Mechanical assembly technicians don't like working on a table. They like working on the ground. If they drop a screw or spanner, or a bearing, it wont roll far away, never to be found again. The ground is infinite in size, and expands to meet their needs in this blossoming business. A table is small and restricting of movement, as is a squeaky old chair, which is too heavy to move and they trip over the legs when rushing outside to run after the ice cream man ringing his bell as he pushes his cart of frozen sugary ice-watering dessert along the hot dusty road 😀

@@valerachaser9643 Some famous engine manufacturers (like Rolls Royce) used to bury the castings for a long time to allow them to "season" like a good cheese 🧀 before they did milling and line-boring operations. I think these guys are doing something similar to prevent internal strains in the castings leading to cracks. It's shocking that they throw the castings down on concrete, but better that they fail in the factory than on a farm in Punjab, hundreds of kilometres away from engineering repair facilities 😐.
