why do y'all complain so much? as a fan of the show and the group, we all,knew this was what was gonna happen. and besides, these girls did it for exposure under their company name. splitting off into respective groups and solo activities, and reuniting every so often as IOI will just give the members more income. also, sad to say but some of the younger girls on the group were not ready to debut yet...they just made it up the ranks due to being on previous shows or simple company recognition. and tbh, i'm tired of watching Doyeon and Nayoung get played every time theybrelease. 11 members is too much. they didn't get to show off individual charms in the songs bc they were all conforming under certain concepts. I look forward to them reuniting but I need them to branch out so I can see what else they're capable of.

Woozi Coozi Well companies make these huge groups so It's not their choice of how many members are in the group. And 11 and 13 is a lot of members which makes It harder to show talent from each member then if there was a smaller group.

They're disbanding because Mnet got bored and didn't know what to spend their money on anymore so they decided to make a show about trainees from many different companies competing to debut. 11 out of 101 contests were chosen to join a group and promote for a year before disbanding and going back to their original companies. Some will of the members from IOI will go back to being trainees or debut in groups that are already formed such as DIA and WSJN, and etc.

its not easy to knock on fantagio's,pledis's and jyp's door or from any company who own the girls thats already debuted and asked, "hey,can we take the girls cause they hv what it got". training a trainee consider a lot of spent too.when they debut,they wont get fully paid until theyre debt with company finished.and honestly the company who raised them and taught them.the motive of this project was to exposed them to idol life and fame.help the prepare.dont say its unfair.

Thank you for making this tribute for I.O.I, it was really well made. IOI was one of my first girl groups that I've stanned, ever since I watched Produce 101. I've noticed the way they bicker and laugh together, they really are one team. Especially for IOI, they must be extremely emotional about this disbandment because they been through everything together, they've danced and sang together, they became a kpop group TOGETHER. I've followed 11 of them since produce 101. They were my top 11 from the beginning and 2016/04/01 was the happiest day of my life as 11 of them made it in I.O.I. Yes, I have been fucking suffering from this pain of shit since that day.
what was even the point of putting them together then disbanding them? i understand that each of the girls had their own respective groups but they won't reach the same level of fame in those as they have with i.o.i. i understand that they all come from different companies but that still begs the question, what was the point?
Eve Tan The reason Mnet made the group is the same reason any group gets made; to make money. The companies only leased the girls to Mnet because they had no immediate plans for them, however once the girls got ultra popular some of their companies debuted them in groups to capitalize on their fame. The reason that the girl's companies want them back as soon as possible is because the share of the money they'd usually get from sales/activities is all going to YMC.
When Produce 101 came out, I did not watch the show and I did not pay attention to I.O.I at all. Then Whatta Man came out and it grabbed my attention. After watching Produce 101 and Weekly Idol, I absolutely fell in love with these girls and watching this video made me cry. I know how they feel. My best friend in the whole world will be moving away soon and starting her own life and I'll have to say goodbye and know it's the end. It hurts to know that each day that goes by is just a day closer to the end. These girls must be in so much pain. I wish they could just be a group forever. And they were so successful too..it's such a pity that the Korean industry focuses more on the product than the artists...

Looking through the comments, I see that a lot of people don't know why I.O.I is disbanding. I.O.I was originally formed through a TV show called Produce 101, just like Twice is from Sixteen. Produce 101 was a project including 101 trainees from different agencies and companies, including JYP, Jellyfish, and many others you might've heard. These girls went through a lot of stages and challenges to debut. When I.O.I debuted, there were 11 girls from different companies. But usually idol groups like them debut from one company. Their contracts were only for a 1-year debut, and then they all go back to being trainees in their separate companies. This is such a sad thing for me, as I love these girls together. Sohye has even worked so hard to be in this group, and debut. Somi had already gone through losing in Sixteen and finally got the debut she deserved from this show. All of these girls are talented, and I hope we get to see them together again on TV in the future even after I.O.I disbands.

There is literally no way for them to all stay together because they are all from different companies. That's what it's a temporary group, the whole point of it is just to really get the names of the trainees out there so that when they actually do debut from their companies they have some popularity. Some of the girls in the group have already debuted in a group from their company while being in I.O.I. Sejeong and Mina debuted in Gugudan from their company Jellyfish, and Yeunjung debuted as an added member to Cosmic Girls from Starship, Chaeyeon had already debuted as a part of DIA from her company MBK before she even went on Produce 101, Pinky and Nayoung will join the pledis girls and debut in a group. I.O.I is set to disband in January.
Linda Hilborn they are already members of groups in their companies so no that can't happen. Chaeyeon was only on the show because 1. She signed up for the show before she debuted and 2. To get DIA's name out. They all went on there just to make a name for themselves. Mina, Sejeong, and Yeunjung have already joined or debuted in other group under their companies so they can't just up and leave and debut in another company completely leaving their group behind. It is a project group and they all knew that going in

Ohmygod I'm tearing up. This is the only girl group who's bond is just unlike any other. They fit so well naturally and work really well together. They're already successful so why break them up? I honestly though whoever is in charge of this group will surprise us with a comeback later on and say 'This group is very successful. Let's keep them.' I think the agencies should come together and find a solution for I.O.I to continue on, even if they need I.O.I's name for the next wave of contestants for future seasons of Produce 101, I hope they just keep this team together with a new name. Before watching: IOI is disbanding that's sad (straight face) After watching: JUST REALIZED THAT THE WHOLE TIME I WAS INTO KPOP, IOI IS THE FIRST KPOP GROUP THAT I TRULY LOVED THAT DISBANDED :( *sheds tears* YEAH MOM, IM TOTALLY OK, ITS JUST THAT ADORABLE HUMAN BEINGS WHO HAVE GIVEN ME JOY ARE DISBANDING!! (I have issues I probably need to work out..)
sigh.. this shouldnt happen.. the tragedy of kpop... i havent been this excited over a group since snsd.. only this group had the potential to be the next snsd.. im so sad

They'll disband bc IOI is a project meant to last only one year and is over in January. The members are from different companies and some of them are already in other groups in their companies.

everyone knew its a project group only for a year, the girls themselves know that and they probably want to be with the other trainees they spent so long training with and debut in their respective companies. They all had a chance to get known which will benefit their girl groups, people should be happy!
We knew going into it but it doesn't make it any less sad... Some of the girls have groups to go back to while others have to wait, or have nothing lined up for the immediate future.
+rose anne somintac, It's extremely competitive for trainee to debut. This project provided a chance for them to debut and show their talents. Probably their own company will see a chance and form a new group and they are going to get more working opportunities. As trainee, they really have to grasp every possible chance. I.O.I is a way to open the door to the real entertainment industry.
I believe biggest disbandment in KPOP history is dbsk lol there was so much controversy going on with the whole thing that time as well.... but I love IOI and I'm gonna be so sad when the time comes
But I dont see how this was the "Most unfortunate" disbandmeant...everyone knew this was a temporary group and wasn't going to last, There are groups out there that disbanded because they couldn't afford it, No one was helping them, Health issues. They are most Unfortunate.
thats why unfortunate , because they were disbanded out of ordinary reason like you ve been mention. unfortunate because they were disbanded not because they go really bad terms , but because the contract was timeout.
ALIYA- CHAWALA-SHAIKH The thing that is unfortunate about their disbandment is the fact that they were told they will be promoting for 1 YEAR. But it was changed and were forced to disband with them only promoting 10 Months. Wanna One on the other hand got their contract extended just because of how well I.O.I was doing.

Produce 101 was a really famous show.. So many idols had covered "Pick Me" thou.. Why were most of people in the comments didn't know that IOI was a temporary group??
bcuz PD101 and i.o.i popular in Korea only but not Inter-fans at this rate if they come from Big3 company like Twice BP they will popular for I-fans too
though i don't stan them as much as BP. but they are in the 4th place on my list of the groups that i stan. And it's really heart breaking for me for the upcoming disbandment. Cause i'm one of those luckiest people who supports them since day 1 because i watched pd101 from auditions to line-up. I'm one of those people thinking about "what ifs" "what if they are in 1 company" and so on. It breaks everyones heart. Cruel for both sides. And unfair for both fans and ioi. I'll never forget the songs their faces, each names. From ot11 to Unit then ot11. I'll support you guys even if you come back to your own companies or some became an actress. I'll give my 100% support ! 😉✋👍
Knowing and facing their disbandment are two different things And whenever I listen to this song it reminds me of them. Thank you IOI for being part of my life for the past 5 months. Saranghae.
