Get a face shield that accepts a pin lock, the pin lock shields will eliminate fogging in a full face helmet, I’m 61 have ridden with brain buckets most of my life but recently switched to a Shoei Neotec 2 modular helmet and like it a lot. Took some getting used to but used it on a 4400 mile trip to Sturgis in August and it worked out great even in 108 degrees weather.
I strongly second the pinlock. I ride in Seattle year round in cool and wet conditions, and a properly installed pinlock face shield stays completely fog free. You will be amazed. The great part is- You can get a pinlock ready version of the shield for most brands of helmet. I have ones on a Shoei, an HJC, and a Bell.
I have a Sena helmet with the camera and communications built in, I like it more than I thought I would. My kids talked me into a full face, I have been using peanut and half helmets for thirty years, it is a big adjustment but in cold weather it’s great. It has a good anti fog liner that works very good. Love your videos and your bike is great, be safe out there to many bad car drivers.
I was living and Skiing at Alta Utah in 1983.. That winter they got 720" of snow.. Powder snow hitting your bare kneck when you are skiing waste Deep Powder hitting bare skin is not pleasant.. I bought a Neck Gator that covers part of my chest and back .. so much warmer than others.. I finally found a gator I like in RevZilla similar to the thick knitted one I bought in 1983. This time of year I keep the neck gator in my Motorcyle luggare so I can put it on when it gets cold such as at night. My Shoei Air II Helmet has a neck curtain .. it really reduces air noice in your Helemet.. My face shiled of course is dual pain .. but they have a pin lock system where into install a third layer to make it anti Fog.. I have never tried it .. Snowmobile Helemts have a piece that goes over your nise and mouth and a tube that vents the air you exhale out of your Helemet.. Of course My Helemet is Full Face.. but for my Next Helmet I want a Modular Helmet.. It's like a Full face but the whole front flips up when you want to talk ect.. with out having to Unbukle your chin strap .. My Snowmobile Helmets have heated Visors that don't fog up . With My Shoei Full face .. I pop the face sheild open at a red light and often ride with it craced open one click for fresh are ventilation and then it does not fog up .. Also these helemets have flip down sun visor too .. Never have to hassel with sun glasses..
Obviously, there is more to you than just beauty. You are in command of your life. Business Woman, Lawyer, and most impressive being a mom. More work than I could handle. Motorcyclist You Tuber extraordinaire. Congratulations to you. Keep the vids comin. I just subscribed. Shiny side up. See ya again soon 🤞
I fought getting saddlebags for most of my time in the saddle, now 43+ years, but picked up some Viking bags a few years ago. Now riding an Electra Glide with hard bags and would be lost without them. Thanks for sharing and Ride Safe
Car Wash was a Movie in 1976. I survived the Disco Era .. it did suck for a while though .. You could not escape it.. Finally Album Rock came back Classic Rock nwo (9) Car Wash (2/10) Movie CLIP - "Car Wash" Theme Song (1976) HD - RU-vid
I started to wear one of the Harley Davidson 3 in 1 helmets and I don't think I'll be changing any time soon. It's great in cooler weather and really easy to convert to a 3/4 or half helmet in hot weather. Nice video 👍👍
Scorpion Snowmobile Helmet. Does not fog up at all. Rode to Tennesee last weekend most of the ride was after dark sub 50 degrees. kept my face warm and no fogging up. I did remove the visor from mine. I'm a brain bucket guy but the scorpion will be a good go-to in the colder months.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney love my brain bucket. If it wasn't so damn cold here in MD I'd wear it all winter lol. But, the scorpion helps. Takes some getting use to but much warmer and no Fogging! Got mine from DK Customs
I wear a full face all the time. Best protection you can have on a motorcycle. I wear SHOEI RF 1200,. It comes with a pin lock system that you put inside your face shield .. to keep it from fogging up it works very very well. 👍👍🇺🇸
May have already sorted the misting problem but in the UK we use PinLock Visors they work well but a good tip is raise the visor when at stop lights or junctions.
You can get half helmets that have zip off ear/neck pieces. They also have pull down retractable eye shields. I like the SA gaiters but for me they are very tight to the point of choking.
Meg I love this camera angle. You have such nice teeth. I wasn't going to say anything about your helmet because ''style'' is important to you. I have an Arai full face w/ an adjustable vent and crack /vent shield. My ultimate preference is a 3/4 Arai open face helmet. You can put a small windshield on your bikini fairing or get another ''cafe'' style fairing and cut the shield until the wind goes over your head w/out looking through it. Car drivers who see a human face are ''less'' likeiy to turn in front of you . A snap on visor works great on an open face helmet. you're the best !
My friend / neihgrobort managed the local car wash .. He died of a heart attack.. Then some other friends Neighrbors "retired Police officers" Managed it. I have like two dozen of the white 5 gallon spoap buckets.. After 40 years they tore it down and made a parking lot.. Glad I have a 2,000 PSI hot water Pressure washer..
@@megsmotorcyclejourney I had a date 60 miles from where I live.. The gal ran the gear box on her big utility trarctor mower out of oil.. It was very greasey .. I drove to the Local car wash to pressure wash the gear box.. The wand had a huge watter leak spraying all over me while I sued it. I do so much pressure washing that I have to use my own High Pressure Hot water Pressure washer.... Adjustable pressure from 0-2000 PSI Adjustable heat.. It;s actaully desinged to be a steam cleaner too but I neaver set it that hot. It burns fuel oil .. was made in PA and I can't even think of the brand with out looking.. I needed parts once and they told me it was the busy season .. could not get the parts for oever one month .. Then I found a Local guy who sells any part I need.. as the pump is a KAT .. Pressure washers are made of common brand components for the most part.. It has been working since 1989
Mobile motorcycle detailing sounds like the greatest thing ever! As much as I love riding I have literally not went out because of the wet roads. Not because I mind riding on wet roads, but because I dont wanna spend the hours cleaning my bike after. If the detailing service was reasonable, I would definitely use that service. Dont think there is anything like that here in Iowa.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney You know a lot of HD Dealers have Bikini Car washes in their Parking Lots.. @@megsmotorcyclejourney Yeah don't get confused the pin lock is two pins on the inside of the facesheild, then a second smaller shield is placed on these pins, so basically it is a second shield on the inside that prevents the fogging.
You can get toss over bags or once the sissy bar a small roll 💼 some type of briefcase 💼 depending on what your needs to carry. When in a full helmet it will take time but while riding the vents can be set to keep it clear. Once you stop open it slightly to let air in.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney depends on the helmet I guess? I have a scorpion which once I’m moving is great sitting still nope. My old Full face none modg always foggy.
You can use a full face modular, i have a hjc is max BT, so when approaching the stop you lift up the front and doesnt fog, and when riding in serious cold wind just pushbit down
All full faces are gonna fog when you stop, from my experience. I have a Simpson Outlaw Bandit that rarely fogs because it has really nice airflow. The downside is all that airflow is a little noisy. It also looks pretty badass, which is really why I bought it.
Any full face helmet with the Pinlock system will not fog. I have a Shoei SR-RF and an RF-1200 and love them. It looks like the RF-1200 is being replaced by the RF-1400 for 2021.
I wear a full face all the time plus earplugs and I an hear my bike , traffic and anything else just fine 👍 Not to mention that wind noise is Extremely hard on your hearing!!! Checkout CycleGear on line ,lots of helmets to choose from and some real bargains this time of year 👍 Got one from there 4 years ago , it's their brand " Bilt " really comfy , and the shape of it is awesome , I don't get any wind buffeting at all , also has the inner smoked flip down visor for the sun , makes you look like a fighter pilot , got it on sale for 75 bucks , closeout special . I've owned Arai's , Shoie , and numerous other helmets and to this day i like my Bilt better than all of them 👍
Hi, I have a 2018 Harley Sport Glide and put risers (part # 56269-09)and it made all the difference in the world. It would stop you from having to lean so far forward .( This is not a hard install but has to be set to specs so for you have ur dealer put them on.)
Pin lock is the “secret” to not fogging. Many manufacturers have pin lock visors. Find ya a pretty ECE or Snell rated helmet with pin lock and your fogging issues will be a thing of the past. Keep rippin and Happy belated Thanksgiving
Bell Helmets have vents that help with fogging and can be purchased with the Transitions face shields. They can be a little cool when the seasons change, but the gaitor should help with that. I've worked enough accidents to know the full helmet, while it partially hides your attractiveness, will keep you protected.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney If youre still looking at helmets check the Quinn Spitfire Rosso. Good price and some useful features. And the color is all you. www.quin.design/
@@tdunn.3463 appreciate it! It’s not about the attractiveness, it’s about liking the feeling of the wind and being able to hear my bike and traffic, etc. I do appreciate that full face is safer.
We have a car wash here in Pleasure Ridge Park a suburb of Jefferson County, KY. Timmys is the name of the business and they are the busiest car wash I’ve ever seen. They have a detailing shop next door to the wash. They’ve been in business for over 30 years. You were talking about the laws about traffic backups from a car wash. Timmys has a HUGE back up on a major road. Dixie Highway also known as Dixie Dieway. Their business has one tunnel.
Wait, didn't Walter Wight own a car wash in Breaking Bad...LOL. Your boots look absolutely bad ass in this video. I am always on the lookout for a car wash large enough to accommodate an RV/Travel Trailer. Wondered if there are many RVers around your neck of the woods. With the cam facing back towards you, I enjoyed watching your smile as you rode. It shows your joy.
Not a big fan of full face helmets either. Like you, I prefer a 1/2 helmet. I like the extra visibility. Having said that, I do have a full face helmet and IF you were getting one anyway, look at a Shoei Neotec 2. It comes with what they call a pinlock which is an item to help mitigate the fogging you get. It is just a an extra layer that you install on the faceshield that traps air to the shield and thus prevents fogging. The Neotec 2 also is very comfortable (for me anyway). Again, like you, I prefer the 1/2 helmet any day of the week.
I have a scorpion EXO -AT950 it's a ATV helmet but I love it cuz it's got a sun visor to keep the Sun out of my eyes drop-down sunglasses and a flip up face shield you would not believe how much that visor helps keep the Sun out of your eyes and keeping your helmet from heating up but riding Phoenix Arizona so I only have to worry about the Sun and only have a few days of cold riding one thing I've heard a bunch of people in cold-weather areas talk about getting snowmobiling helmets for help in the cold weather and from fogging have fun let us know what you decide always great to see other people's opinions and helpful tricks hey and if you got a trailer and want to go to some events it would be really nice to see you at Arizona Bike Week
I know a lot of people are putting the Sport Glide bags on the low rider s', they're quick detach which is nice for when you don't want them. Has anyone ever researched the economic viability of having a car wash setup where you have like 2 or 3 of the diy wash bays where a team would wash your motorcycle? I like the idea of being able to go to a car wash and being able to get your motorcycle washed for you. Videos are looking great!
I don’t know of a bike wash concept like that but it’s worth exploring, especially because my partner and I both love motorcycles. Thank you for following along!
Meg, you have a gorgeous smile! Simpson is a good brand in helmets. I have never had one, but that is the brand my Son used when he used race his stock car. I would check to see if your full face is pin lock ready. I wear an Arai full face that I purchased from Revzilla. It is important that your helmet fits your head shape. I am a long oval. Then there is intermediate oval, and round oval. The pin lock system will keep your face shield from fogging up. Enjoyed your vid., and hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! Ride, and be safe! 🤗
During the winter, I use my Simpson M30 Bandit helmet. I have the chrome visor instead of clear and I can see clearly at night with the visor down as well. Just a thought.
Viking bags makes some nice looking removable hard or soft bags. If you install the sissy bar and a luggage rack you can use a sissy bar bag that will hold a good amount of gear for daily commutes ... As for open face or Half helmets ... They won't protect your face or teeth in a slide ... and they tend to lift up at highway speeds .... best of luck in your car wash venture ...
You have 3 businesses. You forgot RU-vid and I know it's in the beginning but your a smart woman and you will do fine. Good luck with your RU-vid business. From a old man on a motorcycle.
for the Covid restrictions here in France, we have to wear the mask all the time, so I bought a no flog cloth, clears up my wind screen nicely on the helmet. You want to ride twisty roads this is the place, I get excited if I have 400 meters of straight away to relax here!
I have a Bell helmet. It is a modular type. It has a clear shield and a drop down sun shield like the fighter pilots have. Most full face helmets will fog up when setting still. To avoid this just lift the shield a click or two. Then close it when you resume forward motion. The trick is not to stop to often...lol. Be good and be safe!!
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger!! Not a big fan of Cold either. At one point I had no choice all I had was my bike and no heated gear! Have it a little better now. Be good and be safe!! Also thanks for the reply!
Check your full face helmet it may already be set up for a pin lock system. You would only need to buy the kit. I have an Hjc full face helmet with pin locks but don't use it .I just Crack the shield 1 click open in town then close it when on the highways
The trick the anti-fogging in a motorcycle helmet is “pin lock”. Most of the major helmet manufacturers make pin lock ready shields for their helmets. I have a Shoei RF-1200 and have ridden in mid-twenties temperatures without fogging.
Meg, for an extra bag that doesn't take up much space, you should check out Nelson Riggs tail bags selection. I have their Commuter Sport Tail bag on my Street 500 and it carries plenty. They do have several types of luggage other than tail bags too are really well made. Thank you for you great content. TE from Tennessee
Law and Harley-Davidson, in my opinion the best lifestyle 🤘🏼 I really enjoy watching your Vlogs and beside, it’s a good way to improve my English skills 😁 Hope to take on a ride in USA one day too 🙏🏼 Always ride safe! Greetings from Germany
If you are ever in the Buffalo NY area, look into the Delta Sonic Car Washes, they are an empire and honestly they have done a great job. You cannot imagine the LINES of cars that get bucked up waiting to pay $20 for their car to be washed. I personally stopped going only because I enjoy detailing my own cars and bike but they are the bomb...
Any helmet that has a pin lock shield is what won't fog, especially when it gets cold up here. I prefer ones with a transitions shield too. Now to just get my eyeglasses to not fog inside the helmet.
Whew, I binge-watched all of you vids today. Very cool. Looking forward to the next one. I leave my visor up one click, about a quarter inch open to prevent fogging. Mine is a Shoei.
I have a full face helmet, I wipe shaving cream on both sides of the visor and just remove it with a paper towel, no fogging up for about a week, then you need to reapply, but it works great and it's very cheap.
Meg's Motorcycle Journey also you can still hear the bike just fine with a full face, there are even helmets with auto tint visors and wiping the visor with shaving cream will prevent fogging up for about a week.
Look for helmets that have pinlock. Just google pinlock and it explains how they keep from fogging up and works really well for rain and cold weather. Best to try different helmets, they all fit differently. Car washes that need employees to feed the cars through have an extremely high turnover rate and theft. They hang out at the payment kiosk and if you pay them $10 in cash, they override and give you the $25 wash. Good luck if you go that route.
My partner managed 3 full service sites for nearly a decade so he is very familiar with these issues and has experience avoiding them. Thanks for the feedback.
@Solo Moto not at all. I have a mountain of student loan debt and three kids. Most of my videos are posted late at night while I’m up after having a crazy day or taking care of my kids (I do not have a nanny or any other help) and running two businesses.
By the way don't mod your exhaust or engine, Harley and their dealers are infamous for scamming customers out of warranty. We had to replace our engine 3 times without warranty because of their shoddy installation of stage 5 modification.

**Moment of Panic** I had the same panic yesterday when I was riding, thought I left my glasses at the Harley shop, then right before I pulled off the highway, realized they were on my face. typical old age kicking in.
Sissy bar bag. Viking bags and probably the best bags is nelsonrig. They are easily removable. I know from one of your other videos you installed a sissy bar
Another good video !!! You ride with great confidence!!!! Cant believe you've only been riding for a year!!! Have you considered mounting your camera on your helmet and talking as you ride???

Hey Meg I never had a full face helmet that didn't fog up. I wear a half helmet until it's too cold to take it. I'm in delaware so I know how you feel. Keep the rubber side down
Monetized. I need to pay for some better camera equipment and that exhaust upgrade isn’t paying for itself. Government regulations for full fledged car washes are a pain in the azz....The cost of replacing worn out machinery is not as affordable as it once was. Rain X anti-fog works on helmets.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney Simpson are great but will fog out , try Bell , they are a great value . Once you r used to full face helmet then you ll never go back , If you slide while wearing a brain bucket then your face gonna be damaged for life

@@megsmotorcyclejourney Try supporting your core muscles with your legs. You are probably without realizing it supporting your body through acceleration and deceleration with your hands on the handlebars and causing them to go numb. This advise changed my life. I couldn't ride 10 minutes and my throttle hand would go numb. I started putting the slightest pressure on the balls of my feet against the floorboard or highway pegs and tightening my core muscles, not enough to cause fatigue. I consciously work at keeping my arms and hands relaxed no tension... Game Changer!!
@@stevemangini3521 thanks for the advice. I’ll give it a try. Agree about the mid controls. I’ve only ridden a few bikes with forward controls and I felt very uneasy for that reason.
I commented on an earlier video about the SA face shields and now I see you already knew about them. Some days I feel sort of silly about commenting. As for the faces you think you make, those that know you think nothing of it because they see your face all the time, those of us that don't know you only see your smile while you ride. Don't worry about what you think you should look like, just enjoy the ride and if that includes some silly faces we are fine with that.
