Lol, true, but one thing that Suzuki have is a bike suited to a larger rider, I raced them for years because of that exact reason. They are softer all round though, as in the hardware, nuts and bolts, gears, and just in general.but I feel any person at a lower level than an A rider just can’t tell the difference between most of these bikes. Just my opinion. But yes they will be last next year😂😂 not too sure if this is true, but aren’t Suzuki, Kawasaki, and honda coming together as one to develop the electric bike for 2028?
Get what u like and make it urs. They all have their ups and downs. I got the 22 crf450 and I love it. Did gold valves. Thing is sweet. Rode the kawi and ktm before I made my purchase. I’m happy with it
I'm ridin /racin a '22 KTM for next 2yrs. I buy a new bike every 2yrs. My issue w/Honda is very little race support overall it seems. Can't support that . I'm huge MX fan!
@@Olsson229 Glad you like it ..it looks sweet ..but you might've liked a new KTM or Gas Gas/Husky MUCH better. Austria is on top by FAR in MX. Hands dwn. No comparison.
@@Davido50 u mean 2022.5/2023? Yeah, i think i would like it also. But gonna runt this honda for 2 years now and Who knows, mabye its a ktm in The garage in 2023
MXA is indeed the "GOAT" of magazines, testing, advice & articles. Best of best in my opinion👍. Been reading their mag since late 80s. Keep up the great work for us MX addicts! #KTM #Yamaha #Maxima
Best filming and editing by MXA, ever. The ultra short take @8.07- to -8:10 above G.H. hill is worth a million bucks! Too short for many to appreciate. Awesome video ! Thanks. 👍
Get a new bike! Nothing more fun. Both 2-stroke & 4-stroke are awesome. I own both. My newer machines tho are ALL 4-stroke ..they hold there value & romp all others @ my local track. -Ohio
4-strokes are great, but god help you once you start having engine problems. Once my RMZ450 started requiring frequent valve adjustments, the problems never stopped. I'm happily riding a TC125 now.
Guys I love your videos but you keep having the same problem in your edits, the sound level of the bikes and the music is way too high compared to the sound level of your voice, the result is a video that you have to always change the Volume. Just my 2 cents.
Sorry if its not working for you. All speakers and output are different on computer/cell phone/tv plus RU-vid compression. It is balanced when it leaves our hands to the best we can. Sometimes that varies on device. We will try to get it closer for you
I can attest to the bullet proof reliability of the Yamaha. I made a street-legal 2019 YZ450FX supermoto back in 2018 and still have yet to even check the valves or do a top end on my bike and ir rides better than it did new. All I did was change the oil every 8-10 hrs, air filter twice and clean/lube the chain. I haven't even had to adjust the chain! I rip the hell out of this bike on the streets and even rip it on the highway and I have not had a problem. It gets 42 MPG avg with all street riding. Yamaha is #1 to me, I love all of their bikes. I used to be a Honda fanboy.
Great analysis guys. I like how you break down what bike is best for "Vet, Pro, Working Class". Definitely gives more insight into the bikes pros and cons. Si, Christchurch, New Zealand.
4th and 6th in the other two shootouts that are out but MXA has the Husky not only the 450 winner but bike of the year. Crazy how they praise the lower ride and how well the suspension works and others say it doesn't work well at all. Oh well it's cool to get all the different opinions and decide for yourself
We don't do one day tests or one day shootouts. That is the major difference. A lot of media only get the bike one day and turn it in. We race all 7 of these bikes over a long period of time. We don't rush the shootout to be first either.
Why do you care about what bike wins a shootout anyways. Just because a bike wins a shootout doesn't mean it will fit your riding style. The whole point is to take the info about the characteristics of each bike in order to make an informed decision for YOU.
Cause if you notice they seem to out down Japan bikes. They also make it sound like the Yamaha is soooo big when other platforms did what I did measure across and there is no big difference it’s more visual cause of the air box on the Yamaha instead of a gas cap! Also look up wet weight the Honda is only 2 pounds lighter and same with Kawasaki there is only a pound or 2 difference between all jap bikes. Lol Yamaha won the shootout in other platforms. Also everyone I’ve talked to hates the air forks after riding other bikes they beat you up.
Agree that there isn't a "bad" bike in the shootout. However, if given the chance, it really does pay to be able to ride all the different brands to see which one fits you best. Best of luck if you can make that happen.
As someone who rides a 21 KX250 (same plastics and frame as the 450), I had to laugh at the "most likely bolt to strip out" comment. That 8mm bolt holding on the side panels is one of the very few on my bike that HASN'T come out on its own or needed replaced.
Best 450 moto reviews like always. My only comment - "Bargain Bike Winner - Suzuki?" It is only 600 less than the Yamaha and you'll get 2x that back when you resell the Yamaha. Not to mention the Yamaha is twice the bike. $600 dollars, that's like 6 tanks of gas - Suzuki has given up. Let's keep it real.
Thanks Luis! And yes, when you look at it that way, I totally agree! We didn't mention it as much in this video but we have before, we factor in that Suzuki dealers often lower the prices on RM-Zs after a few months because they're a lot harder to sell than a Yamaha.
Good Afternoon, 👍 way cool! You lay it very well. I'm going to give up the 2 smokers. They are to good for my health. But, with this old Vet-Rider, I'm going green. May have a few more bones to brake, worth it👌 Been looking for a while now so may be going Blue tomorrow. I'm thinking the kx450x, and throwing the walker away. Track or trails, roll that throttle and give it hell
Some people might not like it, but that doesn't make it "trash." It's just different. And do you really think the other platforms are paid to lie??? I'm a KTM guy and still find it weird that they always do so well on MXA compared to the other outlets.
@@jkell411 and I find it funny how Yamaha does so well on other outlets, they're all somewhat guilty of it, what's your point? I just find it ironic it gets shit on in races for years and a little smig of success and it's the greatest bike of all time
Didn't it win shootouts before last year? I don't think you know what you're talking about. You clearly just don't like Yamaha and that is fine. Just keep riding, bro.
Best bargain bike Suzuki? You have to be kidding ? They aren’t even much cheaper. Than a Yamaha and have lost every shootout known to man for years now , that’s not a bargain !7th placed bike for 95 % of the cost of other bikes
You do realise that even coming in last place its still an exceptionally capable bike that often has massive rebates at dealers so there is plenty room for the basic aftermarket parts that the majority of people will do to their bike anyways, which often can close the gap to others for the same $, while getting all the great attributes that Suzuki's are known for
@@Yamahariderr31 do you realise that you have to kick start it !!! That’s worth 1000 dollars extra right there . And how is the resale on a bike that you have to kick in 2021? Good luck getting good money for one to sell
They all need to bring out a 450 2t. The 2t will have more peak hp and be lighter and more agile than the 4t, but the 4t will in general be easier to ride and have a broader power delivery
Funny how the Husky won again when ALL the other shootouts by different magazines nobody picked it 1st, or even 2nd and had major issues with handling and suspension. Cause of the lowered suspension, it sits to low in the stroke. WTF don't believe me check out the other shootouts!
All the other magazines ride the bikes for a few days at most. MXA just raced these things for seven months. They also don't get paid or take free bikes or free trip to Japan from the manufacturers for picking their bike as the best. I van buy any bike I want. The husky is the best bike I've ever ridden for all the reasons stated here plus more.
Is there going to be a 2023 450 shootout this year. It’s been almost three months in the new year and there is no shootout for the 450s yet. The 2023 450 shootout is well over due
The top down view of the bikes at 1.40 is quite interesting to see the widths. It's funny how the slimmest looking bike from that angle is also the heaviest and makes you wonder if all Suzuki needs to do is update the motor to be in the running again as they could probably lose 15 pounds just in the engine
Like the WP suspension must be a west coast thing. Anybody I know that buys these bikes and seen on East coast the first thing they do is conversion kit on suspension .
It really is sad to see Suzuki falling behind, they use to be one of the best bikes back in the day, their 2 strokes were the best and the early years of rmzs 08-14 did amazing too! Then the r and d department, I'm assuming lost funding.
I feel your Yellow pain. I spent more time trying to get my last two rmz450s to work. They feel like their on the very of crashing the minute the track gets ruff and you wind it up to third and fourth gear.
I had been riding since I was a kid and was a vet rider but it’s been ten years since I’ve risen and even longer since I had my own bikes band rode alnost every day my ex wife wanted me to get rid of my bikes when my daughter was born I always thought I would get back into it but I never imagined how long I was caught up w work , mortgage and everything else my daughter is 22 now and I’ve been thinking a lot about riding and reminiscing it’s such a stress reliever when you are riding your focused on just riding . I would like a bike for single track use mostly but a bike I can also take to the motocross track as well I will be fifty in a month so I’m going to take it easy at first because I’m not going to bounce right up like i used to after a crash
Suzuki might be last in the shootout, but it's never last on race day. Might not be first, but not last. And I love my 19 RMZ 450. Probably going with the kx450sr this spring tho
Haha you munters sneakily try not to look biased toward KTM yet you won't list a single flaw for the bike as opposed to 5-10 flaws for every other bike. and yes the KTM has its flaws, we have 2 in our stables.
What is the actual reason that the crf is the best pro bike? Just removing bad parts couldn't be the reason.. Looks and whips 😋 but not enough Thanks for solid testing 👌
Maybe put the RM on a diet with a project bike series. Also engine tuning tips and suspension modifications. Let Suzuki know you’ll try to help them sell their bikes.🇨🇦🇺🇸4ever
I don't get it I've watched other 450 shootouts and the KX450 has won like 2 or 3 years in a row. I watched another video of the 2022 450 shootout and they chose the KX450to win?
i gotta 14 kx450f and a 22 mc450 and im still a bigger fan of the kx. more snappy and ready for the get down. the mc is cool and fun, just not as pipy as id like
Also on the mxa website: Kawasaki vs Yamaha 2021 "In short, the KX450 is a much more pleasant bike bike to spend time on, once you fix a few suspension, brake and set-up flaws. However, the Yamaha is considerably faster, more reliable and better suspended-and if you race motocross, those positive YZ450 traits pay bigger dividends than the KX450’s pleasant demeanor. Thus, we’d rather ride the 2021 Kawasaki KX450, but we’d rather race the 2021 Yamaha YZ450F. " Then why does the Kawasaki finish ahead of the Yamaha? 😵💫 I get shootouts are subjective, and would have accepted the fact that anything other than Honda, Suzuki, or husky finished first.
This is interesting I am coming of a yzf450 21 model was to much for me and I didn’t feel comfy I’m 6,1 and 110kg. Was thinking ktm or kx thoughts ? And is it worth waiting for the 23 models
@@adamrochester1 Do you like what the magazines are saying about the KTM? If so then I would say yes. If you want the latest tech from. KTM then get the new bike. Usually with new models there not as refined and get better. The old model is the best version of it from KTM. Either way you'll get a good bike. 👍 Kawasaki is also a good bike again do you like what the magazine are saying about it? You'll probably need stiffer fork springs. Kawasaki may or not change anything for next year.
@@jeffwarrack9059 yeh 22 ktm sounds like my money I think with some suspension done to her for sure But just wondering what would feel comfy for my height and weight lol. People say kx is taller but I want smooth riding feel easy handling
Not surprised by these results at all. Funny all the people chiming in about “working man’s bike” when trying to bag on the Austrians. A lot of weekend warriors ride these things off-road, not just track. The overheating issues on many of the Japanese bikes are hardly a secret. The new Hondas are pretty, but the Japanese have a long way to go if they ever want my money again. Sometimes it seems like they aren’t even trying. R&D teams just seem too far removed from production. 25 years later we’re still trying to make these Aluminum chassis work? 🤣 Josh races a stock KTM at a national. Throw a grand + at the Japanese bikes if you want to do that.
Awesome production. Looking at getting a new MX bike for track work. I currently ride a TE300 for trails and some track. I would consider myself a Vet beginner, if I am generous maybe pushing towards intermediate. I ride mix of intermediate/vet tracks or sometimes the senior tracks depending on location. I am also 210lbs. I was initially thinking a Gas Gas MC350 or a Husky FC350, but I have never ridden a 350 and probably wont get the opportunity to try one. I rode my friend new YZ450F recently and loved the suspension but felt the power was too much for me. Wondering now if the FC450 would be more suitable given my weight?
I currently weigh about the same, 210lbs, and have 2 ktm 350s. Xcf & 22-sxf and they both have more then enough power for me. I'm an A- expert level off-road racer to give a little more perspective.
You can tell that MXA 100% makes up things that are BS pertaining to the Japanese bikes because no other magazine test say anything like they do and neither does anyone on forums plus MXA is never going to say anything but praise for the Austrian bikes even if they weren't good, especially Mosiman who should wake up everyday call and thank everyone at MXA for having a job.
Man I miss motocross….but not the hospital trips. Still though i get excited about all the new bikes even though I’m definitely not getting back into the game lol
You can still enjoy riding a new 450f at your Local track. Just don't ride beyond your capabilities and pull off when getting too tired. It it a great form of exercise & fun.
You guys saying the Honda has better power than the Yamaha in a certain area.. 😂😂 you might want to ride them again. I’ve rode the bikes. Honda still has problems with the ecu as well even sending it off and having it fixed still lacks the power of the Yamaha..
Yz has more above 7500rpm whereas the crf has more below 7500rpm. The difference is down low the yz is more aggressive making it "feel" more powerful when it isn't vs the crf's smooth tractable bottom end making it "feel" slower when it isn't
@@tcmx712 not really cause you can tune the yz all over the board. Mine and my friends put a tune in that has a smooth power. Plus I don’t believe those dyno crap cause when you’re moving it forces more air to the intake which creates more power as well. My other friends have the Kawasaki and Honda and said my bike has better power all the way through and I left mine stock they have aftermarket on theirs.
@@mxr248 nah the yz doesn't get a ram air effect from it's airbox for 2 reasons, 1. you don't go fast enough on an mx track to create an air ram (unless you're doing 70mph down the straights but highly doubt that) and 2.the front number plate blocks any air from create a "ram" style effect even if it could. Also the powertuner is just a tool for fine tuning the powerband not completely changing the engine characteristics (even for tuning it still doesn't yield the gains that a vortex can), the engines internals most specifically the cams and head is what determines how your engine makes power. You might be running a smooth map but that doesn't change the fact the yz is a mainly top end powered engine
@@tcmx712 well you are wrong on the # plate blocking the air. Lol.. it comes in from the shrouds so yes it does work. Yamaha has come out with engineering stuff far ahead of everyone else with that and the fact for years you can tune the motor. Also yes it has more power period. I’ve had Honda and Kawasaki and my friends even rode the Yamaha and said the same has more power everywhere than theirs. Hell my friend had the Kawasaki with different cams and High compression piston and he said mine still pulls better and now he’s selling his cause of that and he likes the suspension on mine and he said it does everything really well and he likes how mine corners as well and my bike isn’t setup for his weight. Again I left mine stock and he also had his suspension done to. I’m an A rider and so is he and a few other of our friends. Honda with the stock ecu is sluggish as hell had it sent out twice and had to get a vortex. So sorry been there done it. Not even close.
@@mxr248 yeah you're right about the front number plate thing I was thinking of yz's with the aftermarket intakes but I'm not wrong about how you don't go fast enough for that to work on an mx track. Out of curiosity this wouldn't happen to be your new channel as I remember talking about stuff like this to a yz fanboy for the past year or 2 and that other channel always talked about his mates modified kx and how it didn't compare, pretty sure it was just "mxr" and was there a Bradymxr or something like that around aswell saying the same things
...it's the "everyone gets a trophy" syndrome... each bike had to have a "best" at something or for someone... The Honda is the best "Pro Bike", because a pro will change everything out anyway!! WTF??? ...Ridiculous....
