This video is the completion of a project phase 1 of a Cafe Racer shed build based on a Moto Guzzi Griso. Changing a sports cruiser into a Cafe Bruiser. Episode 26
Human Torque Wrench ! Loving that and fair play, she looks and sounds great and so pleased to see her on the road where she belongs. Really looking forward to getting over and seeing her in the flesh but just a great job all round, congratulations...
I love the original look of the griso and the 100+ years of history personally.. On mine i changed only a few basics, the bars, exhaust, grips levers, and indicators to name a few but the rest is true moto guzzi and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks Chris, I’m old too and I’ve just bought more adjustable clip ons as I’m feeling it a bit too! Having starting problems but not an issue with this awful weather but need a new battery I think. May start again and get a video out in the new year. Have a good Christmas 👍
You have made a brilliant bike into a stunning one I love the colour of the rocker covers Please continue to post riding videos Look forward to phase 2 Did you know there is a 1400 cc kit for the Griso Thanks for all your hard work👍
Thanks Buddy, I chuffed with results so far, got a list developing for phase 2. Been out today to the 1066, Veterans Day at the cafe, respect to those guys who give and have given their best for the country. Getting a few interested looks as I ride but wow it’s very very loud! I don’t want to scare local children so waiting for a dB killer from the US. I may well do an exhaust comparison with, without and the carbon one in the interim. Wow, 1400? I think 1200 is prob enough for a cafe racer 😂. If I was Craig Rodsmith, I’d prob remove the air box and replace it with a Turbo 🤣🤣
Just a pedantic concern, sir. Your rear no. plate light. Would it not have been better to mount the illumination on top shining down? I fear it may be considered that your showing white light to the right and at the rear, instead of the regs to the front? 👐🏻
Well, fortunately the govt and police are too busy dealing with COVID and riots and budget cuts and general law breakers etc. Also the rear number plate has to be illuminated which it is and I don’t believe that it states anywhere that it has to be illuminated from above. Many vehicles are illuminated from both sides not above. I believe that it should be at the most rear of the vehicle but even trucks they are often underneath the tail. It passed an MOT.... good enough for me 👌
Your quality fabrication has made your Griso look more compact and muscly, especially with that stubby silencer. No mean feat for such a long bike, although perhaps you're a tall fella which would also help in this respect? Great work which I can only aspire to, thanks! Do you ever get over to the Custom Cafe on the A259 for Friday Bike Night? I'd love to see the Griso up close 😛
Thanks Matt, yes it’s certainly coming together and still a fab ride! Yes I’ve been to the custom cafe on numerous Sunday mornings for breakfast , I wasn’t aware there was a Friday bike night, I will be there when the days get longer as I don’t enjoy night riding so much now . 👍
Probably, exhaust, rear end, seat, headlamp, frame, handlebars, indicators etc all helped. I haven’t kept a record but significant I would think, I’d like to remove the air box next too
Thanks buddy, it does turn heads as not obvious what it as at first sight and the engine is a ‘right lump’ and is great to ride. Exhaust sound is fab, especially on deceleration! Your talking about £4-5k for a 1200 4V Griso depending on miles and condition and I’ve spent approx. £900 on all mods thus far not including bike lift and tools
Do you mean the engine cowlings with the red eagles on them? If so, i fabricated them from cardboard templates in glass fibre. Previous episodes cover that in detail. Thanks, they provide a much slimmer and less cruiser / more cafe racer look.
