At least she might have a level of protection. Mother dearest isn't going to kill her daughters girlfriend. Be a sure way to turn her daughter against her.
This is by far one of the best shows on tv right now. It's not overdone in any sort of cliche way like you see in other series nowadays. The writing and acting make you go throught so many emotions throughtout the episode; can't wait for season 2.
xaponix yeah Ikr, it was definitely sad to see her self-sacrificing. I really wish they could’ve fixed that in the new season like another witch who’s path was to help Alder could take tally spot & Bring tally back to her younger, stronger self.
I don't think she was crying out of sadness for Tally. I think it was just an emotional response to the character and the sacrifice she was going to make.
@@lovercross While that could be a somewhat ideal option, I think Tally will still be around, but with them saying she's going to start remembering Alder's memories, I think she'll become something of a mole for the resistance. I'm not sure if Alder survives the next season or if a new general will need to be named, but things be a changing for sure!
This is the best show ever. I’ve never cried so much when watching a show. I cried so much when Tally became one of Alders biddies and when Raelle got stabbed. I knew Raelle’s mom was alive but the look on Scylla’s face was everything. Can’t wait for season 2
Where do you want the relationship to go? Serious question, not hating. Do you see them reuniting and being happy, or will it be an on again, off again type thing?
I cannot believe this ends with still so many unanswered questions. So happy we get a season 2!!! Abigail and Raelle moment was beautiful and Tally's sacrifice was the most wth moment but she was heartbreaking when the helicopter left her unit there. I hope somehow they make Tally part of the unit again. This show is amazing. It is beautifully shot and the actresses are great. Sorry I had to laugh whent Eliott said Raelle had contact with a mushroom. Raelle has been so broken for a lot of time due to her mom's ''death'' and now with the heartbreak of the Scylla situation. I hope Raelle and Scylla build back their relationship and Raelle can mend her heart before she gets the other dilemma of her mom being still alive.
I wonder what more is Raelle’s mother than a fixer. Clearly she’s got more abilities than she’s led on because she’s leading the Spree and it’s so good because not even the Army know they have a leader. Does this mean the Collars have been these immensely under the radar family of witches these past three centuries? And I can’t wait to see Raebigail’s newfound ability flourish even more. Not even Alder knows what that was.
I am French and I saw the episode in vo so I did not understand a good part of the words. In this report with the actors, it is said that the A.D.N. of the mycellium is in Raelle and that the A.D.N. de Raelle is in the mycellium. Through the episode, we learn that Khalida's disease was created by the Camarilla. This disease has been absorbed by the mycellium. I think that at the end of the episode, the mycellium healed Raelle and Abigail and then protected them by surrounding them with these toxic mushrooms (linked to the absorbed disease) so that nobody reached them and guided them to a safe place.
this episode was especially beautifully made. the twists were so good and everyone performed so well. amalia and demetria's friendship transcends into their portrayal of their characters that it's not hard to appreciate and admire their character's dynamic. jessica's performance as tally is top-notch! abigail and raelle's growth and friendship are so beautiful to watch. this show is so good, i cannot wait for season 2!!
I totally agree with all u have said. This ending though sad was simply beautiful and all the actresses deserve an applaud for an amazing first season.
Thank you for explaining the origins of the Camarilla and their history! So it was them at the Bellweather wedding! They killed Charvel! I love how each character has evolved over the season and I couldn’t ask for a better cast.🖤
tbh, ratings are not everything anymore. Nielsen ratings are wholly inaccurate anyway. For shows aimed at younger audiences, social media presence is way way more important and that's why they got renewed.
That helicopter scene, bravo, just bravo. The fall of Abigail Raelle was completely unexpected RIGHT after Tally's sacrifice so when Tally screamed it was just and epic tear moment. This level of sisterhood has never EVEr been explored onscreen before I'm beyond glad they got renewed for S2.
So glad I found this show, more people need to hear about it, and soon they will. It deserves the recognition it's getting and so so much more. The finale wouldn't stop giving me goosebumps and tears, and that ending was one of the most shocking I've ever seen. So excited for season 2, we did it, and we'll keep on fighting.
This finale was really good, can’t wait for season 2. Motherland is probably one of the most original shows I’ve seen in the last couple of years. I need more
Well this episode left me speechless and all I wish is that they do something for Tally. I can't see her like that. And Sylla and Abigail OMG. Don't know what to say about those two. The way they ended the first season is perfect. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT 1 YEAR FOR ANOTHER SEASON?
I’m fairly certain that is the death Rhaelle is absorbing from those people she’s saving, in ep. 8 or 9 she said she always takes on the sickness of who she uses her *work* on. Which makes me think when Abigail joined hands to try and save her maybe all that sickness she took exploded and now is shielding them and also leaving a nasty fungus on the earth. I’m also, wondering what was the plot thread of Rhaelle touching that huge ice crystal thing in the necromancy house that affected her finger. We never got closure on that so perhaps that magic is working to keep them safe too. It was a refreshing twist to see Tally sacrifice like she did, I was wondering what was the point of showing us how Alder maintains her powers but that sudden twist of her dying and Tally having to step in was well placed. I also liked how Alder didn’t hide she went head on with her enemy and took the lead and used her powers to protect the whole. I don’t know that a season 2 can handle 2 evils (that might be a bit much) unless they do 15 episodes to flesh it out. So much to cover, going back to the Salem days to see background, the Spree. Might be too much but we’ll see how they make it work. Nice call back that the vocal cords from all those Bellweathers that were killed were used to make those versions on their necks to twist the witch magic into evil magic. I was wondering how all this seemingly random strings would be brought together. It was pretty well done, maybe a little more should have been done to make the connections for those not keeping tabs like me but overall exciting to see what comes next!
So the wired wall necro thing was how Raelle absorbed it I’m pretty sure in one clip it showed the wall getting that death sickness thing so that is how she didn’t die when she “consumed” it
Yea they explained that in this vid tho. It was the fungas she touched in fort Salem that caused that. Which is gonna be a new form of magic they will explore in season 2.
Man... I love this show. It has made me cry multiple times, not even the big shows can manage to do that 6 seasons in, let alone the 1st season! It's so well written, the effects are awesome, the characters are badass, the story is engaging. Everything is just amazing about this show. To the people involved in this show and Feeform, THANK YOU!
same. i had a hunch it was her since the wedding. why else would they want raelle specifically. and they never made orders to hurt her. so to me it had to be her mom.
I’m kinda worried that her mom wants to hurt her... why else would she not explain to Scylla who made it obvious that she loved her and didn’t want to see her hurt when they were communicating at the wedding? I’m hoping I’m wrong cause I love their relationship
The finale was INSANE! I have so many questions! OMG I can still feel my heart pounding in my chest. What a roller coaster of an episode. Also that plot twist that we all saw coming at the end - HOLY CRAP! I can't believe we have to possibly wait until next year for season 2 what with the current situation and all but I'm eternally grateful we're getting another season.
what an ending, season 1 seems like an introduction to motherland and there were a lot of moments where I didn't understand why or what it is. I'm super glad we got season 2, and got more excited after i read eliot's interview about what going to come in season 2.
At first I was so hesitant to watch this show, spent weeks seeing its posters and told myself "nah". But then once I started watching, I couldn't stop! Each episode got me at the edge of my seat, so intriguing. So glad they got renewed, congrats!
The finale blew my mind from minute 1. I can't wait for the second season to air. Damn, please don't kill my sunshine Tally as a Biddy T_T I was very proud of her for taking that brave step for what she believes but I cried so much. However, I really want to explore her new conection with Alder, as well as the Abigail and Raelle duo (although Unit Bellweather will always be a trio!!!!). Also, I bet Scylla is now playing double agent partnered with Anacostia, remember my words. I DID NOT expect what happened to Raelle's mom although I did think from episode 1 it was so weird for her to throw Petra under the bus so blatantly in her letters to Raelle. And lastly, I hope Raylla can fix their relationship because if not my heart is going to break forever T_T Call me crazy but I kinda want to see the Army and the Spree joining forces against the Camarilla and watch how that would impact the balance between humans and witches. Because in every story of witches and other supernatural beings, the supernatural ones might have some black sheep among them but humans are always so fucking selfish and nasty towards them even when they're helping them and their own kind are the ones hurting the super natural that part of me can't help siding with those of the supernatural that want to submit and kill humans. It's such a grey area. EDIT: I want so many things to happen the next season I'll need like 10 more (pretty please).
I saw Raelle's mum being the leader of the spree from the first episode, but I was not sure if Scylla knew ( but now she clearly does and just found out). I hope Tally does not stay a biddy and rejoins the unit ( the powerful three). The show is amazing and I am so glad that they renewed it for a season two. I wish there were more episodes :) Congrats to the cast, crew and everyone involved in making the show
Absolutely amazing first season!! Loved the cast and the plot twists. Never gonna forgive Eliot for ripping my heart out when Raelle was stabbed though...
Incredible, this chapter exceeded my expectations, it was a great closure for the season, I will miss seeing the unit, but I hope that somehow Tally continue in the unit, it would not be the same without it, the three of them complement each other
my heart broke when tally gave her youth to alder😭.anacostia did the right thing after all😊.willa(raelles mother)is the head of the spree.raelle and abigail would literally die for each other, which makes me ship them in the future❤️They have some crazy gift that I can’t wait to learn more about 😍.overall this finale left me speechless.
We don’t know she’s the leader the spree was around way before her mom her mom was fighting the spree with Petra so while she’s with the spree she’s no leader the admit the spree has no leader .
This is such a well written story. Amazing actresses and production. 💕 That's why I am not worried much about everyone else's story after this. BUT the only character I am worrying about is TALLY. I hope she wouldn't stay as a biddie. 😕 Love this show so much 💕
So Scylla will also go through that pain which Raelle did after Scylla went missing as no one knows what happened to Raelle and Abigail? Also the bellweather is the best😍 Amazing sisters!
This show is so amazing and authentic. I love the angle of the story of witches and the incorporation of them in society and not as the usual hiding doing spells kinda thing. They are soldiers!! The actors and great!! Gosh I felt it when Tally decided to join Alder to save them. That was hard to see. 😢
I am ready for season 2!!! I had a feeling the spree had a connection to Raelle's mom. I honestly been wondering if Raelle's mom is part Camarilla because Raelle is sooo powerful. Tally's sacrifice and Scylla finding out the truth about her boss was definitely jaw dropping. I can't forget my girl Anacostia, she finally opened up just a little, besides Raelle's mom and Salem days, I really want to know more about Anacostia, I have a feeling her character has layers and a background that's important. I'm already ready for the next season
I think you didn't understand what the Camarila are. They are not powerful. They're humans using stolen Witches vocal cords to mimic some of their most basic powers. Raelle's Mom cannot be part Camarilla. She could be a member of the Camarilla but they hate witches and she is a witch so no can do.
the creators of this show definitely deserve to have at their disposal all the seasons that are needed to finish the story and i hope that it doesn't get cancelled too early . this was a great way to start telling a story, guys! this first season was very good. the writing is amazing, the characters are very interesting and i love all of them. and it's rare for me to say this about characters in a tv show, because there's usually someone i don't like. but in this show they are well written, and the actors are really good. congrats. this show has great potential!
Nice ending to the season! So many final details to bring forth multiple future plots. We have Tally with an unknown destiny. Raelle and Abigail are doing some weird witchcraft apparently unknown even by the longest living witch (that we know of), General Alder. Scylla has now met her Boss, and it's Raelle's MOTHER!? I gotta say, I thought that part was a bit too far out of the box thinking, but after seeing it a few more times and thinking about it, it could open up many options for further growth and development with Raelle and her bloodline. I wonder if there will be split stories for any of the characters that made it into War college, too. I look forward, excited and faithful for this new series.
Motherland is really good. It goes against what I expect would happen and any problems the story it could face, it beats. Very interesting. I hope it gets more attention. Though, I hope they really build on the world they are in. I barely know much about what's going on outside of from the main characters.
wow what an exciting episode that ending is the best of all I don't think I can wait until the next year. I had the feeling that I was some relative of Raelle I love it I think I was speechless Scylla's face in the end the incredible Raelle's mom I already want to see season 2 the best series I love
This is the best show, it build up a lot of emotion turns you up and on,every twist is so surprising. Tally....NO want her to get back to the unit they are strong and beautiful together. Abigail and Raelle a partner power,.I cried watching previous episode's so deep touching your heart...the actors were so great❤️. Helicopter's scene: Tally being one Alder's biddies leaving her unit behind😭. WOW...so surprising indeed, I need a rescuer for all of them.
😱😱😱😱 this was my face the entire ep. I didn’t know I was holding my breath when Tally turned and Raelle got stabbed . Seeing Scylla’s reaction when she met Raelle’s mom, Its so funny 😆, can anybody let me know when the Ss 2 will come out ? I can’t wait
OMG!!! This show is by far one of the best things I've ever seen. Tally... the ovaries in this woman known no limits. Raelle and Abigail I just love them all. I'm so excited for next season.
My jaw is on the floor. I just hope Tally doesnt stay old cause she has so much power and skill especially with her unit and shes a great character as an individual. Her growth has been beautiful and as we see once you become a Biddy you kind of lose that individuality. Plus I wanna see her with Gerit😭
My hearts broken for Tally :( she's my fave character on the show. Raelle and Abigail have some plot armour for S2 as there's a story to what happened at the end there, but idk how Tally is going to be ok after what happened. So happy we get a S2, what a show
Omg I love this show so much. Best show ever. The finale has me shook. I really wish Tally wasnt linked with Alder though because I would love to see her with the unit still and growing on her own. But I'm excited and curious to see where this will all lead.
This show is really one of the best out there at the moment! That ending broke my heart. I hope Tally won't stay like this for the whole new season. Also this deserves at least 4 seasons!
ughhhhhh I can't wait for season 2!!!!! seriously tried putting of the finale til season 2 release but I couldn't ..... wow....what a fucking awesome finale though seriously .. I don't know how to feel about the spree or the US military ... seems like they got twisted people all over the place .... I really think Alder is a force of good and that Abigails mother is def not on the good guy side ... TAlly omfg .. i actually love all three of them equally ...usually I have a fave but I can't between the three of them they are the iconic 3 witches ...
I don't think either Alder or Raelle's Mom is a force of good. They're just witches who lived in fear and are both reacting to the same situation with opposite forces. Alder believes the only way forward is for humans not to fear Witches anymore. The Spree believes the only way forward is for the humans to fear all Witches so that Witches will have no choice but to join the Spree and seize power.
Raelle's Mom is not the leader of the Spree. She is just the leader of a cell, possibly just a dozen people from the looks of it. The Spree is leaderless. Anacostia explains it in episode 1. Raelle is powerful but her mother is just a regular healer, not much to her. However, Raelle, Abigail and Tally are now the last of their lines, which I think might make them more powerful.
I'd let Alder died tbh, the flavours of hubris and authocracy that emanate off her. But the writers will put more nuances to her character. Bet. Imma need 5 seasons. This show has a potential for a long T.V. franchise, Stargate style. In the U.S. alone witchcraft folklore and relationship with non-witches differ from state to state. Depending which Original indigenous culture was there, which European invaded, which African Kingdoms enslaved Africans were kidnappedand brought, then you add descendants of indentured Irish, Chinese workers. Plus Latinos and the ever moving boarder throughout U.S. formation. There's material to tap into and some serious dystopias to explore. I, for one, is intrigued. Solid effort, brilliant work to the team. Especially the Camera work and Sound design. You don't often feel that quality in mainstream T.V. Also Adam McKay & Will Ferrell? How Random!
Alder is already a very complex and nuanced character. I don't know where you see hubris or autocracy. She's the leader of an army of slaves and she's depending on the good will of the President to stay a slave. She has no life but that life and she only prolongs it to keep her word about Witches serving the US. I don't see how that makes her autocratic. In fact, if she had wanted to seize power, she could have probably done so many times but she didn't.
Oh and Will Ferrell actually produces a lot of tv these days. He also produced Dead to Me, another show about complex female characters and sisterhood so I guess he is interested in good shows.
@@BadFluffy if ones take unilateral decisions, even if they're good decision, it is authocracy, by definition. I'm sure there's more to her than we've seen so far and I can't wait to see what they bring next season, especially with Raelle mom's reveal. Im ready for the flashbacks from different era.
@@BadFluffy im more familiar with Ferrell-McKay producing movies, or Web content like Funny or Die. A good surprise to see them producing endearing and solid shows like that.
