I know someone has already said, but the T nuts you use in the video are meant to be used on the opposite side to the bolt. Search “wood insert nut” for the correct nuts to be used as you need, they are for wood and are easy to install

Thanks Chris. Really good advice l. I’m always willing to learn. I’ve since updated the build to prevent these coming out. 👍🙏👍

Hi, great video, as always. Having the motor fixed could become an issue, as the rubber might wear away after some time. I think having the motor not fixed but instead attached to a spring could have made it more reliable.

Hi Jan. thanks so much for your comment. I have already bought a spring and will fit it if required. The set up I’ve made seems very reliable at the moment, but I will watch carefully over time.

The next video will *definitely* contain the LONG awaited soldering. 😝

Hi, agree with a previous comment that a spring would help keep the drive wheel in contact during wear, saving having to adjust. Along the lines of the idler wheel on a turntable. Looking forward to seeing how the RBS develops.

Hi JZ. Great idea. I have a spring and will fit it later in the build if required. Thanks for your comments once more. Ian 🙂

I think you are using those prong nuts incorrectly. It seems to me that they should be inserted on the other side of the wood so that as the screw is tightened, they hold more securely. The way you have them they are only held in place by the small prongs and will loosen over time. I enjoy your videos, thanks. Jack

OMG Jack. You are correct. Why didn’t you tell me earlier!!!! Only joking, my fault. Let’s hope they last. Thanks for the comment.

Well, I fear that hope is not the best approach to address a significant risk. From my experience, they will wesr and work out quite.soon. So better fix it without much fragile stucture on top. Either screw through the wood, or cut threaded holes or use rampa nuts instead.. But anyqay, the ideal for the circular lift is great. Goid luck, Dietmar

...r just plain screws or even nails, everything is better. Please don't leave it as it is. I hate to say "I've told you..." lateron

Lovely work, ingenious to the max. Have you any concerns about temperature rise inside a sealed box, or will the presumed intermittent use in the museum obviate that? May pay to monitor with a digital thermometer for a bit?
@CopperGravity

Hi Richard. Thanks for the comment. No concerns. I’ve used this speed controller before and think that it’s fine. It has a heat sink and the box is huge compared to the contents. And yes, the museum situation will make the running intermittent.

Hey, I found your videos lately and really like them :) Did you actively decide against brass for some reason or do you just like the looks of copper more? And I noticed you increased the volume of the background music lately which makes understanding you more difficult unfortunately. I assume most people are here to listen to you :)
@CopperGravity
@CopperGravity Год назад
Yes. Brass is not as flexible as copper. And I just love copper much more. Thanks for the comment on the music volumes. I will take more care.

Motion looks good! Having a Y switch at the upper ball release so that balls travel down both inside and outside the circumference of the circle?
