I have an original patina 74 Sport drum-brake model. Lovely little thing. Have to row it along through that 6 speed box like the two-stroke RD350 of the same era.
Whilst, on paper, they aren’t particularly powerful, their light weight and phenomenal handling gives them a startling advantage in the twisties. I followed my mate on his 3 1/2, down a very twisty road. I was on my Moto Guzzi LeMans 3. I did keep up on the corners. But it was hard work on a LeMans. I was soaked with sweat when we stopped. He was as cool as a cucumber!
What a lovely sounding machine! If you're interested there's one for sale in east Sussex JWG motorcycles. It loox like a nice example but too small for me.
This model has always been an favourite of mine and if I’d been born a couple of years earlier I may well have bought one as for a time we had a dealer about a dozen miles from where I lived. Instead in 1982 when I graduated to a “big” bike I bought a Triumph Bonneville! Based on the reg I imagine your bike originally had a front drum brake, can you do a stoppie with the front double disc set-up ? 😂 Anyway I hope you ride your gorgeous bike plenty this summer (if we get one ☔️), it deserves to be ridden ! 🇬🇧
