I bought mine recently and love it. Fantastic device and features. I was surprised by the destop experience on TV, accomplished wirelessly. Works so well. Great battery life. Very fast, snappy. Too fast/responsive actually. Sometimes you have to be a bit slower with gestures. I was going to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max but didnt feel it was innovtive enough. Razr 40 is just the coolest phone. It comes with a protector case and charging cable too. And the box .... it had a smell of perfume. Whaaaaat!! Very nice smell. Interesting that Mororola would do this.
Thanks for the video. I'm not ready to get a new phone yet but plan on getting this one. I;m happy to read the comments buying it / enjoying it, I hope motorolla sticks to the budget foldable smartphones!
Had this phone for a little over a month now, and it's the best I've ever had! I love everything about this phone. Mine was $200 since I use Boost Mobile and kept my same phone number.
Sold! I just ordered one, because like michaelsweet said, I don't carry a handbag, I put things in my front pocket. If/when I have to carry something too thick, or too long, it gets taken out and set down ?somewhere? I put a store demo of this phone in my pocket, and it was smaller in every dimension than my wallet, so I did in fact invest in this phone. After the Z fold came out at $3K, I am very happy to get this phone for under $500. Thanks for posting this expert/knowlegable and informative review! UPDATE: I accidently broke my phone two weeks ago; my wedding ring banged the screen just wrong and damaged it. Motorola sent me a shipping label, they fixed it, and shipped it back to me at no cost; in fact they threw in a nice Turbo charger with cable in the bag. I'm satisfied that I went with Motorola and I feel they support their customers well.
I bought this phone on a whim two weeks ago. At our family Thanksgiving dinner, we took a family picture outside right at sunset and for my phone took the better pictures when compared to my siblings iPhone. However, like everything YMMV with the camera.
So I bought this phone 2 weeks ago and I felt it getting hot so I took it back because the battery was dying to quick so I got it traded and it works perfect doesn't get hot it was just a defective
Just to add, the display itself isn’t cheap, or something they tried to cut costs on. It’s the same screen on the plus, but with a lower refresh rate. Glass can’t bend, so all foldables use the same plastic. And on another note, DO NOT REMOVE OR ADD A SCREEN PROTECTOR. It voids the warranty. After the year of coverage is up, get iFixits kit for 30, it comes with the screen protector and alignment tools you won’t get elsewhere
Most current gen foldables actually use UTG (ultra-thin glass) for the displays, where Schott UTG is one of the main suppliers. But yeah, most, if not all, come with screen protectors pre-installed to support that uber thin glass.
I bought this phone two weeks ago on a BF deal £480 - absolute bargain. Currently on holiday using it everyday on hill walking. When you understand and use the settings, it takes excellent photos with non of the inconsistency that so many reviews mention. I have my DSLR with me and haven't used it once. I use the camera closed for landscape shots with either of the volume controls as the shutter button. Launch camera with double press of the power button. In this mode you are taking photos "blind" with no viewfinder but it's so easy to do when you get used to it. Stops you chimping and waiting till you get home to look at the photos is like proper photography. Images are excellent in all conditions and the Motorola processing and use of Google Photos is just as good (and often better) than my Samsung S23 and my previous iPhone 13 Mini. Battery life is incredibly good and I always get two days to a charge and I only charge to 85)90%.
No way, you get two days from a charge?! I have had mine for a few days and today is my best day so far (first few days weren't representative as whatapp got stuck in a backup loop) and I'm at 27% with normal use and it's 8.30pm, started the day at 6am 100%.
@@willhicks8769 it's amazing how you know more about my phone than me. I get two two days out of my Razr 40 and I only charge to 85/90%. I don't play games but I do take a lot of photos. I take all my photos with the phone closed and it uses very little battery that way. I have the phone set up to conserve as much battery as possible. The only thing I don't use it for is emails. I use my S23 for that. Other than that it's social media, WhatsApp etc - quite a lot and the occasional phone call. Also RU-vid Music a bit each day and podcasts. It's a 4200 ma battery so it should have a good battery life.
@@willhicks8769 drop the refresh rate and color saturation. Turn off bluetooth if you're not using it. Ensure all background apps that you dont need are stopped. Mine lasts 4 days with light use. I charged my phone to 100%, didnt use for 12+ hours and it had only dropped 5%. With moderate use it dropped to 75%. So I estimate 3 - 4 days before needing to charge again.
Ive had my Motorola RAZR 2023 for about a week now. So far its been a great device. Battery is great and the design is quality. Hing is strong and the phone has a wonderfully comfortable leather external design which grils very well keeping the phone from being suler slick and slippery which i cannot stand from a device. Highly recommend if your looking for a stylish phone that works seemlessly and very resposive. Good luck on your choice 💯
I moved to this from an Apple device as ive been wanting to try a flip design. nostalgia for the 90's/00's style. I love it, it fits snugly in my hand both open and closed. It looks great and the include case matches the colour peefectly. I dont think i will be going back to apple for some time.
I had mine going on 3 months and had to send it back to motorola. Pixels went out at the crease, shooting light streaks across my screen, and about 40% of my calls and texts don't ring. They took it back right away, now just waiting.....
Some carriers in US are offering this phone at amazing deals right now. Cricket Wireless is offering it at $199 with a new line or $299 if existing customers who are keeping their phone number.
Yup. At first i was skeptical and thought of canceling my order because my family complained how i kept getting cheap phones (apparently$300 is cheap but they are iphone users xD) So instead of getting a galaxy S23 FE out of the blue i decided to do more research and thank goodness for this review. Not only will ill be getting a decent upgrade but im saving money
Yeah but it still kinda sucks though cause use who are loyal existing customers should be getting the $200 price tag not the $300 and it is even more then that cause if you are upgrading you have the $25 upgrade fee plus the case and charger block so by the time everything is said and done you are close to $400 unlike the new users to cricket at the $300 mark….
@@saramcdonald1150 I agree that it's BS us loyal customers get charged more. We've had a family group account with them for the last 15 years so it pisses me off. But then I look at the price on Motorola and calm down lol 😁. Honestly I usually buy unlocked phones to get good trade-in deals etc, Cricket doesn't do trade-ins for existing customers either 😩. I'm glad I already have a 30 watt charging brick and I never buy Cricket's overpriced cases, I usually buy them from Amazon.
I am ready for a new phone and started looking around for a new one. I e used Motorola phones for years now. I see we can get it for 499.99 right now. The only question I have is..can you make and receive phone calls without opening the phone ? If so, this will be in my pocket. I've watched 10 videos and read many discussions on this phone and have yet to find out if closed phone calling/receiving is possible. Thank you for your video
See if your razr is magnetic bacause Mine sure was, and so is the replacement one they sent. Motorola Razr 2023 has a strong magnetic pull on it. It actually picked up my pen and some screws from my work desk. It was only a couple weeks old when I felt a slight burn on my ear and started to get a headache using it. Now I only use it on speaker. I believe these are dangerous, unless proven otherwise.
I just found out that this phone is useless if your a gig shopper there seems to be some kind of conflict with the shopper scanner . Really sucks that i have to return it.
Ordered a phone from Motorola almost a week ago and they tell me it is still in there facility, my brother ordered a phone from Google on Monday he already got it. Has anyone else had a problem with Motorola taking a long time to send something?
always check AUE before you buy any Android phone. Motorola provides only 2 years of updates for most of the phone but not sure for this one. so be careful. AUE is Auto Update End Date
Returned mine, compared to my three year old Pixel 5, the camera quality was pretty subpar. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. I questioned the durability of the phone.
Fortunately, phone cameras are pretty good these days. Motorola phone cameras have been a step behind the competition for years. I use my phone for work, it's nice being able to do it all in one device. Unfortunately, for me, the RAZR 2023 wasn't that device.
@@conspicuousrod4910 You should know by now that you shouldn't expect great cameras from a flip phone. Galaxy flip has worse camera than s23. It cannot be any different. You just can't fit a great camera in a phone that is 7mm thick, has 2 screens and 15% of entire volume taken up by the hinge. Especially in this price range. You can try Razr 40 ultra. It has better cameras (still not the best, but decent). I find the camera setup adequate for work related use and for everything else I have a DSLR.
I've noticed that my unit has a lot more creaks than it should. I had a flip 3 for a few months a year ago so maybe I'm used to the tight design that had. Other than the flexing I have no complaints besides camera but that has always been a weak point for Motorola
@@thejumpropeninja9820the hinge fine. I think it just creaks a little bit cause of the cost. I've haven't had it gone out yet and I accidentally flung it while opening it one handed. It does feel more durable than the flip 3 I had. Just more loose feeling
I found the flip not to be any kind of a good deal. Bad battery life. Audio out to Bluetooth really sucks. It's not lighter in weight than other phones. Cases make it a fat cube of a phone in your pocket. What's with the pre applied screen protector, can we trade it out? who knows. No matter what notifications you have on the small outside screen, You'll most likely have to open the phone anyway. Having to open a phone as many times I deal with the content is going to stress the fold in time, which is the point of failure for the phone and get really tired of doing after awhile. More work for the fold.
Had mine for over 6 months. The screen keeps going out, gets lines across the screen from pixels going out. I already sent it back, blah blah blah etc. etc. Ain't going to keep fixing the same problem over and over again. Waste of time energy and money.
BS. any small a mount of dust that goes in your flip metal will break your screen. I got mine a month ago.. and I already have a dead pixel line in the screen. Did NOTHING to the phone, hasn't been dropped or anything. The only explanation I have is dust went inside the hinge. CRAP PHONES if you ask me. This is the second of this type and they don't last a year. Just done with these fancy technology.. I'm going back to thick bricks for phones. Those lasted me years.
@@RK-um9tu oh yeah thats right cuz that ONE video that said the screen busted after a short while disappeared,....I forgot. oh and WHERE exactly is it selling well?.... 🙄
This phone has only been out for about two months what are you on? 😂 I’m sorry I meant what’s your definition of old and damn you speak for everyone now “no one wants this phone anymore”
I thought that phone, the razr 5, was from 2020? And this phone is the 2023 model, plus it's less than $500 brand new. I know there are better phones but I don't need the bleeding edge...
