"The eccentric bolt should be placed so that when the shaft is moved slightly to right or left it can be felt that the two pawls are an equal distance away from the pins on the change drum, when the splined shaft is at rest. This procedure should be carried out with the gearbox in the neutral position". This is from Haynes Moto Guzzi 750,850&1000 V-twins Owners Workshop Manual. I am currently replacing a broken centralizer spring on the gearchange selector on a 1972 V7 Sport and feel that the flange on the eccenter hardly holds one of the ends of the spring. I am also changing the selector drum to the more ordinary 1´st gear down instead of the original 1´st up as original. You produce nice and interesting videos on this gearboxes. Thanks!
@@MrBillgiles That would be very much appreciated . The original spring (which is broken in exaktly same place as yours) was 2 winds and the newer are 3 winds. It fits allright but one end is very high up on the eccenter. There is no shim in this 5 gears gearbox under the gearselector as in yours but thats also an option if enough clearance is under the shift drum. I can only figure out one way to install the spring but the videolink would be very helpful!
@@tomasbergstrom499 here it is. I wish this guy had done more videos. I never got mine completely to my satisfaction. best of luck. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rT6VAm0jJiY.html
I have no idea how you would set up that adjuster other than dry building and running through the gears marking each start point of the pin. Very laborious I know but its all I could think of. Happy New Year.
