You still had some nice moths there Trevor, the canopy sounds like a brilliant idea, do you plan to make it wide enough for you to sit under it, could be quite cosy and would mean you don`t have to rush to put the trap away .
Great video Trevor as your videos always are. Got a soggy moth trap to go through in a bit, not hoping for much although I do know there’s a merveille and a red green carpet in there somewhere as they were early to the light at about 7pm when I was out checking. Hopefully won’t be too disappointed. As cold and often grey as autumn is, there’s some absolute stunning moths and some of my favourites. Take care, Maxwell
@@theramblingentomologist thanks Trevor, a few nice ones including a very late dark arches. Red green carpet must’ve flown off as no sign of that one. Blair’s shoulder knot too, flew out of the trap when I opened it to put a juniper carpet in! 😂 I’ll do a video which will probably be out this evening or tomorrow since I’m working today.
Morning. On that same night I managed 16 species at a UV strip light placed in my conservatory window.. Best was the blush pink form of The Vestal which I haven't trapped since the great migrant year of 1996. Also had my first Augusteac at work and home this year. Must be on the move.
@@theramblingentomologist Cheers. Only my second Merveille here in 32 years of trapping! There are no close-by oak woods, but I've also had Purple Hairstreak so the odd few trees dotted about may suffice. Good luck! Regards, Gaz.
