I am 41 years old and I grew up with a crack addicted, alcoholic mother and there are certain memories that randomly resurface that I still fight to suppress because they are just too traumatizing to relive. The fact that this young man can speak about his experiences with such clarity and peace is absolutely inspiring. May the peace and strength of the Lord be upon you brother. 🙏🏾🕊️💙

This just broke my heart to pieces. I remember when my children were young and I couldn’t afford to give them a Christmas and I cried so hard, feeling like a complete failure. I realize now that I cried because I didn’t even want my children to feel disappointed. How could a mother impose such evil on her children? It’s mind-boggling 😢

His forgiveness is definitely appreciated but I don't even think he understands how much that freed him from anger and hurt. This was heart breaking to hear but his strength showed through!! His vulnerability and willingness to weep when he needed to shows so much to others dealing with pain. As always Chris Styles conducted a great interview where you create a safe space and listen as well as ask questions. I also love how Chris shows where he connects dots in someones story as well as learn from them.

Man I cried watching this.. it hit different trying to love a man like this through trauma I pray he is able to receive love and he is loved well. My kids father experienced a similar situation and he’s a sociopath and narcissist. I understand why because he just was never taught how to just be a basic normal human being in society, it’s like he lives his life as an adult based off things he’s seen on tv.. I had to teach him how to actually bathe himself correctly little things you learn growing up he just didn’t have so he always fends for himself first always thinks of himself first and I know it’s not even on purpose so I still help him but we could not be together, he took me through so much just trying to love and care for him 😢

This comment is so deep. It reaches me fully because i completely get what you mean. I’ve dealt with someone from a similar status and it bothers me how much he thinks of himself and his survival as an adult but the reason why he’s that way makes me want to help him and I do. I feel like he will never see life the way that I do.

Home was never a safe place for him growing up. Maybe when he was older subconsciously he didnt go home because of that fact. My son is going on 8 months and before having him I couldn't imagine anyone hurting a child like that. Since having him it's hard to even hear and see stories like this, when I do I could just rage out. A baby, a child, his laughter, the most precious thing I've ever experienced as a mother and as a person.. I could never imagine what goes on in someone's head to treat a child like that let alone their own. But something that sticks out to me is how clearly mentally unfit she was, she didn't even have the sense to properly dispose of the body. Any logical person would know theyre gonna get caught as soon as that smell comes creeping and it tells me shes either just so high she wasnt thinking or she wasn't born with the mental capacity to think that critically. Maybe both. Maybe just so emotionally and mentally checked out either as a symptom of her own drug use or due to a personality disorder. Also how she managed to get emotional during the trial but you know she was sad for herself and nothing else.

This is definitely interesting content. These stories will hopefully help people look out for one another. Fight for children, even if they aren't your own. The schools failed these children, the hospitals, social workers who should have been on this mother's track. She had a history of abuse...too many people failed these children. It would be beneficial if the interviewer would take journalism courses. It's imperative to ask open-ended questions, not guess what the interviewee is going to say and allot time...quiet time..to enable the individual to think and express freely and at their pace. It was very silly to ask a man who was abused as a child " why would stay out, when he has a place to go". The organism does what an organism knows. It would also be helpful to research of children who are survivor's. There are so many issues he is probably battling with-ptsd would be on my short list. I hope these individuals get help. Therapy is crucial to process their feelings and heal. It's nit as simple as providing him with food and shelter. 🙏

Let alone your own children!! 🤬🤬 I wish sometimes they would let us mothers that love our kids wholeheartedly get a half hour with these monsters. Then just bury them in unmarked graves. Trust me nobody would miss them and one less person the State has to provide for!! Jaik is toooooo good for people like this egg donar. No I will not give her the mother title, being a Mother is a badge of honor that is supposed yo be taking with stride, honor, compassion, love and respect. This is sick and sad, young man I really hope you know that you are the chosen one for a reason. I am sorry you had to endure such a tragic childhood. May the rest of your life be filled with love in abundance. You are special and do not ever forget that. As a mother of 2 adult children and 2 minor children, I want to hug his hurt away so badly. There is a pain in his heart that will be there until he leaves this life. No child on this earth should ever not know love or never experience a mother's safety and love. I'm actually pissed that he had to carry this burden.

It was hard to explain cuz u don’t wanna lie or feel insensitive. He def blames himself by thinking “damn did I eat too much of the onion and she ain’t get enough? Did I drink too much of the toilet water and she ain’t get enough?” I knew he was gone say that b4 he even said it. May Allah protect him nd fill him with the precious gift of luv and happiness.

Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yes, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. God hasn’t forgot what was done to you or what you are carrying to this very day! I don’t know if you believe or not but whoever wronged you will be held accountable I pray you can forgive your mother and find comfort that God ultimately already has judgement on her life all you can do is ask for mercy for her.

I get what u mean. A person who does that to their children probably dont even have contact with their family or invite them over. Not everyone grows up with aunts & uncles or grandparents in their life. The family is not to blame, the person who did it is.

Yea, didn’t mean it like that. I always say it before every episode and sometimes I have to self edit certain phrases out. This is the most powerful and realistic content I’ve seen on RU-vid especially for the black community and it’s crazy you don’t have millions of subscribers like that underbelly channel because you don’t exploit you respect these people and it’s almost like watching a therapy session with a therapist you all the right questions and show so much compassion but of course RU-vid isn’t going to promote you like you should be because you’re not the right skin color and you’re not with the gimmicks and exploiting, you and all your guests are amazingly strong and beautiful people even though they have seen and been through the ugliness life can be. A lot of us have a a story or testimony but I see this and thank god i didn’t have to go through what they did even I had hard and traumatic experiences someone else is always going through more smh

Dontae, if you ever see this I would like you to know something. First, sometimes we are not able to verbalize our thoughts. Other times, there’s no need too, our actions speak for us. You said you regret never telling your sister you loved her. Some thing tells me, she knew (knows). 😇 You showed her every time you turned your hell, into a playground and played with her. Every time you shared the little food you two were given. Every time you let her fall asleep in your arms, given her some type of peace. Every time you put her thoughts and needs before your own. And today, you still show her by sharing you alls story, or by smiling when you say her name. Please keep doing the remarkable work you have done to grow and persevere. You are a true living reflection of the thought “one’s past can’t/don’t define their future”! Great job, and I wish you nothing but the best!🙏🏽🩵
