Really enjoy what you do here. This type of sit back and listen is relaxing and enjoyable. I own a 2019 ktm 250 exc f and seems like it can do most of the things in your videos. Thanks again.
I agree to a huge part. I ride a 1987 DR 750 Big with drum brakes. Also a 2018 Standart Africa Twin. I love both and got used to the ATs electronic stuff. 2 buttons and all is off. No menue clicking. And it is sturdy. Crashed into a deer and blindsided by a car, no malfunction in any way. I gained more trust in it and learned to live with that devil. I would never upgrade to anything more complicated. But the Big is just like you described. There is full responsibility. Gnarly piece of ride. Love it.
Enjoying the podcasts, a sit down podcast with Clubby and Nugget telling some stories of previous rides and whats coming up for you all would be great.
Great video, hello from America. I've always rode an xr from the 70 up to the 650,always enduro type riding. At the age of 50 I decided to buy an adventure bike. I rode every adventure bike from 400 to 1290 that I could talk someone into letting me ride. I bought a 2019 t7 put about 6k into it and the rest is history. It's lo tech insanely reliable and a fairly easy transition from my xr650r.
Dave your commentary around all this technological wizardry is manna from heaven. Ive resisted the marketing and still run my trusty XT660z. Simple, bit of a donkey but all the inputs are mine and I never have to second guess technology kicking in. The marketers have sold the adventure dream to the inexperienced and sales are booming. Great observations and great podcast.. Wasnt sure about them but im on the bus.
It works foe me i like watching the vid as you give an overview of the trip, I spent 15 years in the top third of Australia and some of the places you got to see on a trail bike is awesome. I love Derby, alot of people turn left to Broome at the end of the Gibb road so Derby was a quite place l would walk out on the pier sucking down a milkshake made by a French backpacker and watch the sunset it was a great time 👌
I like the podcast. Good idea David! (But I also like electronics on bikes. I’m probably one of those rich middle aged blokes you talk about, but without the money) PS. Look forward to the reports from the husqvarna event.
For what it worth 2022 Husky 701 is getting 300km with one liter left in the tank after riding dirt tracks like Finke River Gorge (sandy, rocky gnarly stuff) and the 2020 701 was barely making 240km so definitely an fuel consumption improvement on the 2021/22 model. Cheers Dave & Nugget (met him at Finke desert race with Nerb & riding with tom in June)
Took me a long time to stop reflexively hating on the introduction of tech to bikes. But once I started to notice there’s no movement specifically to go the opposite way, with any company or brand in the world, to simplify on purpose. I learned to start hating it again. It’s as if it’s not allowed, and that the direction of innovation is preplanned, and therefore not really innovation, but rather the regression of choice.
if i could have bought a 890'R' (or the RALLY) wihout all that computer nanny nonsense even for the same price id have done so , when i traded the 1190 for a smaller bike , LoLoL facts !! in its a mad world = damn dude you just poured my own heart out and made me laugh like hell about it anyway
Great ride and commentary. Can't wait to get over and meet up with you all. I hate a pussy whuppin with a micro chip. Hell, it wouldn't feel any better with a giant chip either. See you next time. Nugget the Roo chip eater. HAHA
