You bike reviewers are so funny ! My dad toured this country on a Honda 450 Hawk with my mom on the back in the 70's.

Everyone is being so negative about this review! It's fine. I watch several videos about whatever bike I'm interested in, and I learn a little bit from each one. I'd like to see those people who are complaining do a review.

what a great bike!! its awesome that we have such authentic and different options like this bike opposed to the generic trends that companies keep chasing. You end up with 10 bikes in each category that are all the same with a different badge.

Love my Guzzi V7. Moved down from a Speed Triple R and don't miss it much. The Guzzi is perfect as a daily run about bike, especially for the city.

That's because the Speed Triple R is a monster of a bike without jumping into a super sport haha. I've never ridden a supersport that punches you in gut like a Speed Triple though.

I have this EXACT 2018 Moto Guzzi V7iii Stone! It's my 1st motorcycle and I love it! My rear shocks, saddle, and a few more things the 1st owner meticulously installed are aftermarket. It's a very quirky machine, but hey... I'm a New Yorker who owned a Saab!

Its fun watching someone ride in a familiar territory. I was just riding my motorcycle on 28 the other day.

I like the olive drab color on your test bike. I have a '13 V7 Stone & love it. Still fully analog with no electronics & missing 6th gear but I ride it anywhere & everywhere! My huge tank allows me to wander without worry while the Ducati Scramblers, Triumph Bonnevilles, and everything else look start looking for fuel stops just as my Guzzi is having fun. Range is one of the great things about this bike...
@bladerunner_92

I've got the 2016 V7 II stone and it IS entertaining. Always gets the eyeballs at bike night. Wish they could figure how to make self-canceling turn signals. Shifts are buttery smooth. (I do like the V9s for their gear indicators.) One major beef: needs a full minute of warm-up before you're good to go. Good review, Flyer.
@thea8164
@thea8164 6 лет назад
A remap should fix Your beef. It did for my 2017 V7 I at least.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 5 лет назад
All Guzzis like a good warm up or the throttle fluffs. I would not say mine takes a whole minute but it is not start up and go, the engine will die.The ECU 'learns' from the Lambda sensors which write an adjustment table (two, one 'hot', one 'cold'). It can learn bad habits. Pulling the main fuse or disconnecting the battery wipes the tables so it can start over. Disconnecting the Lambda sensors stops them weakening the mix below 4000. If you do that (or remove and blank them) you should wipe the tables as above.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 5 лет назад
If your V7 has been serviced by the dealer it ought as a matter of course have had the map updated to the latest version, to improve response rather than performance; there are some issues with very slow speed running not being smooth. The engine spins up in a sprightly manner, it doesn't really deserve remapping for extra performance. What it lacks in horses it makes up in torque which it develops from 2000 all the way through to the rev limiter at 7200

The V7 has touring accessories available from Moto Guzzi. Just think about how cool it would be to ride the top 100 motorcycle roads on a V7 Moto Guzzi instead of a V-Strom. I currently have a 2010 V7 Café Classic and it is too sporty for distance riding. Thinking about replacing my Yamaha FZ07 with a V7 Stone or Special to do some truck touring with. Haul it in the truck to where the fun roads are, set up camp, and go ride.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 5 лет назад
Doesn't that rather defeat the point of touring by motorcycle? That's touring by pickup trunk. You might as well convert a covered van to a camper with a few more luxuries (like cooking and bed) and take a small bike aboard. But you're right that a caff racer (or sports bike) is a short dash machine, not for long distance.

The clutch was the one thing I noticed test riding one the other week. Bit of work and focus needed in slow moving traffic to not stall it. That said, I think you’d get used to it. Great bike.

It is hard to believe a bike reviewer would not know Moto Guzzi is shaft drive. I think I want a base model V7III fo myself.

I like the Guzzi however am concerned about long term reliability. I wonder if any V7 owners who have racked up a few miles have any feedback? Also, being 183cm (6.0 tall) and 100 kilos, I wonder if I'm too big?

Thanks for test and review. I own also a vstrom suzuki 650. And I am thinking of replacing it with this beauty. Anyone who owns the V7 could please tell me about the v engine if during summer it overheats and you feel the heat on you legs. Also about the reliability of v7 and possible problems, if any... Thanks

Aris Pi I traded my V strom in for a V7 carbon. I love the bike. No trouble with over heating. Plus in winter I warm my hands up on the cylinder heads. The guzzi isn’t as refined or smooth as the v strom but it isn’t as boring as the v strom. And it looks a lot better.

You can ride whatever bike you like long distances. You don't need an adventure bike for that.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 5 лет назад
Questionable logic, if you want to ride long distances by road you want a tourer or road bike. If you want to ride across Mongolia then you want an adventure/enduro bike, or an Enfield Bullet because that is what they use for bike tours there. For long distance by road one wants a relaxed comfortable riding position, and road tyres.

Depends, are you talking about looks or some other criteria? I think the Bonnie is probably the most authentic looking -- even though it isn't much like the old ones otherwise.

Why would anybody want to be redlineing this particular bike? you're on the bike, it's a Guzzi and you're not sure if it's shaft drive . what kind of BS is that?
@robertbrandywine
@robertbrandywine 7 лет назад
At times, I want to redline every bike. Why not?
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 6 лет назад
It's got 6 miles on the clock, it's brand new, and Guzzi won't let you use full revs until after first service when the rev limiter moves up. Before that you'll get all sorts of flashing red lights, not to mention hurting the new engine. After that Guzzi engines do like being driven quite hard, or just cruising along at 2000rpm.

Well, what can I say, but yes I'm going to add another to the list of negative reactions. A number of different ways to be patronising about a bike there, whilst simultaneously looking inept and clumsy. Great job...

Stop pulling the clutch in so far. I only use as much as I need. Of course each bike is different in that regard. Seacoast is such a great dealership.

It feels about right for a mid-size naked. I'm 6'-3" tall but it fit me pretty well. Little more legroom would have been nice but that's true of almost any bike I ride.
