1. Remove back cover.
2. Remove rear housing
3. Remove motherboard
4. Remove power & volume button
5. Install power & volume button
6. Install motherboard
7. Put back rear housing
8. Put back battery cover

I really just pulled it of with a pair of pliers and inserted the new one in. No need to disassemble the phone just to push the buttons from the inside-out.

Yes, Well in my case the old buttons were already fallen out long time ago, so disassembling wasn't required. I just pushed the new buttons in and It started working perfectly.

You do not need to remove the motherboard - you can swap the buttons out easily with the motherboard in place. Much less chance of anything going wrong!

Good video... but I managed to press out the buttons without removing the motherboard. And reading below, I could have probably just pulled the broken one out with pliers and pushed the new one in!

I just bought a new button for my G4 Plus, but couldn't find a t3 torx. Out of interest I wondered if it would fit anyway, and amazingly it pushed straight in from the outside. The fact it went in so easily is probably the reason why the last one fell out in the first place.

Wit Rigs hello! i dropped my Moto X style today (bamboo version is bloody slippery) and now the volume rockers are stuck. the only options are or volume max, or no sound. is there a way to fix it with out tearing down the phone and also, what causes it to stuck? Yes, the new button can be simply pushed in, but I'm afraid the worn button part, the broken piece would left inside the phone and affect the daily use, so I think it would be better to open the phone and replace :-)

Just pull your broken button using needle or something...and You can fix a new button by just pushing that button in its place........ I did the same , it wont take more than 30 secs

If your worn button was broken and fell off, you can just push the new button in, however there would be some tiny little plastic left inside the phone, so I think it's better to open the back cover and back frame to install the new one.

Mine fell out at Heathrow Airport just before I boarded the plane. Couldnt turn phone off or change the data settings. I could see mega phone charges coming. Big search and found button in the carpet. Connectors had snapped so I secured button with Sellotape...Phew relief.,,Moral is, if in doubt .....Replace it... You may need to follow the vid as opposed to just fitting from the outside if bits have snapped off and remain in te phone to obstruct button operation.

Hi, here is the answer for that 1. G4's side buttons compatible with G4 Plus. 2. Yes you can just push the new one back in, the new would not falling out because there's new bracket which hold them tight.

same situation with my gf's phone after browsing several forums looking for an answer, trying to access it via adb to reboot it from a pc and failing miserably (for not being IT savvy at all), trying to snap it out with a pair of hair tweezers and a piece of wire, watching this tutorial while sweating bullets, comparing the cost and risk of DIYing it to the cost of sending it to a repair station (which could be really expensive down here in Argentina), THIS was the ultimate solution to our problem: razorbalde the fuck out of it and turn it on with a toothpick thanks man that's the kind of DIY we needed

If the button has already come out you can just push a new one in, but please make sure you aim at the position, cause there're two rubber that hold tight the button and they are very easy to be broken. so be careful :)

Dont take the screwed back off your phone unless absolutely necessary. I did and it was completely unnecessary. I put everything back together and pushed in the tiny volume button and it was as easy as that. Unscrewing all those screws will mean you wont be able to trade it in as its obvious its been opened. You may well lose some of those tiny screws and for some reason I now have a very hot area at the top of the phone Moral of the story......just push in your replacement button....its no hassle at all.

The page is secure even if the firefox lock isn't green, and the password you set for register will be double encryption, nobody could break it (I mean ordinary people). And firefox lock will only be green when the website you visited is start with "https"

Did you drop the phone or get water inside before? If no, you can try open the back cover and check whether the top side of back frame is loosen, that could lead to headphone jack and loudspeaker no sound.
