Just a hint from Heloise... Keep a can of canned air on hand to blow stuff out of the way so that you don't have to reach into the envelope. Use a light touch on the trigger though. Great video.

So I got an mpcnc build finally close to done and started up my 7W diode laser and did a couple runs on some paper. It was pretty cool that it even turned on and I could control it. The problem I am having is that the system doesn’t seem to be able to duplicate the ‘dxf’ converted to gcode consistently. Anyone seen this before? Solutions? SOG?

Good video but I winced when you moved your axis about so fast, from what I've read you can move them manually slowly just not fast as the steppers create a current that then feeds back to your controller, potentially burning it out.

Your right. I have a bad habit of moving them too fast!

SOGC, Thanks for the video. I have a different CNC and am getting pauses each time Estlcam thinks it's raising the Z-axis for a move to the next line. I know there's a setting in there somewhere that I'm missing and I just can't find it. Your thoughts?...
@Someoldguycoding
@Someoldguycoding 5 лет назад
Is it just a delay and then it gets going again? Or do you have to respond to a pause on the user interface. Do you see anything in the Gcode?

@@Someoldguycoding you know when you're using a spindle, carving something, it gets to a corner or whatever and raises the Z-axis? I guess to clear the scuffed wood before going around a turn, maybe. Anyway, it just pauses for like half a second each time. I think I've got a box ticked in there somewhere, probably defaulted to the spindle settings. Just switched to the laser today, but don't know what to change in Estlcam when I swap between the carve spindle and laser.

@@buxtor that's weird. Did you look at the Gcode? For the laser, are you controlling it through a fan speed PWM signal? If so you can use M106 S255 to turn it on, and M106 S0 to turn it off. Set it in Estlcam. Setup->Texts->Laser,Plasma,Waterjet, etc. Also I like to cut the standoff down to a minimum (but that's optional) Minimum Is 0.1. Don't set it to zero or it may not work right. Also when defining the laser tool. Set Z Step to 0.1. Remember to set the standoff back up when you go back to your spindle.

@@Someoldguycoding Thanks for the response. After looking in the Estlcam forums I found it was the start and stop settings I had missed.

Are you using Skr Pro 1.2 as control board?

No just a RAMPS, but I'm thinking of upgrading

hi, thanks for the how to's, ive got a laser and a project id like to do but im unsure of how to achieve what im after, im also into rc planes and have been making planes from the plans that flitetest publish, so far they have all been made by cutting foamboard by hand, id like to be able to cut, score and mark in one operation but ive no idea how to accomplish this, any ideas?
@Someoldguycoding

kaighn80 sorry about the late reply, white foam board is very tough to cut. The laser cuts the paper surface just fine, but then dissipates in the white foam. Really a bummer. If they just sold it with black foam inside, I think it would work great...

Faraidun Hawramy Thanks for watching! I'm using a 3 watt SunWin brand off amazon. There's an unboxing video on my channel for that too. Something like "Unboxing the SunWin..." I need to do a follow on video about paper cutting too. Soon hopefully! Thanks again!

Some Old Guy Coding thanks for replying. your are right. your channel is so helpful. i printer all parts MPCNC SO i am doing assembly . so i need to learn about eatlcam and some other software.

Do you have a video on focusing and what distance to,use with the sunwin laser?

how do you mean? Printing on paper, cloth or stamps?
@rebeccaz7485

Well i guess since it's made from paper. It could to use for adding into artwork, like collage, so many ideas if it was a thin plastic to use as a stencil on just about anything, create T-shirt stencils, all sorts of patterns- a border along on a wall. Those nifty letter stencils..

Hi, what kind of laser is it, of what power?

Greetings! It's a Sunwin 3w laser from Amazon. There's an unboxing video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pv0BK7byrhc.html

Do you use it with the RAMPS card? PWM Modulation?
@Someoldguycoding
@Someoldguycoding 7 лет назад
Yes. In the marlin code, you end up remapping the pin that drives the D9 output to a PWM pin, which is 5V PWM. Check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LEjgp77TIy4.html
