India’s Tadoba National Park reaches blazing temperatures during the summer months. The heat and scarcity of water leads animals to assemble at common waterholes. Sharing these water sources can lead to vicious encounters like this. The fight began when the sloth bear and its cub approached where the tiger was drinking. The tiger immediately charged the bear when it reached the water. The fight went on for 15 minutes. Each animal is likely to have sustained notable injuries, but the sloth bear was able to protect its cub.

The description is wrong. Tiger did not charge the bear. Tiger came to check out the bear cub when mama bear saw that she immediately charged the tiger. The tiger is really powerful but it seems he did not want to kill the mama bear or was confused whether to kill her or not. The long battle made him tired and he makes a wise move to quit.

It’s still a baby though. They don’t mature with size like humans, rather with experience. Something most humans tend to not have and therefore get trampled by society emotionally, mentally, and physically.

Sloth bears are the most aggressive bears out there, they will attack anything on sight even if its not doing anything to warrant it, they don't even have to have cubs to be that aggressive (yes I know most animals aren't agressive but are defensive, but these guys are phsycopathic), they don't eat you either because they're vegetarian, they're just sadistic, they have some of the most grizzly aftermath photos because they stop attacking long after you're dead.

@@cougargold Not _quite_ true...but the statement has some merit. Lionesses will not fight to the death for their cubs if a new male overthrows the father. Female polar bears routinely (somewhat) abandon their cub if a male polar bear gives chase and it looks like mother and cub won't be able to get away together. There are other examples in Kingdom Animalia

this was a female sloth bear.. 250 lbs at most.. the Males are almost 400 lbs.. I doubt a tiger would just walk up to even one of those and pick a fight with it.. Im sure tigers predate on SMALL sloth bears by AMBUSH tho..

@@soramirez5473 Tiger are solitary predators so they very much want to avoid anything that can result in injury. Even a relatively minor injury might make it unable to hunt and thus result in death. Very surprising that it even picked this fight. It isn't about who would win, the tiger needs to be able to win without receiving injuries. Injured sloth bear can still eat fruits, ants and termites. An injured tiger won't be able to hunt anything.

1) tigers are heavier and stronger (more muscle density) than lions. A lion will have absolutely no chance against a bengal tiger, let alone a siberian tiger, which is the biggest cat. 2) Lions fight mostly with their jaws, while tigers are also skilled fighters with their paws. 3) there has been a number of cases throughout history where people put together a lion and a tiger in a duel. Most of the time tigers won unless it was a youngster. Im not trying to hate or bash lions by saying this btw, im a huge fanboy of all cats. EDIT: the only advantage lions have is that they are in a group, while tigers are mostly loners.

I don't think Baloo ever stands a chance in any of the adaptations for The Jungle Book, or manages to hold his own against Kahn. In the book, Shere Kahn is killed like halfway in, stomped by a cow stampede.

In the 2017 remake of jungle book Baloo holds his own quite well but it’s obvious shere khan is stronger than the average tiger. At one point bagheera points out a tiger is after mowgli and baloo isn’t intimidated until he hears its shere khan

This was a SLOTH BEAR that held its own which is on the smaller side of the bear family, i love all animals but if had been a grizzly, kodack, or polar bear. Would have ended much diff for the tiger. Yes I know a tiger would not see a grizzly in the wild im just saying, there is a HUGEEEE weight difference

@@FireTigerT3 common misconception about bears is that their claws are very sharp. They're actually not any sharper than your average dog's claws but what makes them effective is the bears power and strength.

@EXTREME even so, their claws aren't as sharp as a tigers. Big cat claws are meant to slice through fur and flesh easily and also to hold on to their prey. A bear's claws are better suited for climbing. And if you claim to be educated on the subject why are you arguing in a RU-vid comment section?

bear will fight only if no other choices left. They usually avoid tigers as much as possible, ESPECIALLY if they share same grounds. Tigers do not hunt bears too, usually.

hahahhaha massive tiger. That tiger is not full grown yet. It wasn't much bigger than the bear. The tiger is obviously a very young and inexperienced tiger who probably just left his mother. It is easy to see his confusion when he had the chance to kill the bear but didn't. He looked like he was playing more than fighting. A tiger in full fighting mode is much faster and furious. They are demons when fighting. This tiger seemed more calm and playful.

That’s why i laugh when people say lions or tigers can whoop a grizzly bear. Grizzly’s are literally 3x the size of this 😂. This was like a pit bull (sloth) vs a Rottweiler and it was a decent fight. A grizzly would be like upgrading the sloth to an alpha grey wolf, 😂

Kitty has to get past 6 inch claws in a paw the size of a 5 gallon bucket lid to even try to get at him. Ambush would be his only real chance. And of course we’re talking head to head at the watering hole

Kodiak or Grizzly are native to Alaska or the Canadian British Columbia; this is a small tiger and a small black bear probably out in Asia or India... Learn your geography please.

@@chavamma I Don't think anyone is suggesting otherwise. It's an answer to the hypothetical question which animal would win in a fight between a grizzly and a tiger. Also Grizzly's are found pretty much all over Central and West Coast America all the way to California some sightings have even been reported in Northern Mexico. It wouldn't be a case of learning geography anyway that would have been the problem, it would be a case of understanding the territories and where these animals are native to.

Stop humanizing animals. The bear acted based on it's instinct. It's not even self aware. It doesn't think to itself "I must do this" or "I might get hurt". It has no concept of itself as a self and being brave. It bites stuff or runs from stuff with about as much thought as the last time you coughed or sneezed.

India is truly amazing. Has preserved so much wildlife and forest cover, both of which have been increasing since last 15 years atleast. Also, Tigers can easily kill grizzly and polar bears, it is just that the Tiger here is small and the bear is protecting her cub.

The tiger, like most predators, know when to back off. Pride is not the issue, injury is. If they get injured such as losing a canine or breaking a bone on their paw/leg, they will die. The bear had all the reason in the world to fight (she is a mother). The tiger knows it has a better chance finding a frog somewhere and eating it to stay alive another day. It doesn't have to worry about its Facebook friends teasing it because it couldn't take down a measly cute bear.

Yes. This was a clear object lesson in motivation winning the day. The tigers motivation was either being irritable or maybe even just fun/bullying. The bears motivation was protecting her family. It looked as though the tiger had many advantages and seemed to clearly “win” the fight. But, the bears motivation was stronger so eventually the tiger decided it was not worth it. Good object lesson. Fight for the things that matter and you will often summon the power to survive and even win.

Tiger probably wasn't hungry, he looks pretty well nourished. Just wanted some water and got irritated at the cub wanting a drink at the same time. Momma got all emotional, and the tiger entertained her for a little bit, then said f*ck it and went on his way. Had this actually been a "fight", it would've been more of a "massacre", not in the bear's favor.

lil nug not sure that it would rip a tigers head off but it would probably win due to higher bite force and bears fight with claws so he would also have reach advantage. Grizzlies have extremely thick hair and neck so I don’t think the tiger could kill a grizzly since they puncture necks to kill but it would be interesting to watch.

This is a bengal tiger and it also wasn't fully grown. Siberian tigers a the largest and strongest subspecies of tigers, and live mainly in the Russian far east. They are even known to take down ussuri brown bears, be it by ambush

bears have incredible stamina. it's amazing to see a tiger fight for 15mins. usually they hide and leap on its prey and finish quickly as possible. tigers are like the ninja warriors.

He wasn't, Tigers are solitary animals, so they have to play it smart, it noticed loosing to much energy trying to bite trough the bears fur, it got frustrated and decided it wasn't worth it, look at it, it looks like it's playing, have you even watched a Tiger fight?
