find a use of it this year. Such a disappointment!
I've called amex and even for multi-city trip, with one-ways throughout, so long as you return home it is round trip. I pressed even asking if it's between different carriers but still charged to Amex, they said so long as it's charged to the plat, I get insurance benefits.
🃏 Was actually in Vegas the Tuesday - Thursday before you (super cheap in-between March Madness weekends). This is my third year using my FHR credits, so still pretty new at maximizing. Tried Virgin Hotel two nights, then NoMad the second two nights. The rates were roughly the same and I enjoyed both hotels, but NoMad had notably nicer vibe, room and food credits: $60 daily breakfast ($30 per person) and $100 food/beverage credit through FHR across most of the MGM restaurants. Honestly hadn't considered FHR in Vegas until watching your experiences with it, so thanks for the advice!
🃏 Love seeing these videos of using your cards and strategies in the real world. It’s amazing that you have multiple certificates to use between player 1 and 2. Please do a video of how you split cards between the two of you and maximize. E.g multiple Hyatt cards or multiple hilton cards. What’s the optimal play here?
I was just in vegas. I used the fhr for Palazzo first night and Crockfords the second. I'm a Vegas veteran and Palazzo is usually my go to, however this was quite disappointing. Room had old towels in drawers and a pack of cigarettes. Ate at Mott 32 with was excellent as usual. I'll give Palazzo another chance as I have many years of great experience with them but this time was underwhelming. Crockfords though! Exceeded all my expectations on every level, plus the have a Randy's doughnuts now.
🃏 love the video! I’m running into an issue where I have the chase trifecta with the CFF, CFU, and CSP and I want lounge access as I’ve already been on 4 domestic trips this year and will be on a few more. But I’m not sure if downgrading the CSP then going for the CSR sub is worth it or just opening a Venture X should be my next step. I do love having the CSPs 3x streaming and 3x online grocery because I always pick up groceries and if you have a Kroger, Kroger pay will count as online too in store which I would hate to lose a grocery card since the CSR doesn’t have that benefit… what do people think makes more sense?
🃏 Signing up for newsletter! This was one of the best travel videos yet. Question 1 how are you getting globalist? Since I stopped traveling for business I think all my Hyatt stays have been non-rev. 2. If you feeling generous how do you have status on Delta do you have cash flights?
Im from New Zealand and unfortunately the credit cards here are very basic as are the points, there isnt a huge variety, so its really interesting watching your videos and seeing how it is overseas
🃏 Super solid setup here Sebby! I've really wanted to add the World of Hyatt card to my setup, but the SUB on it just hasn't been desirable enough yet. I could see myself adding the CSR for domestic trips in economy, but I can't get the SUB on that one until 2026... it's in the plans though! Great video all around as always!
🃏 I was at NoMad at the same time you were going to your hotels in Las Vegas, but no Swift tix. I got to use my last good offer from when I was an MGM Platinum cad holder, comped room for four nights, $450 food/bev credit, $600 freeplay. I have the MGM Rewards MC to get my 5x points, so hopefully I can get back to platinum from pearl. 😮💨
🃏Great Video. In my experience flying redeye's to JFK from another big city (LAX in my case) is always a hard pull for upgrades due to the heavy business travel.
🃏 i traveled to atl recently and got upgraded to their studio common from my Marriott brilliant card also used the food credit from that card and my Amex gold. I haven’t taken advantage of the FHR with my platinum card yet
Individuals are still buying and holding crypto coin? I didn’t know that , I guess a few know about integrating into the micro economy to help substitute FIAT or usdt for a more tangible exchange Experience, it more like capitalization with about 43.307% profits/ ROI weekly though.. ps.. Valerie Anne got me covered thanks
🃏 going to be going to Tennessee this month and then Vegas, San Francisco, and Colorado next month… I might upgrade my sapphire preferred to the reserve 🤔 I used to have the Amex gold but canceled it a couple of years and the platinum seems like a lot of money for me even though I’m traveling almost every single month 😅
