Mother attacked while walking newborn baby in Brentwood; suspect on the run 

Thank God she and her baby are alright. My goodness what is happening in our society? As a woman myself and going out alone is downright scary.

He is already out on only a 50k bond, he lives in that same neighborhood as the victim with his mother. Why he gets to be out when he is clearly a danger makes no sense at all. I was attacked in Santa Monica 4 years ago, it’s hard to feel safe- can’t believe this happened in Brentwood though. Sad.

Santa Monica / Brentwood area has a very high population of crazy homeless people. I used to work there in the mid 2000s and had to call the cops on a weekly basis (at least) bc there would be some crazy person in the store. It’s only gotten worse since then

There almost seems more to this story, wondering if it was personal and not random. Obviously a super wealthy neighborhood, random, shirtless white dude who doesn't look strung out, running through the neighborhood like he's jogging. That father must be feeling 100 different emotions with a newborn, especially with it happening while he was right there, he was looking very vigilant. That parental protective instinct is powerful. So glad she was able to fend him off. What a harrowing and unbelievable thing to go through at such a tender time. Those early days of taking a newborn out into the world are already cautious ones. She would still be healing from giving birth and walking is one way many new moms heal and strengthen. The sexual nature of the attack, as well, is especially disturbing. I hope to God she doesn't have a scar and have to look at the memory of that every day in the mirror for the rest of her life. As it is, she has to take care of these injuries alongside taking care of her baby, which should be a precious time of falling in love. I hope they catch that lowlife. CA is such a nightmare, there are no safe places anymore, and I've been sick of this state for years. Costs $20K to relocate to another state and it's too expensive to be able to save that kind of money.

I had a lady ask to hold my baby and she would not give him back. She kept saying; "I can't have babies and you didn't deserve one." I had just had a C-section and called for my husband. He got our baby back, but I will never let a stranger hold any of my babies again. This lady got punched. It's very scary. You don't know what to do for a second. Glad she is ok and the baby is ok.
