It was an absolute joy to work on this cover with all these wonderful people. Collaborations are often some of the most rewarding videos I ever have the opportunity to work on, and this was no exception! Jules, Sab, and Adriana’s parts were all filmed out in San Diego, CA during a visit Sab and I took down there! We had a lot of fun filming and doing silly things together (as I’m sure you saw in the video).
I’ve wanted to arrange Pollyanna for a while, but never had a perfect idea to represent the super-happy sentiments that this song has. While learning a few pop piano pieces to play at a graduation ceremony, I remembered “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire, and realized that would make a fantastic influence on this arrangement. If you’re at all familiar with September, you can probably hear a lot of similar mix elements and arrangement ideas in this particular video. And hey, what do you know, this video is coming out in September! Fun!
It’s my hope that this arrangement makes you feel happy and childlike in the same way that the Mother series does for me and so many others :)

Alright so Jules is definitely Ness here. Carlos is our intellectual Jeff without a doubt. After careful thought, I think Adri gets to be Paula. Why though? Why is Sab Poo? Because I guarantee she'll kick anyone's butt who wrongs her, and in this song she was a harmony, MIRRORING Adri's musical attacks. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

This is the most pure song in the universe. It's so full of child-like innocence and hope, a person that very stubbornly believes in miracles, superstitions, and fantasies and will not allow anyone to change their mind about it. I love it so much, it's like it tells you to still cling to your child-self and to never forget how wonderful and dreamy life can be, despite everyone trying to bring you down to reality. This is just perfectly timed with Chuggaaconroy replaying EarthBound and NicoB finishing Mother 3, and it’s really the best Mother song anyone could choose out of the entire soundtrack to make an arrangement of...that is, if they could only choose one song. And you blew us all out of the water. Carlos, your seemingly nigh-omnipotent musical talent (from my point of view, at least) strikes once again, and gets straight to the heart with this. Picking September as an inspiration was a really great idea, it captures simple joys really well. I’m awed by how you can coordinate all these elements together into these arrangements time and time again and still keep topping yourself. And, well, as Jules already said, COWBELL HERO. With the less appreciated TAMBOURINE HERO to come on top of that. And really, you just come off as so happy doing those things, and it makes me smile. Jules, your guitar was probably the best choice Carlos could make to fill the melodic instrument for most of the instrumental breaks in this song, barring that big one near the end and the one that builds up to the last few words. And you did it so excellently. Never thought an electric guitar could give me a sense of wholesome happiness before. Thank you. Adriana. I don’t think Carlos could have come to anyone else for this, and your performance here demonstrates the exact reason why. Your voice and Pollyanna just..fit together. And really, you blew it out of the park with this. Your on-camera performance was great as well, and I could tell you were having a lot of fun with it. Sab, you, on the other hand, demonstrate how important backing vocals are while doing them amazingly. It really isn’t Pollyanna without the oohs and aahs. Really, I appreciate every bit of work you put into this. I’ll have to check out your channel now, you’re the only one of this quartet I didn’t know of beforehand. ...so yeah. tl;dr, everyone did amazing at what they did and I’m just awed and I’m definitely buying this when it gets on iTunes.

Honestly despite mother 3 being my favorite of the trio, earthbound will forever be special to me. I recently beat it again and got the urge to listen to this and honestly the more I watch, I always see something new that catches my eye. This cover is still amazing to this day! (This is also the cover that introduced me to Sab and Insane so honestly it’s even better for me because I love both works!)
