Thank you for translating the temperature for the MSC (Metric System Challenged) portion of your audience. For a moment my brain thought, "But 43 is freaking COLD for summer!" I just love that motorbike (?) motorcycle (?) scooter (?). Whatever exactly it's called, I would love to ride one! It looks a bit less intimidating than a bigger motorcycle, but not as much of a deathtrap as those tiny scooters. I'm a small person, so I used to want one of those. But after my former pastor was in a horrific, life-altering accident on one, never again.
it's my new favorite song. not even kidding. also i laughed because it kinda sounds like Kyde says "skeet skeet" at the end rather than "scoot scoot." I know thats not what's happening but it was funny to me since im a child xD
So many videos from Hokkaido from channels we watch--I presume that not only is it beautiful, but the respite from the heat and humidity must be so refreshing!
So look man, my wife and I have been along with ya'll since 2012. We've had a lot of misadventures with travel ourselves--including losing our first son in Taiwan in 2016. Your hitchhiking series kept us. Odd phrase, "kept us," but that's the best way to put it. We are planning on moving back out to East Asia, Japan this time, and it feels like perfect bookends, that as we had to return before with our deceased son, now we are going out with our second son, and we have a new Hokkaido journey to go along. Very cool how the world can work sometimes.
Already stoked about your next travel series: Hokkaido part 3, Eric flies a Cessna around a bit and maybe camps outside. In all honesty the hitchhiking series is still my favorite to revisit. Looking forward to this one!

When you are out on adventure you get funny stories to tell, it can´t be stated or said enough, if you just sit at home and don´t go anywhere you will have no stories to tell, nothing will happen if you do not move around every now and then and go somewhere. Never give up the adventure, always keep on moving!
super excited for this new hokkaido series, no big surprise that when eric goes to hokkaido a typhoon soon follows. i agree that even if this recalls strongly the hitchiking series the bike will give it a very different vibe, and i can't wait for the real exploration to start

I stayed in a Japanese Guesthouse in Shinkoiwa and I cannot tell you how many times people that lived there would open my room door and walk in before realising. Like it wasn't unsafe so no-one bothered to lock their doors but I started to lock mine after a few times just to prevent the awkwardness. So it totally tracks that the random dude just climbed into what he thought was his bed.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful love story between Eric and Scooty Puff, Jr. The sleeping berth story was pretty classic--it happened to my traveling companion on a ferry ride from Piraeus to Brindisi, which reminds me of the argument between a Greek and an Italian about the primacy of each other's contributions to culture, wherein the Greek says, "We invented sex!" and the Italian retorts, "But we introduced it to women!"
The ferry adventure is def a great topic for a video. I have enjoyed other channels that do that too. Some are ferry's and some cargo ships. I love it when they show the food they get to eat.
Jesus, that ferry price... I once flew with gf from Stockholm to Budapest for about 250 kr. Btw sometimes you remember the rainy tiresome adventures longer then the easy sunny days. Looking forward to more hokkaido episodes!
Wow! You had been driving through my neighborhood！驚いた（笑）If you went to north part of Japan where than Ibaraki pref, you should probably try the convenience store named “Seico mart”. Many people say that their Onigiri, bento,and fried food is good than 7-Eleven’s one especially you are living in Tokyo. Just try it when you have the chance 😉👍

no one has ever said anything nor have i seen signs about them in places like on a ferry or at a hotel. it's stand alone onsens and sentos that tend to "care" but it sorta depends, i've gotten a foreigner pass in the past lol.
