This should be a lesson for everyone on both sides. There will always be someone that disapproves, but as long as you & your partner stick together, no one can come between you guys.

That mother in law would never see me, her son or her grandkids ever. She dangerous and can’t be trusted around my family.
@CeltycSparrow
@CeltycSparrow 3 месяца назад
I agree. I am SHOCKED her son allowed her to remain after she assaulted the bride and drenched her in red paint on her wedding day. I would have had security remove her right then and there. And then she attacks her DIL AGAIN and physically injures her? Absolutely not...she would not be getting near me OR my kids...I don't care how much she cries and apologizes. There is NO excuse for what she did to this poor bride. She's dangerous and not to be trusted.

@amahra100 your response show's you have no idea or no clue on why its wrong with what you said....1st kids can be to young to understand so its parent's responsibility to protect them...if that person is dangerous why would you send your young children into that danger?? plus you have never seen how that person could try to slowly poison those kids against their parent's, again said kids are impressionable, long run it would not be good for their mental health at least...if anything you can let them make that decision way later on when they can stand on their own 2 feet and be honest and inform them of why as parent's they made that decision to not go around that person....

This is too bad.😢 This has no longer to do with parental love if parents try to ruin their children's lives and marriages. Parents can, should or must interfere when their children are really in danger also if they are adults or to avoid or prevent them from doing the worst mistake of their lives. If they are blindly and crazy in love with someone whom they suspect or witness to be really evil in secret. In order to protect their son or their daughter. In this point I agree with that. But not to ruin their lives because it doesn't suit them. This has nothing to do with parental love for their grown up children. It's just being selfish, narcisstic and psychopathic. Because you think that the partner of your daughter or your son is just not good enough for her or for him. Or because of your prejudice or the partners don't meet your own expectations.

No one from my husband’s family participated at the bridal shower. I let that go because we had a lot going on at that time. At our wedding reception my now mother in law came out on the dance floor near me and said that she never liked me and never would. Again, I held my composure and we saw them about once a month. When I got a divorce, I took the two girls to Florida from NJ. They did not show any interest in seeing them again so the 3 of us were our own family. Both of them hold jobs that are based on helping others. I love them deeply, along with my twin 14 y/o grandsons. I believe if you love your partner, don’t shy away from bonding before you marry with your in-laws to be.

This is a lovely story about a Mother-in-law interfering with her son’s wedding which is often the case. When my son got married I vowed to him that I would not create any discomfort to him & his future wife. This I did and now I have a good relationship with my son & daughter-in-law.

Unfortunately there are WAAAAAY too many boy moms who refuse to realize that the son is moving into a new chapter of his life. One that involves him having a wife. They see the GF/fiance/wife as a intruder. And they want to remove that 'intruder' from their's and their son's lives.

If my mother would have done something like that to my bride to be I would have banned her for life. If her son had any balls he would have told her to get lost and never come back. My mother didn't want me to get married but I stood up to her and told her that I was going to get married wether she liked it or not. I was 30 years old and I found the love of my life and I wasn't going to let anyone stand in the way. My mother passed away in 2002 and my wife and I celebrated our 35th anniversary on February 17th this year. And we are still in love as the day we were married.

Sadly, there are all too many mothers who look at their son as an additional or surrogate husband and look upon any potential daughter-in-law as a "homewrecker" causing their son to "cheat" on her. This mental ailment is sometimes called a "Jocasta Complex".
@trenae77
@trenae77 2 месяца назад
As a student of Classic Humanities, I always found this a misnomer since the Jocasta in question DID NOT KNOW that Oedipus was her son when she married him, and committed suicide when she learned the truth.

I too am VERY blessed to have amazing in-laws AND an incredible husband. What makes my relationship with my in-laws, especially my mother in law, so special is my biological mother is a truly horrible person and I don’t have a single memory growing up of her saying,”I love you” or ever holding me. In fact, on my 16th birthday she announced that she wished she would have had an abortion. There were literally hundreds of times that her evil showed but the other events pale in comparison to the day a 50 foot tall tree fell on my RV, less than a foot from killing my daughter and totally destroying my only home at that time as a unpaid missionary. When I foolishly called her seeking comfort for the terrifying ordeal she screamed and cursed at me for bothering her while she was sick and slammed the phone down. To add to my pain she chooses to lavish all the love I didn’t,(and don’t to THIS DAY), receive on my brother instead and he is the,”golden child”. All that being said, I am eternally grateful for the beautiful gift of a loving MIL,FIL, and SIL, who, like me, are very demonstrative and affectionate. My relationship with my chosen family grows stronger every year with my beloved husband and I thank God every single day for them. I’m also proud to say that I have a very warm and loving relationship with my own children and not a day passes without exclamations of love crossing our lips. The cycle of abuse and toxicity has been broken. ❤️‍🩹💓

@@CleoWard Situations like yours are not unheard of. Your not only a symbol they won't get back together with,but also a symbol of faithfulness. You won't believe how many stories of Sons breaking-up with cheating GF's and the mother does everything she can to get him to forgive the cheater. Sometimes the sisters jump in and double tag team these guys with the mother. It's believed that the mother as well as the sister have cheated on their husbands and BF's themselves. Cheaters often support each other. When the mother sees her son ditch a unfaithful GF it reminds her of consequences, consequences she should have received herself ,but was lucky she didn't. Of course it can also mean she hasn't cheated ,but is thinking of it , or wishes she could do it.

Made me think of when I first got engaged. I was told by his mother that I was from “the other side of the tracks”. That was true, as a set of train tracks ran through the town east to west and cut the town into the north and south. I quickly pointed that out to her. Her next comment was that she wouldn’t come to our wedding. Her name was Agnes however my reply was “angus you don’t need to even think about that…you haven’t even made the guest list yet”. An unspoken understanding was reached that day. Although it didn’t come overnight she eventually gave up the hurtful comments about us to her son knowing that I didn’t have a problem calling her out regardless of where we were. She wasn’t informed of her status on the guest list right away, and yes I was a bitch and held that until about four months ahead of our wedding. We got along fine after all that until her passing some 48 years later.

The incident where the mother-in-law hired someone to damage the bride's wedding dress by throwing red paint is an extremely reprehensible act, reflecting a deep conflict in family relationships. Her son's actions afterward, although not explicitly stated, appear to have made her pale, suggesting that he may have sided with his wife. This is not only a lesson about trust and support in marriage, but also about setting boundaries with family members.

What a horrible mother-in-law. Poor Briana. Instead of enjoying her wedding day she was humiliating by her MIL. The MIL want to control her son's love life ruin his wedding. But Briana told Liam to let go so the wedding ceremony continue. The MIL should be ashamed for what she did that day. Liam want to teach his mother so he went out while his mother was sitting watching whats going on. She make jokes to forget what happened but the guests looked at her with disgust. Liam told his mother to leave but there was confrontation until she left with tears. After ward the MIL tried to make reconcilliation and started to treat Briana kindly. If only the MIL show kindness to Briana may be the wedding cerelebration would be amazing and enjoyable. It was nice that Liam stood up to his mother. It show he really love Briana. Do not fear the loss of your beloved child to adult life & marriage. That means you did a good job as a parent. They are fully grown & able to love & can now provide & expand into a family. You should be rejoicing in a happy future where you are happily included. You are not losing a son or daughter unless they chose badly & love turns toxic. But that is a different story, if they have grown up & picked a partner, you are blessed. You now have a full family & the circle is connected the way it should be. Sometimes there is mental illness on the parents part & they go jealious then, Insane they choose their own hell when they could have had love & laughter, light. They choose the dark, then sit holding a candle & a match Screaming and cursing the darkness that has befallen you. That is this stupid woman who is now bitter & alone. In a prison of her own making. Well that was a hard lesson, but it needed to be taught and I do hope that the grandmother is keeping to her word. I don't agree with the threat of never seeing her grandchildren, but it obviously worked and the mother-in-law was very hurt by it. In my opinion (as the Devil) maybe the threat of not ever seeing her grandchildren was the wake up call she needed.

It is true that if you and your husband start out your marriage as a united team then respect and support each other along the way everything will be great. The second either of you doesn't treat the other the same way you did when you were courting the end is a definite possibility. Never let anyone treat you or your partner badly (neither in words or actions). My marriage started out with my mother in law to be telling my husband she would have rather seen him dead than marry me and become a part of my family. Then when my father in law died my husband only got a 3rd of his inheritance and none of their possessions because he was still with me. We have been together for 33 years. I'm not saying everything has been walking on sunshine but it hasn't been the total nightmare it could have been either.

A 20-minute story that can be told by a journalist, who also has pictures or video, can do it in 3-4 minutes. Are you paid per spoken word? It used to be said about authors who wrote detective novels that they were paid per word. So when someone was shot, it was with at least 3 to 4 shots.

I had wonderful in laws. This is a heartbreaking story. I'm not sure I could ever have forgiven her. She sounds so toxic. I'd be wary of her still. 😮

I have an ex MIL just like this woman. She was so jealous and vindictive and cause me, a young girl from a local orphanage and mo family, so much pain when all I wanted was a family. So after yrs if crap from him and her we divorced and his 2nd wife and he would not let her see or be around his children. She then reached out to me that she wished we had stayed together. Well learned what goes around comes around

Wait, why did Liam’s mother scream when he approached her? That was not explained! Did he spill wine on her? Did he tell her to leave? What happened to make his mother scream like that?

This story is just that..a story. No Mr. Carlson or siblings to intervene? No Carson friends or Aunt/uncles or cousins to intervene? If this was a true story, I would say “Run Brianna, run !” Not a family I ever want to be part of.

I don't really blame Liam for lashing out at his mother. She was doing everything she could to ruin brianna. It was his mother's own fault for hating brianna in the first place

MIL's can be fickle. I had always gotten along with mine until recent years. I learned that I was just her DIL , nothing more. All over her hoarding, which I offered to help clean and me stepping in to take care of my FIL whom she had been divorced from over 30 years. She didn't like the fact that I was more responsible than her daughter who was supposed to be FIL 's POA for his health. I took charge cause daughter did nothing and the two of them could not handle it. They both made things difficult for me this last year. I prevailed and took excellent care of my FIL, giving him an extra 6 months of life after doctors only gave him 6 months to live. She is now a widow and still trying to prove she can do it all at 86 with poor health. I wish her well and am only cordial now. I refuse to speak to my SIL over her jealous actions and spiteful, hateful, back stabbing words about me in her texts to my husband. It caused friction between my husband and me. Our relationship weathered this storm and his mother is trying to get on my good side, his sister is still being a narcissistic witch.
