I never understood why this album did not enjoy general positive reception; it's a masterpiece and easily one of the best 5 Motorhead albums of all time. Robbo might have been an odd choice for the band at the time, but damn he gave them so much class; the atmosphere of those songs is just magic!!! I've always loved their classic lineup but this one is just another perfect band.
I was like most people and didn't like the album at first. But as time passed on i decided to give it a chance and it's now easily among my most favorite Motorhead albums. I like the fact that it's different, has a bluesy feeling, the solos are some of the very best, if not the best. If Robbo stayed in the band along with Phil i think it would have made an awesome line-up.
Bernardo A. García H. I think it’s because people were too loyal to the classic lineup. Kinda like when Phil was on guitar and dee was on drums, people still were loyal to the classic one.
Best written album with Brian Robertson. Lemmy and Brian complimented each others playing and writing style. Too bad they did not stick it out for more albums.
ve4mm It was too bad but if Robbo was refusing to play certain songs from their catalogue then it really couldn't last. Plus while the guitar playing is great it sounds like it's being played through a Pignose amp
I had to edit my last comment, so you know, some fuckin bullsht about community standards and how this piece of sht place thinks there is something wrong with using a cussword. You know, it's amazing how these fuckin hardline leftists (I don't want to get political, that isn't me, but these idiots have a problem with using a cussword? when you know they use them left right and center at home) and guess what, I don't want to get into religion either, but even the Bible doesn't say there's anything wrong with using cusswords! Unless you take the Lord's name in vein. Other than that have at it. Isn't it amazing that the left wants to put more restrictions on us than the Bible does? Yes, I'm aiming this right at you fuckin prcks that want to decide whether something we post is "appropriate" or not.

I saw them on this Tour ( Oxford, 1983 ). No Bomber, No Ace Of Spades, No Overkill in fact no classics at all. I left the venue disappointed, angry and very deaf!
@@jamestidmarsh4913 Born to Lose is an absolute classic and Chase is better than the Catch is top 30 material ,a set standard for years. Shoot you in the Back not a classic? Cmon man they were never a singles band ,and Lemmy was quoted again and again he was tired of playing Ace of Spades ,had become their Silver Machine
Apparently Brian refused to play Ace of Spades because he was a big ol' baby. I had no issues with him replacing Eddie, but that kind of nonsense is just small and sad.
I remember seeing this line up, shortly after Robbo joined. As a matter of fact, at first I thought , "WTF. Did Eddie totally change his look? ". A friend of mine at the show spotted me in the crowd, and filled me in that it was Robbo. Maybe about 2/3 into the set Lemmy introduced Robbo, and said, " He's only been with us for about ten days, and I think he's doing a helluva fantastic job". I still have my "Perfect Day" vinyl. Always thought it was pretty good... Motorhead For Life!...
Saw them at Portsmouth Guildhall on this tour in ‘83. They had that massive back line of amps all switched on (not like today’s fakers), a huge PA, ridiculous volume. My ears never recovered after this gig. Robbo might not have been that perfect fit but I still thought his contribution to Motörhead’s journey and transition at the time was f***ing KILLER. Damn, I miss Motörhead.
Musically Robbo was a terrific choice when Eddie left. He could play bluesy like Eddie but also more melodic. Lemmy once said onstage: "You sound just like Eddie" to which Robbo replied: "Don't insult me, man!". I don't think he was joking. Robbo's Motörhead was the New Motörhead so he refused to play the old "Eddie hits". Lemmy should have asked Eddie to return after Robbo was fired. Phil Campbell and Würzel were excellent, but I never thought that their metal sound fit Motörhead. They changed the sound more than Robbo did.
yes wurzel and wizzo did change the sound but they were good.the problem was after Taylor left, the biggest mistake was Dee,excellent metal drummer but not for Motorhead, the sound changed completely after that
Best Album Motorhead ever made and Robertson is just great.... Went to see them twice on this tour in 1983 one at the UEA in Norwich and the second at the great West Runton on the north Norfolk cost and they blow the place apart !!
Fucking lucky chap.me favorite album.this album got to my small town in new zealand fucking well after release but so did alot of shit....miss the slow days.anyways blessed are ye man to see and witness 83 motorhead.
Killer lineup and one of, if not their best, album. Robbo wasn't popular with the hardcore Motorhead fans at the time, but you can't deny that they made an unbelievable album
saw this awesome set at the long lost West Runton Pavilion in June 1983. Left the building deaf but happy. you'll never see the like of this again. a real piece of history. Got drunk as well! Thanks lemmy.
This is amazing, they should release a DVD from this period. It is a great era for Motorhead. Like allot things, wasn't appreciated at the time, but most fans like "Another Perfect Day". The entire album has so many elements that make it so different, but still distinctively Motorhead. Thanks for uploading this.
Definitely not there best effort!! Guitar is out of tune..and there's not a lot of chemistry here !! Without that ?? Can see why Robbo only did 1 album !! Sucks .. Good songs. But Something is missing !!
APD is a masterpiece in his own right.great sound.fine songs.musically the best Motörhead album.ace of Spades,Bomber, and Overkill are their classics.their legacy
C'mon dude,i admit i was a "original line up snob"for a while, but I'm just going to mention Bastards,We are Motorhead, and Inferno, just fuckn' high peaks in very fuckn' high range that is this band's discography, once Phil got his groove on he was the man for Motorhead, and so was Mickey Dee.
This was literally the loudest show I ever saw (Cabaret Metro, Chicago), everything was shaking like literally the entire building, giant stacks of amps behind the band. I pushed up into the main floor between numbers and Lemmy announced "This is called Iron Horse"-when Phil slammed into the drums I think that is what having a horse kick you feels like. It was GREAT, I loved the album, Brian was so talented on guitar, a totally wonderful show. My foolish friend wore no earplugs and kept hitting himself in the head the entire way home ;-D (idiot!!)
This lineup/tour was my first time seeing Motorhead in concert. Agora Ballroom, New Haven, CT. I was 17. This is the first footage I've ever seen from that tour. Wow!
Wow...., bite the bullet... Well done..., that life version of bite the bullet is... 🤯.... And another perfect day = best of motorhead (imo) Only down side of this session is that Brian's guitar is too screechy... But this concert is a real treat...., I can't believe it's life! Really good band motorhead was.., still is..., and always will be number one rock and roll band period! Thanks for the upload Greetings bibia Ps more plaese😁
Great audio Ricky, thanks for posting this! Personally I stopped listening to Motorhead after Fast Eddie left. The band's sound changed and not playing Ace of Spades or Overkill in a Motorhead gig is just a joke. Picked them up about ten years later when they had a really stable line up with Campbell and Dee who are really fabulous musicians and complemented Lemmy's style. And they always played Overkill as either their first or last tune!
Spike Michaels That was what got Brian Robertson fired in the first place. He's a great player, don't get me wrong, but not playing classics is just not on
Le show continue !
The 4 thin Lizzy albums Robbo played on had his musical fingerprints all over them. It was never the same after fast Eddie left (not saying worst)the fans in England didn’t like him in his presentation and approach to his playing and changing the solos. But in hind sight this was Motörhead’s most melodic period.
A.P.D. is somewhat when Ian Gillan joined Black Sabbath to do Born Again, something very different, but still great! Wonder what Motorhead would be like if Robbo had stayed?? Thanks for posting, was great to finally get to see this line up live and finally see Motorhead perform Iron Horse :-)

Thanks RickyTyger, this sounds AWESOME ! Robertson's using the same ol' Les Paul and Marshall and getting the most personal sound from the first note to the last. What a killer Blues-Rock stylist !! And Philthy's grooving like a mad dog !!
Lucas fox is still alive he's the first motorhead drummer, so if we are gonna pass the crown of motorhead it will go to Lucas when Lucas passes it will go to robo ...fox,robo,Pete gill ,Campbell, dee are the only motorhead member alive today

Saw them in Denver about 10 years ago. So sooooo damn LOUD! Loudest concert I've ever been too. And they were every bit as good as they were loud. Unbelievably loud. So. Damn. Loud.
Fuck Ace of spades, THIS is their best album. Robbo added his bluesy influence and it made for a better album. I can't listen to the other albums all the way through because it's 40 minutes of boneheaded music. I need some Melody and tasty guitar playing
I agree. Another Perfect Day is one of their best, if not their best ever. I was a great fan of Motorhead from buying No Sleep Til Hammersmith when it came out. I adore the first chiswick rec. LP, even the old On Parole tracks and I definitely stopped listening to the band after Killed by Death came out...........not been able to listen to any of their stuff since!
HAS ANYONE A F****N CLUE ABOUT THE DATE OF THIS CONCERT ?????????????????? THANKS FOR THE AWESOME SOUND ENHANCING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the pleasure to see them on this tour, its a real shame robbo didn't record more with them, classic album..so pleased lemmy rip put some of the songs on later set lists.
Estoy muy triste y melancólico escuchando mi álbum favorito de Motörhead another perfectamente day "one track man" lemmy gracias por darme el placer de escucharte....
Back At The Funny Farm 0:00, Tales Of Glory 3:43, Shoot You In The Back 6:56, Marching Off For War 9:29, Iron Horse, Born To Lose 13:47, Another Perfect Day 17:15, Don't Need Religion 22:14, One Track Mind 25:01, Go To Hell 30:41, America 34:02, Shine 38:26, Dancing On Your Grave 41:30, Rock It 46:17, I Got Mine 50:30, Bite The Bullet 55:37, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch 57:12.
In this concert he is actully pklaying one old song and a cuple frpm Iron Fist album, but otherwise, no. it is insulting the fans to refuse to play ttheir old biggest hot like Ace of spades.
i think if Lemmy had of embraced Brian as the future as Ozzy had with Randy they could of kept making stunning albums such as APD,but to be fair to Motorhead unlike Randy Brian was already famous by 1978,an established superstar,he wouldnt of been easy to get along with
Second time I saw Motorhead was at Portsmouth on this tour... it never really registered that they didn't play the 'classics' because it was so loud that I couldn't really tell what they were playing... it may just have been Robbo's tone, but they appeared louder than at the same venue on the previous Iron Fist tour. Saw them again same venue 2003 and many times after until Hammersmith 2011... they seemed a bit quieter than they were in the 80s... maybe venue sound limits changed in the meantime...
