We put movers on our Jayco 21.65-3 and have found after destroying three jockey wheels that trying to turn on anything other than a paved surface will cause the jockey wheel to dig in. We tried the wheel and caterpillar types but not good on grass or sand. After spending a great deal we are now taking them off to save weight and will try to sell them separately for single axle vans, where they work great.

Yea Im hearing ya, defiantly not that suitable for the large Jayco vans. Thanks for the comments, Cheers Greg

We have opted to put movers on our new Leisureline 6.75 -arriving soon. We looked at the crawler type movers, but some feedback I received, said that they don't perform well on loose shingle, or wet grass. Loving your informative videos, keep them coming. :-)

Great review Greg and outline of the pros and cons. Interesting that they didn't support cornering, as that may be why many would want them fitted!
@KiwiWanderers
@KiwiWanderers Год назад
yea I think they corner ok when fitted on the lighter english vans... Hey thanks for watching.

Our first caravan had movers and they worked a charm. Our second has movers and they were not working properly when we got the caravan. I discovered that the installer took some short cuts and one of the things was they they had been installed too far from the tires so they do not engage properly. The PowrTouch movers drive wheels need to be 19mm from the tire when disengaged. Ours were up to 40mm away. You may want to check how far your drive wheels sit and if they are not sitting at 19mm, have someone adjust them properly and then see how they work for you. I am currently making new mounts for our front wheel set of movers so I can adjust them properly.

Thanks Sam, yea I have played around with the spacing a bit but it doesn't seam to make much difference the trouble with the J-Tech suspension is it moves away from the motor mover as it goes up and down and then of course the motor mover looses drive. thanks for commenting, appreciate the feedback Cheers Greg

Great review Greg, handbrake on that’s my usual too 🤣 I find with ours touching forward/backward at the same time as turning helps a lot Like the idea of a removable trolley, would be interesting to see one of those in action
@KiwiWanderers
@KiwiWanderers Год назад
Yea Ive tried everything to get it to turn , I am lead to believe that the Jayco suspension moves to much and when the pressure comes on it. just slips ... yea I think I will get a trolley thing next van ....when ever that is ..thanks for watching... we need to catch up before you go to the north island. Cheers Greg and Sandy

Great video. Like your idea of doing 180 for views and security. I fitted a pair to my single axle Bailey, very straight forward thanks to The Caravan Nut chan video. See Caravan Vblogger chan video on difference between 1 and 2 pairs on tandem caravan. Sounds like suspension issue from what you say. Fitted my because of tight storage pad at home but found them useful but not essential on site. Tried powered jockey wheel but not enough traction on slopes or gravel, best used on flat hard surfaces. In regards to your bent jockey best have it wind almost alway in, ie just short of locking position. Use on hard surface eg sheet of ply or recovery mats if ground soft. Hand brakes on or not on, been there done that. Now chock wheels before disengaging. Worth fitting lanyard to remote and carry around you neck, so you don't leave it behind. Also clip power key to it when not in use. Thanks for the informative videos.

We had them on our last van, never had an issue with them, got us into and out of some tight sites. I removed them from our last van, 21.5 Crusader insperarion after it was written off and plan to have them installed in our current van 30ft corimal princeton, when our installer can get time (They are currently booked until September 2023)

Start at $1600 a pair if you fit them yourself. Straight forward on UK vans, there are kits for Aussie vans.

Hey Greg thanks so much for this video. As reversing will take me time to learn and be confident. We have ordered the 24.75-4 Silverline and have included the movers cost is $5500 AUD. The reason I included them is due to this being the first van I have towed and I wanted to use the movers to park the van on sites and on our drive. I’m now concerned after watching your video that they won’t do what we want them to do. If they cannot do a 90 degree turn it will be a waste of money. The Jayco salesman told us they will turn on the spot and are just what we need. The weight is also now a concern. We are getting the new Everest which now comes with a GCM of 6250kg but pushing the van weight up by 75kg has set alarm bells ringing
@KiwiWanderers
@KiwiWanderers Год назад
Your van is the same as ours so unless they have some new type of mover that stays in contact with the wheel some how I would be very surprised if it turned on the spot. When using ours and the pressure comes on when turning our movers just slip I am lead to believe it is something to do with the design off the J-tech suspension. I have seen the movers we have fitted rotate an english van very easily but the difference was much lighter (1900kg) and spring suspension with way less movement. Yea weight is always an issue we are just under our GVM on the ranger of 6000kg it would be great to have the extra 250kg you have but in saying that there are only 2 of us... Good luck with every thing and please let me know how you go. Cheers Greg

@@KiwiWanderers thanks so much Greg. I have just cancelled the movers. I guess I will have to very much work on my reversing skills. I have previously towed a boat and had many a drama reversing that but I have never towed a caravan.

Hi Greg, we have the same motor movers on our 9m twin axle caravan, and they comfortably allow us to do a 3-point turn at the end of our driveway. I’m wondering if you should speak with the dealer who fitted them, sounds odd you can’t turn?
