WHAT: Press conference and ribbon cutting for Medicina Scarlett. The medical facility features a fully bilingual staff and was created by board-certified family nurse practitioner Scarlett Idema to address health, well-being and quality of life issues for residents in southwest Detroit, where a reported 29,485 households speak Spanish as their primary language, according to Data USA.
After working for other medical practices in the area, Idema realized the community needed more personalized, holistic medical services. Medicina Scarlett was created to serve patients of all backgrounds and ages, regardless of insurance coverage or socioeconomic status.
The establishment is supported by a $50,000 grant from Motor City Match, which assisted with construction and the purchase of equipment.
